A further comment on the advertising. I never saw a single advert, trailer, or announcement for the film. I went in 100% cold knowing only that Brad Pitt was staring in it. I wonder if not knowing anything beforehand hand gave me a better appreciation for the movie.
People always talk about the comedy of the testicular cancer scene, but the real comedy for me is when the two white folks are in the sickle cell group 😂😂😂.. White people rarely get sickle cell, so that scene with Ed Norton looking at Helena while the Black guy looks confusedly at Ed Norton is top notch comedy.
When the narrator calls Tyler from the phone box, have you noticed that the phone says that it DOESN'T receive incoming calls? Yet "Tyler" "calls" him on it! Fantastic film. Very philosophical and provocative. It's one of my favourite films.
I caught the twist from the sixth sense and the village right way, but Fight Club man, once that twist happened, I felt like someone had kicked me in the nuts!
I recently bought and watched commando, I loved it as a kid. Watching it recently ruined it for me. Arnold kept kissing his movie daughter too much in the mouth for me, and how it opened felt more like a couple than a father and daughter bonding montage. Especially the ice cream scene and sandwich scene. It gave the whole movie a weird vibe for me now.
Greetings from New Zealand Gary and Iain. I love your reviews and are a highlight in my week. If you haven't yet, then I recommend watching with the directors commentary with Fincher and Pitt. Really entertaining and shows that they are both very down to earth guys.
Great review, thanks guys and gal. And thank you also for making sure Justine was properly audible. If you invite her on it's only good manners to ensure we can hear her opinion (which is not always the case).
Have you guys checked out these other reviews of _Fight Club_ at all? - ua-cam.com/video/SjLOFLE4JRw/v-deo.html (Maggie Mae Fish) - ua-cam.com/video/Td88z08a_4c/v-deo.html (Dan Olson/FOlding Ideas)
At 16:24 in the shot of him running you are right there isn’t a Starbucks cup but if you look at the far right hand side you see a glowing “half circle” light faint in the background. That is a Starbucks coffee shop sign!
Actually Gents and Lady, Columbine massacre was in April of 1999. Fight Club didn't release until following October. I was 5 miles away when Columbine happened. Bad day especially in Colorado but it was prior to this movie. Love Ya Guys and the channel.
After Goodfellas, this is my favorite film. I've seen it probably 30 times. Read the book several times. It is SO GOOD. I like your analysis. You're nice people with knowledge of film. A nice listen.
24:17 They do say in the film Tyler only works nights Tyler is a weird character that he is the narrator's ideal self but also Tyler acts like the Narrator's Father and bestfriend and I think trying to be all those things is what makes him so destructive 1:04:03 I don't think thats what tyler wants he wants to teach them how to be then they can go be free. But tge issue is these are mostly fatherless directionless guys who have no goals in life so they latch onto tyler someone who is strong and will give them purpouse even though its not what hes advocating but he will slip into the role because thats what he was made to do give directions and voice the narrator's hidden honest thoughts.
Another awesome review, I remember seeing this in the cinema back in the day and people actually walked out in disgust 😧 Fight Club is one of my all time favourite films.
1996 film with Billy Zane & Catherine Zeta Jones called "The Phantom" you got to review & "The Shadow with Alec Baldwin & Tim Curry" just suggestions to consider getting Platinum Trophy for Strange Brigade on PS4 is not easy Gary & Ian you got to survive 3 Horde waves without taking any damage as not getting killed does not count!
I dont think his apartment rly blew up and obviously he didnt phone Tyler coz it is him, he seen his apartment blow up but it was just in his head destroying that lifestyle nd opening his alter ego
Edward Norton's character name is... Tyler. Tyler Durden. It's funny how as a viewer you don't connect that because of vastly different sides of the character that Norton and Pitt portrays.
Given the excellent quality of the reviews on this channel, It's hard to conceive how they could get any better... but oh man do you consistently excel yourselves! This was fantastic. So comprehensive and entertaining. We really are spoiled :) Thank you Gary, Iain & Justine. Big shout out to Andy & The Connet-meister Extraordinaire also! As always... Off The Shelf Forever!
A little detail they missed when they talked about the scene where Norton beats the crap out of himself in front of his boss; when he's on his knees begging to keep his job, he smears his blood on the boss' hands, so when security walks in, it looks like the boss was the one beating Norton.
Fantastic review guys and gal!👍 Still waiting on the reviews for Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris, Andrei Rublev, and Stalker. Believe me their one of the greatest and best films ever made! Please, please go and watch these films. You will not regret it.
I always imagined that Fight Club and Se7en share the same movie verse of the Saw and The Collector movie franchises. Not sure how the entire Brad Pitt actor/characters work but whatever... they all have that dirty, gritty look to them. Oh and Death Sentence, the movie with Kevin Bacon. That's one dark movie verse.
Can u imagine fight club being released now, what with society’s obsession with instagram likes, most people having a closer bond to there phones than the people around them and Donald trump as president. I think we all could do with a little Tyler Durden right now. OTSR 👊👊
Iain and Gary got some viewing for you guys ,it's this mad low budget straight to dvd called rage it's extremely low budget yet near impossible to stop watching give it a bash the acting is low grade but there is just something unsettling about it
A further comment on the advertising. I never saw a single advert, trailer, or announcement for the film. I went in 100% cold knowing only that Brad Pitt was staring in it.

Omg that was hilarious and wonderful
When the narrator calls Tyler from the phone box, have you noticed that the phone says that it DOESN'T receive incoming calls? Yet "Tyler" "calls" him on it! Fantastic film. Very philosophical and provocative. It's one of my favourite films.
I caught the twist from the sixth sense and the village right way, but Fight Club man, once that twist happened, I felt like someone had kicked me in the nuts!
You guys got 2 scenes mixed up. Tyler gets beaten by Lou BEFORE the narrator confronts his boss.
Get it boys (and guest Justine). Keep giving us those good quality reviews.
Love your reviews Gary and Iain!
I just have a couple requests. Any chance you guys can do a Point Break (1991) and a Commando (1985) review?
I recently bought and watched commando, I loved it as a kid. Watching it recently ruined it for me. Arnold kept kissing his movie daughter too much in the mouth for me, and how it opened felt more like a couple than a father and daughter bonding montage. Especially the ice cream scene and sandwich scene. It gave the whole movie a weird vibe for me now.
39:01 Meatloaf had been in an episode of Tales from the Crypt before this, he gets cannibalised by Christopher Reeve and Judd Nelson.
this is a great film period. for me this works as a double feature with 12 Monkeys, another film where Brad Pitt was crazy but cool.
'In Gary & Iain We Trust'
I'm pretty sure Iain is Gary's Tyler Durden
It’s mostly Edward Norton kicking his own ass.
Greetings from New Zealand Gary and Iain. I love your reviews and are a highlight in my week. If you haven't yet, then I recommend watching with the directors commentary with Fincher and Pitt. Really entertaining and shows that they are both very down to earth guys.
His name is Robert Polson
I've got a t-shirt with the line "you've met me at at a very strange time in my life"
With the towers falling.
Great review. Yea, you invited Justine for the review. I liked the movie, and enjoyed this review. 🙂

No review is too long with you guys! Superawesome!
"There are six or seven rules...?" *cut to film* "And the eight rule is..."
Lol - nice cut, guys!
At 16:24 in the shot of him running you are right there isn’t a Starbucks cup but if you look at the far right hand side you see a glowing “half circle” light faint in the background. That is a Starbucks coffee shop sign!
I just realized the 16:24 in your statement when clicked moves the time slider to that time stamp.
Another movie with a huge reveal is A Beautiful Mind with Russell Crowe. Well worth a watch.
Great review guys!! Justine should be in more video reviews, she’s awesome!!
I first saw Helena in Frankenstein that'a how I first heard of her.
Yo, me too!
Actually Gents and Lady, Columbine massacre was in April of 1999. Fight Club didn't release until following October. I was 5 miles away when Columbine happened. Bad day especially in Colorado but it was prior to this movie.

Read the book several times.
It is SO GOOD.
I like your analysis. You're nice people with knowledge of film.
A nice listen.
HIS NAME IS ROBERT PAULSON !!!!
When I saw this in the theatre, was blown away. Very creative. 9.5/10
Great review! Justine brought a lot of depth to the analysis that was very enjoyable. Thanks for the content.
Finally gentleman - and a bonus with Justine!!
I'd love to see what Gary and Ian think of Edward Norton in "Primal Fear".
I was expecting Ian to say
"I am jacks prostate"
Raging prostate lmao
Great review lads. Fight Club is certainly one of Brad Pitts finest movies. Well worth a viewing again.
24:17 They do say in the film Tyler only works nights

''You met me at a very strange time in my life'' :)..Thanks for the review guy's and gals :)
Great review of a great movie, guys. This has been one of my favorite movies since I was in high school.
Another awesome review, I remember seeing this in the cinema back in the day and people actually walked out in disgust 😧 Fight Club is one of my all time favourite films.
Happy Valentines Day Iain & Gary
Another fantastic video, keep it up guys and gal!
Justine is back! Huzzah! Loved the dynamic of the _Excalibur_ review - good to see her again!
You’re finally talking about fight club! :)
20th Anniversary Edition 1999-2019
1:04:56 Look out, everybody. Iain is Cypher!
The " I can't talk about fight Club " joke got stale after the 1st one
Awesome review lads. Can you do the Bill and Ted movies, and The Matrix trilogy please?
No need to bother with the trilogy. The Matrix is all you need to see.
My favourite movie of all time, can’t wait to watch this. Brilliant guys
I dont think his apartment rly blew up and obviously he didnt phone Tyler coz it is him, he seen his apartment blow up but it was just in his head destroying that lifestyle nd opening his alter ego
Arguably the best film of the 90's.
I think it was just luck that he survived. If he purposefully tried to miss... his mind would know.
I think so too
I just happened to rewatch fight club yesterday, such a coincidence
Great review, but no shout out to chuck palahniuk?
Edward Norton's character name is... Tyler. Tyler Durden. It's funny how as a viewer you don't connect that because of vastly different sides of the character that Norton and Pitt portrays.
*The things you own, end up owning you...*
Did you guys get permission from Tyler Durden to review this movie?
Guys you broke the first rule OTSR 👊👊
Easily one of my favorite films of ALL TIME!
Great review as usual guys... & Justine :)
Great review guys 👍👍🎬🎥
and gal
I think my mother told me the twist in some manner.
"We just had a near life experience!"
The one downvote talked about fight club.
One of the greatest movies of the last century
Given the excellent quality of the reviews on this channel, It's hard to conceive how they could get any better... but oh man do you consistently excel yourselves! This was fantastic. Tyler Durden hates arse kissers ;)
What are you guys doing!? Don't talk about Fight Club! lol
Great Review as always! Keep it up!
Oh my god! Thank you!
Nice one guys! Love this film! 😊👊
excellent thanks guys
Who is Justine?
What are the rules for off the shelf reviews then 😄
*"Dont. Talk. About. C.H.U.D."*
Now review Fight Club...The Game!
A little detail they missed when they talked about the scene where Norton beats the crap out of himself in front of his boss; when he's on his knees begging to keep his job, he smears his blood on the boss' hands, so when security walks in, it looks like the boss was the one beating Norton.
Good review for an excellent movie
Should this movie get a SQL?
Fantastic review guys and gal!👍 Still waiting on the reviews for Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris, Andrei Rublev, and Stalker. Believe me their one of the greatest and best films ever made! Please, please go and watch these films. You will not regret it.
Solaris was ok. Stalker, just unwatchable
I was in a fight club back in 1999/2000
I always imagined that Fight Club and Se7en share the same movie verse of the Saw and The Collector movie franchises. Not sure how the entire Brad Pitt actor/characters work but whatever... they all have that dirty, gritty look to them. Oh and Death Sentence, the movie with Kevin Bacon. That's one dark movie verse.
Brad Pitts best movie by far.
Norton too,.
The clever guy
Justine is 🔥
Fan theories speculate the narrator is grown up Calvin from 'Calvin and Hobbes' and Tyler is his adult version of Hobbes.
Great review as always, thank you! Could you please do a review on Death machine, 1994? imho, the movie is just one big piece of humor and delight :)
Great movie but even beter soundtracks
Hey Justine, how you doin? :)
I love you guys
YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB!!!
You don't talk about fight club
Just watched Manchester by the Sea. Try and review that without balling your eyes out fellas!
The movie is great, but I'm always suspicious of those who proclaim it as their favorite, at least until they explain why.
I love that fighting film so I do Iain & Gary
justine!
Excellent review. On the subject of 9/11 you guys should review The Medusa Touch with Richard Burton next.
Can u imagine fight club being released now, what with society’s obsession with instagram likes, most people having a closer bond to there phones than the people around them and Donald trump as president. I think we all could do with a little Tyler Durden right now. OTSR 👊👊
Trump is tyler's alter ego. A free guy who doesn't give a shit
capitalism disliked this!

*Gary and Iain will return in Avengers - Endgame*
Niiiice!
a new member to the team she's good x
And girl
For a thing you're not supposed to talk about, three people spend more than a hour talking about it.
Iain and Gary got some viewing for you guys ,it's this mad low budget straight to dvd called rage it's extremely low budget yet near impossible to stop watching give it a bash the acting is low grade but there is just something unsettling about it
