Designing a Cape Cod Beach House - Episode 3 - Performance Programming

Early in the design of any custom home there are two different things I focus on to set the framework for the design. The first is the site analysis, a study of the specific conditions in which the home will be located. The next is Programming / Performance Programming.
Programming = the quantitative list of spaces, their approximate sizes, adjacencies and any other special requirements.
Performance Programming is qualitative, it is how the home will be used, the daily, weekly and yearly routines of the homeowners and their family. During Performance Programming I am looking for a few key points to focus on that will make this home on this site for this family completely unique.
Follow along as I identify a few of these key points and create conceptual sketches to study how they will set up the initial design decisions.
