How that man did not win a Gold Glove is beyond my comprehension. One of the greatest fielding outfielders I've ever seen.
I played baseball for a long time, and I'd like to think I was pretty good at defence. The catch he makes over the left field wall is one of the greatest catches you will ever see.
For sure. Did you know that wall is 10 feet high? It is actually incredible, probably one of the greatest robbed homers in MLB history.
I got a similar catch as the Pillar catch over left field by Josh Reddick. Watch the first catch its amazing.

The scary thing is that he is on pace for an even BETTER season in the field this year. He is making just as many diving catches, but he is reading the ball even better off the bat. A lot of the catches he dove for last year are simply nice running grabs this year.
And of course, he is still making those amazing diving grabs. Only last year, they would have fallen for hits. Superman has nothing on this guy.

Because as good as he was in 2015, Kevin Kiermaier had the greatest season in CF in baseball history. It wasn't even close. Kiermaier had 5 dWAR. +2 is gold glove level. Pillar, for the record, posted a 2.8.
This year though, Pillar is leading the way not just among CFs, but all players in the majors. He and Brandon Crawford are tied at 1.5, on pace for a 4.5 season.

My point was that an argument can be made that Pillar is part hot-dog, and that he's looking to dive. Also, my point is that White gets a better jump on the balls and can sense better where the ball is going... and not that he's simply a faster runner.

I watched every "Superman" like catch he made last year. I didn't watch every catch but it was awesome seeing him making those catches. Tough luck though he didn't make any game winning catches like that Tampa Bay player made.

That's very untrue. KP was by far the best CFer in 2015 and 2016. KK won simply because of a very bias metric, which is DRS. KP doubled KK's catches made out of zone, yet KP's UZR and DRS were significantly lower... How does that happen?
How is the Mlb not bias when KK was barely eligible in 2016, yet he had "better" stats than Pillar, who played like 60 more games? And to add to that, in 2017, Kiermaier was not eligible and for some reason, Buxton won the GG. The same Buxton that was one of the most atrocious CFers in the league in 2016. There's nothing wrong with improving your game, but going from atrocious to golden within 1 is simply ridiculous. And Buxton never did anything since then, defensively.
So yes, Pillar should have won in 2015, 2016 and 2017. If he was playing for the Yankees or the Red Sox, he would have won them during that time.

Can I postulate a theory. Are they hesitant to award the gold glove to a non-Rawlings user? Pillar only switched to Rawlings in the last couple of years, but in 2015 he was using another brand. Not sure how the powers that be leverage that aspect.
