- The Jeep club went out to theNorth Eastern states this summer to s grab a few badges. Here is so little bit of footage i grabbed while we were at Jericho Mountain State Park. (still not a huge fan of naming the 'park' as the 'badge trail' ) Soo much driving, but we managed to grab all 6 over there.

Nice I am doing this in September 2024. Got my campsite reserved.
We just did a drive by...in and out and off to the next place...was part of a week long trip to get all the north east badges.
Possibly my next to do trail. Looks fun and fairly easy. Be safe on your next trip. 😊
There's some stuff for every level, we just stuck to the greenish loop through the middle as we had to drive a bit that afternoon to get to our next destination.
Gonna need to give it some "go go juice" had me cracking up lol

Its a pretty nice area. We pretty much just did an out/back green section as we still had quite a bit of driving that day. (on top of the 4 hour drive there that morning)

Sweet man I’ve been looking for someone doing trails in a similar year mines a 2021 unmodified still.
My first year i was stock with rock sliders. Then after that i jumped into lift and tires because i wanted to start leading rides. So look at my earlier vids for my stock footage.

So looking at your mods on the Cherokee (unlike most people) - what does the 2 1/2 in lift give you for overall clearance at the pumpkins? I have a stock Sahara w/ 32's and I'm at roughly 10" with no lift kit.
What mods have you done to that Cherokee? I had no idea they were that good?

What 4 wheel drive mode do you use ? I typical switch between auto and rock but still haven't grasped much of a difference between the two
I put up a video this spring about how to use the different systems in 4Low. That is how i use the 4x4 systems.

FYI, 99% of the time i'm on a trail...i'm in 4Low, and in "Auto" mode. Only use the other modes for their specific obstacles. I'll use the locker on an as-needed basis as well, will turn it on for specific situations where i want to guarantee traction, and turn it right back off once i'm through.

How bad was the scraping? The rocks looked pretty big! Kinda reminded me of trail 26 at windrock
The scraping was as shown. Not bad, just enough to know something had rubbed underneath.
Watch the video, it was almost as if they where aiming for rocks.
@@yermoffroad it is better to mount the rocks with the tires than to try to miss the rocks just to the inside of the wheel. Yes there were a few times i didn't see the rock and it scraped my control arms.
Is there minimum requirements for the Jeeps? Any recommendations on others going here?
For the park, no minimum requirements. There are trails of varying difficulty that even stocks can do without damage. The trails we did, we did have a couple stock rigs with us, and they did fine. For the intermediate trails, stocks can probly do them with a good driver and rubbing on some rocks.
@@FearlessTrailhawk perfect, we don’t have any that are stock. They are at least lifted with 33s. From there it’s varies in tire size, lockers and winches. We have one on 39” swampers spool and duel winches.

my friend, please tell me if the cherokee really has a problematic all-wheel drive system? is it true that it often breaks down! I bought myself a '20 Cherokee and am very worried about it!
They are things, made by people. Sometimes they are great, sometimes they are not. I cannot speak to every vehicle ever made. I only know that typically you only hear the bad stories, as the people who have never had any issue do go around constantly complaining about it.
I am not an engineer, and was not involved with the design of the drivetrain on the KL, so i can't say if it was poorly designed or not, as i simply don't know.
All i do know is that Jeep is somewhere in the middle of the pack when it comes to overall reliability according to the major polls and industry sources.

Again, there are LOTS of people who have never had any issues at all. And there are some people who have had their share of issues. How my vehicle has faired will in no way effect your vehicle. Worrying about it breaking down will change nothing if it does, or doesn't. If you are worried about it breaking down, purchase the warranty, thats what its for.
I have 70k miles on mine and have had my share of repairs. Whether or not those repairs were hastened by constant offroading, i'll never know. But i DO know lots of people who offroad often, for YEARS, and they have had ZERO repairs. Again, just because i broke something, doesn't mean everyone else will.
As stated above, Jeep is in the middle of the board for reliability, that means they don't breakdown any more often than most other vehicles.

I cannot buy a guarantee, I myself am from Ukraine and bought the car as damaged at an auction in the United States, so buying a guarantee is not an option! I have a Cherokee Trailhawk 2020, 17 miles! I want to change all the oils in the 4wd system on this run!
Have you changed oils in two gearboxes?
Have you ever had an issue with the four wheel drive system getting overheated? I've heard about this is sand and sometimes snow... Seems odd.
Once, that i can recall. It was after a rather steep and loose hill climb that i had taken multiple attempts at. Not totally unexpected...
@@FearlessTrailhawk and this was your new TH? I'm very disappointed in this actually. I'm concerned about driving to and from work in bad snowy conditions. Would using a different mode or diff lock make it less likely to happen?
So, because i had my system overheat ONCE, on a summer day, after taxing the system a lot trying to make a loose rocky climb, you are very concerned that you will have this problem often in the snow?
Driving in bad snowy conditions, you should be in 'snow' mode. Auto will do okay in snow, but 'snow' has tuned the traction control to function the best in snowy road conditions The modes will not greatly effect if the system overheats or not. imho. Diff lock? You can only lock the rear diff in 4Low, so i don't suspect that you'd be using it on your daily commute.
Also, i spent a whole weekend puttering around the sand dunes last summer and never had an issue.
@@FearlessTrailhawk Not just because you had it happen "once" but also due to the fact it seems like a widely know issue. More so with the older 14-15 models. My neighbor had it happen to her in sand mode. Also I have read about it happening during deep snow travels.
Great vid as always - one question - did you run the actual badge route or did you just hit some trails at the park?
The full size trails in the park consist mostly of a forked out/back route that cuts across the middle of a loop-ish. The badge appears to be the out/back on both sides of the fork. Due to time constraints we decided to just to the one out/back leg. So we did *most* of it.
@@FearlessTrailhawk we have a group heading up from PA this weekend. we are planning on running the whole loop. Maprika map for the trail shows arrows - is the trail one way? also how long did it take you to do the half out and back?

When i was looking at it at the time, the 'trail' shown on the badge was most of the whole park. Would have been cool, yes, but we didn't have time to do all that.
I'm still not a fan of all these generic 'parks' being added recently with no actual listing of specific trail names/numbers. Give me a concrete matter of fact trail name, none of this guessing by people who didn't create the badges.
