Fully agree. Momentum is very important for eSports players, particularly in a 'new' game like valorant where few players have the performance track record.
Yay missing the team trade window due to c9 gave teams the opportunity to realize that there are good-enough players out there who could perform as well, and drawing a much lower salary. I won't know better, but I feel that his stint at DSG messed him up quite bad as well.

one of the worst arguments ever is the whole "chamber abuser" shit, every single team had a chamber in that meta. it's not their fault that yay gapped everyone else's chamber
It's sorta right but from the angle that chamber just so happened to take advantage of Yay's strengths. He absolutely excels at shooting while stationary which is why he is so much stronger on chamber than other agents.

i dont understand why everybodys shitting on yay. in 2023 he played well at lockin and c9 dropped him. he then played his first matches in t2 with dsg, and played meh (he had his moments). then steel got benched and it all went to shit. Exalt took over and yay was basically supposed to keep the team afloat. no hate to exalt btw, great player, but hard to igl as duelist and aggro player. i 100% believe if c9 kept yay he wouldve farmed. if ur saying shit like chamber abuser, keep in mind that not only did he shit on prx and play well against drx with nerfed chamber, but also showcased his fucking sage. hes still probably one of the best, and i want him to be able to show that this year

Leo would be considered the goat already if he played duelist, sadly the casual watchers only see flashy duelists as cool so they are always talked about as the goat.
yes he was a top3 player but its not like there were 0 players that could be CONSIDERED to be better
im not saying that demon1 is better but to some people he is and that i valid even with the lack of playtime he was on two roles and always the best in the lobby no matter who he played
leo wouldnt do Leo stuff if he were a duelist tho, I mean he has a great year alongside alfajer both are the top of their roles, and if they won champs an any other trophy on 2024 they would be in that convo alongside chornicle and derke
doesnt work like that though. the reason why leo is so good is because hes on initiator. him being on duelist would undoubtedly change his relaxed playstyle and not make him as good as he is now.
and people like alfajer and less are considered some of the best while still on controller/sentinel
@@Fluskar yeah i agree, initiator is definitely the best role for leo, but my point moreso is that support players dont get the hype they deserve even if they are better than the flashy duelists. I believe that leo is so good that if he was a duelist player he would get hyped up more since ppl barely talk about imo the best player itw.
honestly i think alfajer is the goat. hes ranked #2 in fair 1v1 rifle duels wins, behind demon1 but he doesnt play duelist and he is a clutch god. every round he wins is a masterclass and its just so satisfying to watch him play

Most pros are currently not playing ranked because they're scrimming for next season. In this case, Yay is probably scrimming a lot with Bleed and using a different account as he's in Asia now.

he was the best in his prime but he's not really the GOAT, both Leo and Aspas (maybe Derke too) have held their peak performance for longer, he's probably top 5 still though

I think saying 'at his Prime' for any player is just redundant because any player at their prime is seemingly unbeatable so I stand by the line that greatness over a long period of time > greatness for a short time span or tournament or 2.
In that case I'd argue the likes of Jinggg, Forsaken, nAts, Suygetsu, Shao are probably the most consistent players of all time and probably deserves thee nod better but then again they don't have THE factor or moments that someone like yay, tenz or demon1 has/had.
yay's prime was an entire year and a half and only going negative on 3 maps and the people you have mentioned with the exception of paper rex players are single tournament wonders.
