- Christina McAnea, General Secretary of Unison, has warned that co-ordinated strikes are likely this winter.
She said action was possible across several sectors.
Ms McAnea said the mini-budget showed that the Conservative government wanted "ordinary people" to pay for the cost of living crisis.

People have had enough , bankers getting richer and richer and the rest of us get poorer
If only that was the case stop blaming the bankers
Everyone striking together wouldn’t that be a sight
If people on universal credit are just supposed to take any job, including in areas for which they are not qualified, seems to me those poor bankers who don't want to stay in banking (the poor lambs) could 'just retrain' and help the NHS.
Well done Unison! This appears to be the only way forward.
We don't want Foreigners taking jobs but we won't do them ourselves 😂🤣 welcome to Brexit UK.
The more that government is intent on introducing legislation to prevent strikes the more likely that a general strike is going to happen. In which case the level of disruption would be massive.
Yes we understand the Tories are always going to favour Big Business and give them Tax Breaks and incentives.
BUT NOT NOW!! The world is heading into a recession. The UK is in a recession.
People need support and decent wages to pay their Bills and keep warm. And if they are not paying their Bills or buying stuff then - 'brainwave' - how is Big business going to make more money?
Brainwave. Make uk an attractive place for execs and big business may locate here... make stuff...export products and services. Money coming into an economy from outside is how wealth is generated. Unpalatable but true
So let's get this straight: It's OK for journalists to belong to the NUJ but it isn't OK for anyone else to belong to a union or have any kind of workplace representation.
Who keeps voting Tory apart from the Rich???
Perhaps everyone on the sick could come into work to allow the workers to strike
How can strike action not make staffing worse?!
And a coordinated strike between multiple unions for political reasons is a general strike. Doesn't matter what the unions call it.
No, it would not be a general strike. The unions have no intention of calling a general strike because nobody would actually do it apart from a few leftists who probably do not work anyway.
A co-ordinated strike is not a general strike.
These train drivers are on excellent money and wages. Greed wanting more but in the same breath rail fairs are extortion now to pay for these wages and they want more..!!
VOTE SOPHIE FOR PM
Of course sky news would say uts not possible. It's not what their investors want.
