Masabe is healing music. Special songs and rhythms are used to drive out the sickness. This Tonga group, led by master drummer Lassesa Masanga on lead vocals and playing the largest drum, are from Choobe village, Monze district, Southern Province, Zambia. Recorded 07/09/14. To be heard on the album SWP 056 'Southern Province Mix', part of SWP 053 'Luangwa to Livingstone', a media book including 4 cds and a 48-page booklet, recorded and produced by Michael Baird.

No "ngoma" is a generic Bantu word meaning "drum", and it applies to any kind of drum that you have seen
