Some old people just can't see themselves retiring, they've always got to have a project. Some people have gardens, some people turn into cyborg crimelords acting on violent bloodfeuds...some people go birdwatching
He is one of the more underrated villains in Spider-Man's rogue. I'm a little surprised we haven't seen him in any live-action movies that I can think of, not even as a cameo
True, which reflects a issue with many of the Spider Man films: Outside from Homecoming, none of them ever explore Spider Man as street level hero dealing with NY underworld and how his actions lead to the creation of super villains (something that was better explored in Spectacular Spider Man), Most them have Spider Man dealing with super villain that is trying to destroy the city (ex: Doctor Octopus, The Lizard) or trying to kill him and his loved ones (ex: Green Goblin, Mysterio)
@@Supremmo Maybe in Holland's Spider Man 4 since Silvermane motivation of wanting to be young again could create a parallell to Peter story post NWH. Just like Silvermane, Peter also lost his aunt and his identity as Peter Parker (losing his friends). He would probably have difficult to find new allies, not wanting to put them in danger. The difference could be that, while Peter learns to be optimistic of his new life and let new people in (characters like Randy Robertson, Gwen Stacy, Black Cat or maybe Miles Morales), Silvermane refuses to change bc of his obsession with his glory days and fear of dying old and forgotten.
Plus, his presence could work to set up villains like Mr Negative for future films. The MCU already established this sub-plot of goverment beginning to create their own super-humans (Wandavision, FaWS, Wakanda Forever), so Silvermane could continue this by revelaing the underworld is also starting to create their own super villains and mercenaries.
Very underrated villain! Besides being responsible for Mr Negative origin, the concept of Silvermane being an old crime boss who wanted to regain his youth and reclaim his power, while sound silly, it actually creates nice contrast between Silvermane (a old man who wants to be younger again) and Spider Man (a teenager who learns to grow and become a mature and responsible man)
I liked how you talked about the rise of superheroes and super villains after Silvermane reached old age. It really does feel like a Marvel age came to be, no pun intended.
How many of you remember seeing Silvermane in the 90s Spider-Man animated TV show where he used the tablet to regain his youth only to end up as an infant child but then he tried to drain the youth of Spider-Man only to turn old again after Vulture saved the wall crawler?
I feel Bendis addresses cont that either led to dead ends or eventually was mishandled regardless he’s great or was at giving old characters a second life or allowing them to shine in major titles ….. also pretty sure the HOOD took care of the Maggia in the Bendisverse
Silvermane was a great character bridging the gap between organized crime and super powered criminals. Although once he became a cyborg his story went completely off the rails. I blame Marvel editorial for not knowing if he was human or cyborg or even alive or dead in his later exploits. How bout a video on RED NORVELL, the red headed Thor stand in. As always MAKE MINE THE MERRY MARVELITE!!!!
@@Supremmo on the contrary, he was the star of the book when the Thor title became Journey into Mystery again during Heroes Reborn. He was a featured player in the Marvel Universe, even guest starring in Incredible Hulk. He has a much bigger story than most people realize. Which is why he needs a video.
@@christopherulichney I remember his Hulk appearance and I’m not saying a video can’t be done about him. I’m just saying it would be extremely shorter than most of the vids on this channel.

Jesus, this guy’s like comic book Kill-monger; keeps coming back to life even when killed. Like Vulture in the 90’s Spider-Man show said, “maybe you should change your name to: the cockroach.”

My respect to the other side. Please keep on making more great Marvel history recaps! A video on the Night Nurse would be high on my wish list!
Bingo! At that time, The Mafia had a lot of pull and they had hand in the magazine distribution market. Remember, the Mafia got their name removed from The Godfather script. There whole thing was operating as a secret society.
Are you going to do history of Ironheart, M'Baku, Namora, Attuma and Shuri as the Black Panther since they played a major role in the Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie?
Greetings, Merry Marvelite!! I've always loved Marvel Comics since I was a kid, and your videos on the Marvel Universe are great. You, besides Comic Book Girl 19 (another comic book enthusiast) have earned my respect for your hard work and dedication. Keep up the good work! 👍🏿
Can you do history of the Elementals(Hellfire, Magnum, Hydron and Zephyr), Bastion, Master Mold, Nimrod, Inferno, Zora_Vukovic Victorious, Night Nurse, Moondragon, Phyla_Vell and Genis-Vell along with the Supreme Intelligence, Puppet_Master, Diablo, Mole_Man and Angel/Archangel along with Exodus and Ex-Nhilo?
What do you think is the best thing about Silvermane in the comics compared to Tombstone and Hammerhead? Which one of his powers and abilities do you think is the best?
What do you think is the best thing about Silvermane working with Hydra? What happened to his son? Is Silvermane similar to Zheng-Zu since the only thing they have in common is that they find a way to live longer than anyone else?
As an American Mafia AKA La Cosa Nostra historian I get a kick outta the way Silvermane's story incorporated so many REAL LIFE mob names & actual incidents into it For example.. the Hell's Kitchen mob boss Vincent Coll is obviously based on real life 30s mobster Vincent Mad Dog Coll..a rival of Arthur Fleganheimer AKA Dutch Schultz.. Also the one mob boss being ANTI narcotics was obviously based on real life NYC based Gambino Family boss Carlo Gambino.& Silvermane being PRO narcotics was based on Bonnano Family boss Joe Bonnano. Lastly.. the fact that Marvel Comics used the name MAGGIA instead of MAFIA is because in the late 60s early 70s..the Italian Civil Rights League..led by Colombo Family boss Joe Colombo... was coming out AGAINST the word MAFIA being used as a term for Organized Crime groups..,& they insisted that Marvel Comics..as well as the producers of the movie The Godfather NOT use the name MAFIA in there books & movies.. even the FBI was forced to stop using Mafia..& they now use LCN .. abbreviation for La Cosa Nostra.. instead of Mafia.
Flint Makro, Cain Marko, Man Mountain Marko, how many villains are named Marko in the marvel universe? Though at least one of them is actually named William Baker.
Yeah I don't understand why these characters have the same last name if they're not related or anything but then again this is something that's happening in real life as well
Jessica Jones and Rick Jones have the same last name and they’re not related. Bill Foster aka Goliath and Jane Foster share the same surname and aren’t related either. It happens.
Is it shocking to hear that Silvermane is responsible for Mister Negative, Cloak and Dagger getting their powers? What was up with his connection with Dagger?
Are you going to do history of lesser known characters like Rom_the_Spaceknight, Stingray, Ultimo, Inferno, Zora_Vukovic Victorious, Flerken, Blacklash, Deathlok, Elematrix, Vertigo, Masked Raider, Red_Wolf, Tarantula, Forge, Bishop, Titanium_Man, Crimson Dynamo, Dreadknight, Deathcry, Kobik AKA the Cosmic Cube, Blizzard, Quasar, Starbrand, Nightmask, Bastion, Master Mold, Nimrod, Starhawk, Fixer, Whirlwind, Chemistro, Whiplash, the Controller, Madam_Masque, Count_Nefaria, Ava Ayala the White Tiger, Crossfire, Living Laser, Century, Lore and Technovore?
I do not get it, people say "he is so underrated" which is silly, they have no rating system for comic book characters. A wise man once told me to my face "it is what it is, OH YEA"
Can you do history of the Living_Brain, the Elementals, Cyclone, Hydro Man, Molten Man, Puck, Sandman, Rom_the_Spaceknight, Stingray, Quasar, Starbrand, Nightmask, Ava Ayala the White Tiger, Crossfire, Living Laser, Century, Lore and Technovore?
No, that's a reach. This is a meh villain that got used way too long. He should have ended after the Kingpin/ Dagger storyline and that was pushing it.
Silvermain origin though Italian in origin he has connections to another super villain, I recall a story in Cpt America comics were Cpt was confront by him, this was a Hydra story and had Madam Hydra as the main lead in the story till Silvermain shows up at this stage the two suddenly drew close and this when Cpt America realised that they were lovers? It also seems they fell out with each other but remained in contact. Why was this. Seems Madam Hydra kept a secret. Her daughter? The other side of the Silvermain origin is his also related to the Starks. I recall an episode of Agent Carter episode where Silvermain appears in it and says Howard Stark is a cousin to him if true, of course? I also sure he has a connection to many others villains
Can you do history of Ironheart, Amatsu-Mikaboshi, Arno_Stark Iron Man, Squirrel_Girl, Constrictor, Deathlok, Amadeus_Cho, the Griever, Pepper Potts AKA Rescue and the Agents of Atlas along with Crescent, Morgan_Le_Fey, White Fox and Luna Snow?
Can you do history of Master Pandemonium, Sleepwalker, D'Spayre, Lilith, Chthon, Mephisto, Black heart, Dormammu, Clea, Nightmare and Pkzkrfmknna along with Firestar and Vance_Astrovik AKA Justice?
What is up with Silvermane chasing after youth? Is he similar to Arnim-Zola when he transferred his consciousness into a Cyborg body? Can you do history of Arnim-Zola?
It would have been amazing if a Marvel Comics writer would have made both Nick Fury & Silvermane use the SAME ANTI AGING formula... I believe that Dum Dum Dugan & Black Widow use the same formula as well.
