With Nvidia ending official support for their streaming tech I suspect sunshine/moonlight is going to be way more important. Please make updated videos this coming year! Subbed!
Thanks buddy! I've been itching to play withcer 3 update like this but CDPR needs to give me one more stability and fps update before I jump back in.. going to fine tune and configure tonight using your guide I really appreciate it!
ive debated doing this for a while now and now that my computer has a wired ethernet connection and i have 5ghz wireless in the room i want to stream to i decided to finally do it and low and behold heres an up to date tutorial uploaded the same day i decided to sit down and figure it out. thanks for the tutorial
Top stuff, played around with the inbuilt steam in home streaming and parsec and wasnt happy with how badly they looked, found out and sunshine (i have an AMD card) and used your video to get it all setup. Can't believe how much better streaming looks with this software over the others i've tried
I'm glad I got this part of the process to work at least, because I had just swapped to a new AMD instead of my Nvidia card. I'll just have to troubleshoot Moonlight itself because it disconnects immediately. But thank you for this!
Thank you dude this works amazingly, i setup moonlight on my switch a few months ago but it was really laggy with Gerforce experience, i just presumed it was an internet issue til i heard about this
Thanks for the guide, seems easier than I expected. I’m in the market for a GPU but with Nvidia prices being what they are I’m waiting to see what RDNA3 is going to cost. Moonlight is something I use a couple times every week so pretty much a must have for me. Glad to see it’s possible on AMD. I’d love to see some latency tests and I’m looking forward to the optimisation vid!
I see a fellow NZB lover. This is a man I can trust 😂 On a more serious note --- Thanks for the video! Debating doing this with a handheld to stream pc via ethernet.
Thank you for the great tut, went to install amd link so my daughter could stream to her new tablet, and found out it no longer exists.. It looks like many of the big corps that had a game streaming app discontinued them, thank jah for nerds and open source.
Finally found something that works well with my pi5! Steam seems to have stopped working on their pi or arm based projects. Android wouldn't work with the pi 5 for me. Parsec also stopped supporting the pi. But moonlight seems to work absolutely perfectly 😊 nice. I used to use a 50' HDMI cable to stream to my living room TV. But my new GPU only supports 25' cables. Guess 2.1 HDMI doesn't go as far! But this is cool because it works anywhere my pi is. Setup a VPN into my network and I can game anywhere!
Great video! Thank you very much for posting this. Very informative and helpful! I am trying to sort out a way to use moonlight on my retropie while having an AMD gpu and then use playnite as a way of capturing all of my games. I will travel down the rabbit hole and hopefully I can sort it out!
Thanks Mike! I had the problem of not being able to establish a connection and I would have to open a port, but I only had to switch off HDR in Windows. (In case people have the same problem.)
Were you getting an immediate connection terminated message? I was trying to get this running today on my shield and it was terminating right away, but I had turned HDR on in widows ass I was hoping I could stream using HDR.
@@DSP_Visuals I got a notification immediately after starting. No connection was initially established. Unfortunately I don't know if it works with HDR. I hope this will only be the beginning for Sunshine, later it will definitely be better structured and have more functions. - Google Translater 😄 -
Yes, looking forward to that video as to how to optimize those gaming settings. Also, are you able to show us how to add additional “applications” to sunshine?
Thanks, good video, but what if moonlight can't find your pc directly? This and other simple troubleshooting tips should be included in a video like this
Seconded. I had this issue, it turned out to be due to Windows classifying my home network as Public by default rather than Private. NVIDIA Gamestream worked despite this, but I needed to change it to Private for Sunshine to start working.
Thank you very much, buddy. Never get it correct before, you helped me a lot. I was trying to use moonlight hoster tool and it was giving a error. Sorry for bad english
Maybe I am missing it, but I am not seeing the follow up config/optimize video you mentioned at the end? I have 2 systems one running an AMD GPU and one running a NVIDIA GPU - the controls on the AMD system are extremely laggy
hi thank you for the video, pretty straight foward and easy to understand and follow the thing is i have a problem. I have a paired BT controller on my phone and sunshine gave me this. Attention! Sunshine detected these errors during startup. We STRONGLY RECOMMEND fixing them before streaming. Fatal: ViGEmBus is not installed or running. You must install ViGEmBus for gamepad support! where do i have to install this to play with my phone controller? on the pc or the phone?
Ive tried this but the pin doesnt work. The Moonlight pairing prompts for gamestream and if I cancel that it ends pairing. I disabled gamestream and now it wont even show pin for pairing. Am I doing something wrong?
What are some out of the box applications for sunshine. Desktop is default and gives you a remote desktop. If you have. Torrent run or VPN you can look and see what is running or finished. I'm just looking to see what people have linked.
Two questions: 1) How do you log out of Sunshine on Windows ? Because it doesn't say so anywhere. 2) How do you exit Moonlight on Android ? By closing the program ?
Hi Mike, I've got some problem when I try to run steam or any other game with message: (Failed to start RTSP handshake (error 503) Check your firewall and port forwarding rules for ports TCP48010, UDP 48000, UDP 48010
I have an AMD GPU and I have both Parsec and Sunlight. Parsec runs smoothly, 1440, 60fps, connected to 300mbs hardwired but when I try to stream from moonlight, I get a lot of pixelation and blurry after about 5 mins on the same settings. I’ve tried everything - vsynch, lowering bitrates, etc. I still get pixelation after a while.
Since nvidia stopped gamestream or whatever it's called, running sunshine on the PC and connecting with moonlight is far far superior to connecting to the old geforce nvidia program on PC
How to add host manually using ip address? I’m so close to play pc games but I’m can’t connect to pc because it doesn’t show up, also I’m using micro usb to usb connected to phone using as Ethernet (Wi-Fi hotspot)
When I disconnect my RGB10 Max 2 from Sunshine, my windows mouse becomes invisible and there's no way to get it to be visible again! I can still click things but the cursor is gone! Any idea why?

I have my SteamDeck paired with my PC. Its not entirely clear how to unpair the two outside of shutting one of the devices off entirely.
This was really helpful. I assume this will work only if both devices are connected to the same network. Is there a solution to make it work even if the two devices are not connected to the same network.
This seems like a good place to mention an issue regarding Moonlight and Mediatek devices. Some People with Mediatek devices are experiencing Long decoding times and inconsistent client framerates, this is due to changes to the Android rom when upgrading in my case from android 12 to 13 on my lenovo tablet. It appears the newer android version no longer has a low latency mode in any of the decoders. I have another device that has 3-7 ms decode times (exynos chip), while my tablet with Mediatek has decode times of 20,30ms. Its a bummer short of downgrading android there seems to be no solution. Parsec has acceptable performance albeit with some latency, but Moonlight has unplayable performance with a much lower framerate than the host. I would ask if there is something I have tried everything short of downgrading back to android 12 (if possible)
I had this working perfectly then about a week or two ago the controller stopped working. I’m using Steam deck with Moonlight and my pc as host with Sunshine. I used to be able to use the buttons/joysticks/triggers on my steam deck so basically as a controller and suddenly it stopped working. Any idea what it could be?
Does Sunshine only work with devices hooked up to the same local network? I was wondering since I have a desktop I want to access from my laptop whenever I'm outside. Thanks for your time!
Please could you do your setup/configuration video? I can get so far but when I connect Moonlight to PC, the application runs but connection is terminated instantly and I can't work out why.
