  • Tommy Lee's 'The Crüecifly" Roller Coaster Drum Solo LIVE @The Greensboro Coliseum Complex October 22nd 2014 on Motley Crue's Final Tour
    About MÖTLEY CRÜE:
Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, the quartet-Vince Neil (vocals), Mick Mars (guitars), Nikki Sixx (bass) and Tommy Lee (drums)-has commandeered the rock pantheon for over 30 years. In that time, they have accumulated worldwide album sales exceeding 80 million, seven platinum or multi-platinum albums, 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits, six Top 20 pop singles, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, three Grammy nominations, four New York Times bestsellers (including the band’s biography, THE DIRT) and countless sold out tours across the globe, playing to millions of fans. Motley Crue was the first rock band in history to have completed an epic sold-out Las Vegas residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The band continues to remain on the forefront of entertainment reinventing themselves via not only their music but also their mind blowing live shows featuring never seen before elements, such as Tommy Lee’s 360 drum roller coaster. Motley Crue was featured in KIA MOTORS’ award winning 2012 Super Bowl commercial.
After more than three decades together, iconic rock ‘n roll band MÖTLEY CRÜE announced The Final Tour and the band’s ultimate retirement. The announcement was solidified when the band signed a formal Cessation Of Touring Agreement, effective at the end of 2015.
With over 80 million albums sold, MÖTLEY CRÜE has sold out countless tours across the globe and spawned more than 2,500 MÖTLEY CRÜE branded items sold in over 30 countries. MÖTLEY CRÜE has proven they know how to make a lasting impression and this tour will be no different. Fans can expect to hear the catalogue of their chart- topping hits and look forward to mind-blowing, unparalleled live production.
“When it comes to putting together a new show we always push the envelope and that’s part of Motley Crue’s legacy,” explains Nikki Sixx (bass). “As far as letting on to what we’re doing, that would be like finding out what you’re getting for Christmas before you open the presents. We think in an age of too much information, we’d like to keep some surprises close to our chest until we launch the Final Tour.”
The Final Tour presented by Dodge and produced by Live Nation will bring MÖTLEY CRÜE with special guest Alice Cooper to Greensboro Coliseum on October 22.

Saw this show in DC with vip tix. I’ve been hunting this music mix ever since. A performance like this sticks with you forever. It lives rent free in my head and I’m not even mad about it. Still amazing to see 10yrs later (gawd has it been that long?)

The main thing that's impressed me is Tommy Lee taking his drum solo to a new level with his crazy drum rigs and innovations. "The Crüecifly" takes the cake. Better than his sideways roller coaster drums. The best one overall was back from the "Wild Side" video.

Had the BEST F***ING TIME!!! They were here playing in Moline, Illinois show on the 9th of Nov. Someone also videotaped this awesome performance from Tommy Lee, but your video is much more in detail as you had great footage of him drumming! Thank you for sharing what I would consider as my one and only unforgettable experience of seeing Motley Crue - A GREAT BAND go out with a BANG!!!!

Excellent sell out (14,000 seats) at the Spokane arena! November 22,2014. Huge flame throwers, fireworks, pole dancers, Guitar and drum solos. Heart pounding bass and drum kit bass sounds!!!
I'm hoping the Crue have a 'post retirement' tour like the Ozzy did with his "retirement sucks" tour.! Well Done.!

I love when people say he's a top 10 drummer, he's not! Don't get me wrong I don't mind Motley Crue, I've seen them live four times in the last 25 years. What you see in this video is something any established drummer can do, other than playing upside down. I remember seeing them and his drum solo consisted of him playing along with Zeppelin tunes. I got my first drum kit when I was 12, I can play Bonham just as good as Tommy Lee can, any decent drummer can. The only thing this video proves to people that hasn't seen Motley live is that Tommy has a very limited vocabulary.

Tommy is an ave drummer at best, but he keeps the rhythm and groove going, a requirement. I give him an A for showmanship and the ability to play in all these positions from all their tours, physically hard to do no doubt. I also give an A to the engineers to design these setups and make sure they work properly for him. Especially this one.

Whether you love or hate Crue, or are indifferent, you gotta admit - that drumming device is AB-SO-FUCKEN-LUTE-LY IN-FUCKEN-SANE. I've never heard Tommy talk about the physics of it, such as how he compensates for gravitational drag when he's upside down. Is there any interview where he reveals the technical aspects like that?
One learns to drum with gravity pulling one's weight downwards; you're geared toward hitting downwards. What happens to your style/timing/coordination when you have to hit "upwards" against gravity? And in his case, at all angles leading up to 180-degrees upside-down, as it's spinning? I do notice that he's keeping the whole solo pretty simple rudiments, rather than anything challenging; and most of the time when he's upside down, he either stops or does simple rolls. Not taking anything away from him - he's an incredible drummer, but to try this when you're at his age... how much practice did he have to do on it in real time?
It's almost like the "drum solo" is basically to show off that he can actually PLAY at all those changing angles against gravity.
And shit! The mind boggles on the logistics behind actually CONSTRUCTING that thing, and all the details they would have had to address....
(Hate the house music that accompanies him, though... does he really think people are digging that Beyonce/Black-Eyed Peas kinda stuff?) Man, you are being suspended over the arena on a spinning rollercoaster - we're gonna love you anyway! Play some heavy duty backing tracks, fucker!

I guess I'm late to the party, but the most important thing here are the nods to the '94 album including a clip of Hammered which is the hair metal equiv of a diss track on Vince.

Right when I first sat down at like 6:25pm I went to take a picture of the stage while the lights were still up and an usher told me no pictures. I straight up said "Do you think you are going to stop 10,000 people with smart phones? You are fighting a lost cause." She just walked off. And here's the whole concert on UA-cam. I guess see lost her fight. LOL

I love Motley. Have for decades. I have to admit watching this on this video isn't very impressive, but as with a lot of live performances, you had to be there to appreciate it, and I wasn't. Nor were the people with the negative comments, but I will agree with the opinions of Tommy Lee having shitty taste in music. I wish I had been there to see it, as I am sure it was an incredible experience as were the Motley concerts I had been able to attend.
