    I enjoy the analysis, but wish I heard more balance in the commentary around frankly 'not very rare' 90s Jordan inserts that aren't numbered and plentiful, but fetching big $, simply b/c it's shiny from the 90's I guess?

    I happen to LOVE both Star cards AND 90's inserts! I collect both hard-core. I love the Hierarchy posters as they have helped me immensely on my journey to collect as many badass MJ cards as I can!

      I love Star cards as well. I collected them for that very reason. The recent friction has been with the false narrative created not the cards themselves. No collectors should have to choose when it comes to collecting MJ. Get em all. 💪

    there are only 25 Star Co. Jordan cards in the 80s. How many 90s inserts are there? My thought exactly.
    Star Co. cards keep going up, check out PSA 9s of crunch ‘n munch and 1985 all-rookie team. Facts over feeling man. Gotta get yourself a nice Star card.

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  День тому +1

      The demand for 90s jordan insert and parallel cards are 100x the star cards unfortunately and that’s half the equation. Due to the aesthetics being DRASTICALLY superior. Also the vast majority of 90s inserts and parallels that matter have a much lower print run than any of those 25 Star cards. Which is why there are literally hundreds of Jordan’s cards from the 1990s (some even base cards) that are more desired than either of the star cards you mentioned.

    • @kypham6292
      @kypham6292 22 години тому +3

      We have seen the desirability of a particular set/card changes over time. Three main things that draw me to Star cards are 1)they were licensed pre-fleer, 2)they were made in the 80s depicting Jordan’s early playing days before he became champion, and 3)aesthetic. It does not have the shine and glitter of 90s inserts, but just something about the photo quality and realistic background. One of my fav 90’ jordan inserts is Intimidation Nation and guess where they got the inspiration from? It’s the Crunch N’ Munch.
      The one reason, at least for me and others I know, why Star cards took so long to gain traction was the fear of counterfeit. Now that PSA is grading them that fear is mitigated and collectors start chasing them. And as you know so well 😉 after you have a certain number of collector chasing a limited supply of cards, the prices grow exponentially

      @@kypham6292great points. I did not know that about the correlation between Crunch n Munch and intimidation. So much to learn and a large portion of the hobby has decided they would like a piece of history from MJ’s early days. We will continue to see Fleer heads resist.. but they are now the minority.

    Star 101 is rare compared to demand friend; I mean it's Jordan's first NBA liscened card hello...also, difference is you don't talk crap on Jordan inserts when they spike- you celebrate them, and when they fall, you don't attack the card...it's very obvious, it's easy to see your disdain, but hey you're still the best at what you do, and no one better to watch content- just see a shrink about this card, its not going anywhere friend 🙂

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  День тому +1

      Well, it certainly is going somewhere. It’s going downward just like the 1986 fleer did when the exact same thing happened three years ago. It’s not the card I have a problem with it’s this insistence by certain people that happen to own the card or 20 copies of the card that something has changed in the past 40 years other than psa deciding to grade the cards. And I’ve spent the last 2 years talking about jordan inserts during a huge market reset. Now when I see an inorganic spike I almost certainly shed light on it and urge caution. And I practice what I preach. I’m buying 8-9s bc the psa 10 premium is too extreme at the moment. Which is why we will see jordan psa 10s come back a bit over the next 3 months. You can certainly be upset over the fact that the hobby is catching on to the pump and dump, but you can’t take it out on me because nobody is more transparent than I am if I see something good I say it if I see something bad, I say it. If I buy something I tell you if I sell something I tell you. If I win I tell you if I lose I tell you. 🤷🏻‍♂️ This 101 card rose too much too fast for no reason at all, this the inevitable price drops we are seeing and will see for a few months while it finds a new floor.

      @@cajuncardboardyou make great points as usual and I respect your knowledge youre def not a hobby rc (hobby xrc 😉)..concerning the 101, wel just have to see if it holds a nice percentage increase going forward- too much too fast agreed...but the card is BA and i believe it will hold a nice increase over even just 6-7 months ago as more and more people undersstand the card and its place/history...basically that its legit... appreciate you and thankful for your effort in the hobby and your growing expertise - one blind spot isn't too bad really 😉😝

  • @80sStarBasketball
    @80sStarBasketball 43 хвилини тому +2

    Im not sure who is saying the 101 is rare... or comparing it to a 90s insert. Its compared to the 86 Fleer because they are both Base set cards (and both early MJ cards). The STAR card would not be a Rookie card if it was an insert - hence its natural for it to be compared to the 86 Fleer. Thats why the demand is extremely high for the card is most people chase rookie/first cards (or desire them at least). It also is low pop for any rookie card. But it is easily attainable if you have $.

    there's approximately 20,000 PSA 7 or better 1986-87 Fleer Jordan cards in the POP report; what's the approx. price about $5k? don't explain it in terms of price expansion - if any Star Co. card is overpriced, there's 20,000 cards that will see your so-called reckoning, and next up, the so-called numbered cards - we'll see; try not to be so myopic - it's not a big word, it's appropriate

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  День тому +1

      Jay, apparently you have not been in the hobby very long - the day of reckoning for the 1986 fleer #57 card in every single grade already occurred, on a pretty wide scale. This inevitable predictable star 101 correction is simply version 2.0. No card is immune from correction when it I organically spikes through the cunning endeavors of interested parties.

    Great video as always! The 1996 SPX Auto is the first ever pack pulled (by redemption) Jordan bulls auto. Its odds were about 1:34000!!! But it can be a confusing card because depending on the sticker on the back it’s either an original 1996 pack pulled auto or it’s likely signed in the 2000s at a Jordan basketball camp. The one here is from the basketball camp because the originals only are BAC or BAD certification sticker. There are maybe 50 or so of the actual original ones that have been graded.

    old light blue ice > current blue ice. they should have kept the same shade
    of course they had to dilute the F out of it with ice, white ice, red ice, teal ice, orange ice, green ice, pink ice, purple ice. might as well make a gold ice so people can make their rainbow slushies. probably need another 1/1 parallel too since don't have enough of those so get the black ice goin too lol

    your comments on any Star Co. Jordan only make sense if you compare against 86-87 Fleer Jordan cards and population reports; it's easy to say something is "not rare" - it's all relative; how many PSA 7 or better PSA 86-87 cards are shown? I'm not defending either card, but you're not explaining the full story - 90s Jordan inserts are rare because they are numbered; we'll see what happens to that in the long term

    • @cajuncardboard
      @cajuncardboard  День тому +1

      No they aren’t numbered. 99% of the 90s jordan inserts are not numbered. I’m not really even sure what your point is Jay. All I’m saying is star cards are not rare by most 90s card collector standards despite the protests from the star supporters.

It isn’t all of a sudden a rookie just cause a small group of guys who owned all the stock TELL You so. All of the type 2s, shop at home cards , sketchy history , these guys will sell you all of them if it makes them a buck .
