About 62 perscent of the US lives paycheck to paycheck. Corporations buy up properties where trailer parks are, the people that live there don't have the means for legal help. Rent leases go up, people are on waiting lists for housing, fighting for disability can take years. Many issues cause homelessness, its not always drugs.

9200 in Toronto. 1200 rents minimal. Yet thousands pour into the city annually. Stop allowing new people to live here and build another area up. Make work, create jobs. Not dump people into a city that can’t take them. Is first.

@@ursulasmith6402 Oh, no way. A big majority of the homeless on the streets in California are because of drug addiction.

Because most of the time you use those drugs to forget about the hell of homelessness. You rarely start homelessness as a drug addict. And without drug being homeless might become unbearable.
Go freeze on a bench without feeding your self be pushed from right to left to find a shelter and put your name on the list to see if your lucky that night. Get there. Get robbed. Or even violently assaulted for taking a spot "belonging" to someone. Look you want me to keep going on the reality of homelessness? You think your normal life is hard 🤣. Get it real you know nothing of it and your comment proves it. The complexity of homelessness is way way bigger than what your favorite news broadcast loves to picture to keep marginalize a certain group to make other feel better...oh no right ounce a year they love to say they care 🎄 rest of the time they bash on them like a bunch of dogs.
Dont worry I put you in the same exact situation and with no one around you to help completely alone and I give you less than a month in winter before you start chugging on drugs or booz to keep you warm and forget that hell. I've been in the street and not as someone with out a fix domicile which is to me a completely other reality. Its a minority regularly using drugs unless your talking about crackhead which most of the time will be women selling their body or using their physical attributes to get a "comfortable" "homeless" like life but again I dont consider a crack B a homeless they never really sleep in the street again they use their attribute to spare their self from real homelessness. They always have a male ready to shelter theme as long as their body can attract someone. Sorry to say but thats the crude taboo reality about male/female homelessness no body is talking about. So yeah if your homeless I hope you are a female it as way more perks security and comfort wise. And plenty of male are ready to get you out of it...when is the last time you have heard of a female getting a homeless man out of the street ? Yeah well reality hit again as a male you are required to meet a minimum standard.
The problem about homelessness is not the people but the system. You know how hard it is to get out only if you lived it. There is no help and the few available are not made to get people out of the street they are temporary and really basic its kind of an eternal loop where even if you have the best intentions the road back into a normal life is almost impossible if you are alone.
Its easy as society to put the blame on drugs you guys love the easy answer when in fact you dont know what you are talking about. I get it we feed you a narrative and you go alone with it thinking you are all knowing. It probably give you a purpose to think you know better when you truly dont.
In some city they have those homelessness night out Normally in autumn so you can try how comfortable it is to try to sleep outside. Go try one in that comfortable autumn night which you will complain its cold. Now do it in the winter for a month barely eating and struggling from left to right for help and much more see if your not going to hit on something to forget that hell.

I ❤ this video for educating people about the reality of homelessness, it really is a complex issue. Many factors or sometimes just one factor can push a person to be homeless it does vary on the individual and their unique circumstances.
We are in what I call a 'new age' of homelessness. This is a global issue and the rise of homessness since the pandemic has been primarily due to lack of affordable housing. We now are seeing whole families with very young children on the streets or in hotels, motels, couch surfing, living in vehicles. Some may not be directly sleeping on a piece of cardboard but the uncertainty and the over crowded conditions these people endure is enough to break their morale. So many people doing it very tough 😥😥😥😥

I'm not surprised. The kind of people who blame other people for their problems are probably statistically more likely to end up homeless than those who take responsibility for their own actions.

Save your rent or mortgage payment. The rest like gas for your car to work is more important than a burger. Only pay for your phone and internet service and groceries don't need fancy veggies or expensive meats. Clothes are never a fashion but make them last until the final threads. Consider downgrade on the fufu car or truck. Paid in full is a bonanza right now

Homeless people in Toronto are people who came from elsewhere.
All they have to do is take the bus back to Timmins, Niagara Falls, Barrie, Sarnia etc, etc.
That is what my wife and I did in 2008 after 15 years in Toronto when we realized, in our early fifties, that our annual combined income of $70,000 did not allow us for any savings for retirement because of the cost of leaving in Toronto.

@David Wadsworth, The rich ensure their workers are paid extremely low salaries and wages that it won't be enough to pleven pay rent and barely enough food. People can't find jobs that pay them well. They can't pay rent. They become homeless.

The reasons behind homelessness are not complicated. Just compare what we had a couple of decades ago and analyse the economic changes that have occurred. Don't blame it on hings like mental health, poverty or domestic violence - 2 or 3 decades ago public housing was for vulnerable people. When our richer, more capable citizens started taking cheaper public housing instead of buying a home or renting from the public housing system they squeezed out the vulnerable people from public housing. I have a neighbour in cheap public housing who runs a very profitable air-conditioning business. He lives alone in a two bedroom unit with a very expensive work van parked in the street. He also has a number of workers arriving in expensive trade vehicles to the group of 'pensioner' units he resides in.
