  • The plan of the temple that is being constructed by Chandrakant Sompura, has been modified after the Supreme Court judgement to be twice the size to accommodate the many devotees expected to visit the temple on a regular basis.
According to the modified plan, the temple would have a shikhara over the sanctum sanctorum along with five domes, instead of two domes decided in the previous plan.
For the unversed, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad directed the architect to start with the preparations back in 1990, when no measuring tape was allowed in the premises. It was through his footsteps that the architect, credited for the design of more than 200 temples, estimated the land before beginning to work on the project.
A grandeur North Indian temple architecture has been chosen for this architectural marvel.
This Nagara style temple will be 161 feet in height, which is higher than what was originally planned.
The temple will have three storeys, designed on the lines of Vastushastra.
The temple will have five madaps in all, namely, Garbhagriha, Kudu Mandap, Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap and Kirtan Mandap.
The number of pillars has also been increased from 212 in the previous plan to 360. Every aspect has to be reconsidered as per the new plan to keep the temple a fine amalgamation of numerous structures.
Sompura, who is working with his two sons on this temple, believes it will take 3-3.5 years to complete the structure.
