We can't blame the mother if by now she has no good food yet to eat because she just wanted to go finish their shelter for safety. I am sure she will try to make ways of finding job for their financial needs. Daniel is a smart boy for he knows what to do. The mother could work for income through neighbors' help (labor hiring). If she has savings she could do buy fruits/vegetables to sell at the market.
