    This dude is amazing. 100% agree. You will be able to bring your thoughts, will, ideas into reality with learning how to code and with GPT-3 / 4 , my gosh, you'll have a super power in no time.

    If I understood it correctly the first day spent in just 20 minutes does not equal to learning other concepts in 20 minute increments. I doubt (unless the person is a genius or outlier or whatever) that more hard concepts can be learned so fast. Of course, props to the person who did gpt times.

    GPT is like the calculator, it's gonna open up a lot of possibilities. Mathematicians are still here, and devs are no different.
    We will differently see a shift in what most devs spend their time on.

      The question is not what GPT is able to do today. Learning to code is a large investment taking a long time (and thus taking a long time to recover/recuperate). People keep making this same mistake over and over again, that they project the current state of affairs into the future, maybe envisioning minor and slow improvement. But if you look back at the past few years this is not what has been happening and unless you think that for some reason the trend will top just now then making claims about the future (even the near future) based on current AI capabilities doesn't make much sense.

    Undercooked analysis. The question is how these technologies change the value chain; the assumption too many make is that the value chain remains static, and generative algorithms help them lever up in that chain. This has never been true of automation.
    The reasons to still learn to code are:
    - that GPT, specifically, is limited to combinations of code patterns it has seen before;
    - that it doesn't have any verifier for correctness; and
    - that *you can't predict what novel capacities will become accessible due to these automations eating the low end*.

    Not everyone should learn to code…
