Good video! Couple of good lessons you show here. First, on a cheap abused guitar like this, look for a twisted neck first. Slight twists can still be playable but this one was rather severe. Second, if you don't see a significant improvement with a half turn of the truss rod, it's probably not a good idea to keep cranking it if it's that tight.
We've a wee Burswood half scale I bought my daughter some 15 years ago. Barely tuned in A and hard to keep that way. Suspect the neck is a bit twisty

From the video it looked like you went the wrong way on the truss rod which would push the fretboard away from the neck at the ends of the board. A dual action truss rod would have pushed the board away in the middle if you were back bending the neck.
Nah, he was going the right way with it.

Have to 100% agree.... dual action is just silly.... have never had to adjust the truss rod other than one way or loosen it off...
