  • Are you ready to revolutionize your health with a simple change in your diet? Discover the McDougall Diet, a groundbreaking approach that champions a starch-based diet, steering clear of all animal products and free oils for a life brimming with health and vitality.
    In this video, Dr McDougall dives deep into the science and success stories behind the power of starches-such as rice, corn, potatoes, and more-as the foundation of human nutrition. Learn why civilizations throughout history, from the Aztecs and Mayans, the "people of the corn," to the rice-centric diets of Asia, have thrived on these foods. Yet, the last century has seen a dramatic dietary shift towards animal-based and oil-rich foods, leading to a surge in health issues.
    The McDougall Program offers a compelling alternative, advocating a return to starch-based diets complemented by fruits and vegetables. This video reveals how such a diet can counteract the effects of food poisoning from animal products and oils, paving the way for recovery from chronic diseases and enhancing overall well-being.
    Embrace a starch-based diet today and witness its transformative impact on your health. Say goodbye to the confusion of modern dietary advice and welcome a straightforward, nutritious way of eating that redefines your approach to health and longevity.

    I am going to miss Dr. McDougall SO much! He changed my life. It all seemed so overwhelming and complicated when I first started this journey, and I would not have taken the leap unless it was for Dr. McDougall and his Starch Solution. The simplicity helped me transform my life! May he rest in peace.

    And the dry starches (rice, beans, lentils, pasta, quinoa, oats, whole grain flours) are INEXPENSIVE and store very well at room temperature! Seriously, for my family of three, I'm not exaggerating when I say we save about $8,000 per year eating a diet centered around the dry starches. What could YOUR family do with an extra eight thousand dollars a year???

      Same for me, but farm-raised organic meat, chicken , pork, fish was always the MAIN dish on the table. And thick cut bacon with eggs was always on the breakfast table. Perogies was only for special holidays like Christmas...Then we all felt like crap for a few days after eating them... All that starch in the diet developed long ago, for when our ancestors were too poor to have farm animals to eat our" Proper Human diet" which is mostly carnivore, and all that cheap, easily grown starch was absolutely NEEDED for the heavy labour working the land. We dont need all this starch anymore more sitting in front of the computer. It's just nonsense... and, when I look at how poorly McDougall has aged , he looks 20 years older than my 85 year old father!! Btw, the only person to get cancer in my HUGE Ukrainian family on BOTH sides was the long-time vegetarian. And one relative developed diabetes because she ate the starchy , sugary foods. There was NO heart disease at all...Now, many of us are mostly carnivore, and I am 62 , have not seen a doctor in over 30 years, my parents in their mid-eighties, eat mostly carnivore and are on ZERO medications, renovating their new home, and enjoying life!! McDougall seems like a nice guy, but he is WAY off the mark, and likely causing great harm in the long run...He himself, has not aged well.... That is a BIG red flag for me...

      @JohnDoe-xk1dv 7 місяців тому +3

      You do sound possibly very likely diabetic/pre-diabetic. If you have pre-existing neuropathy, you already have at least one significant existing medical condition. Kindly, this will always require medical supervision in diet change for anybody in that position, whatever type of diet. Especially if you're taking certain meds as well, as they'll need adjusting - if not, that might result in the symptoms you describe. As richoka has also helpfully hinted, you may have had high fat levels in cells?
      I can't speak for your individual health profile, but please consider this alongside appropriate medical supervision (which is necessary for some), and for medication adjustments. I'd contact the McD Program directly in your case. They take care of many people with always excellent published results, but some people need specialised approach to it.

      The Kempner diet was extreme and Dr Kempner recommended that his patients be supervised. I don't think it would be safe to do it alone. I'd suggest checking out Dr Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes book and Dr McDougall's book, The Starch Solution. The Physicians' Committee (PCRM) - Dr Barnard's organisation - offers online medical appointments and Dr McDougall's organisation offers a course to help people change their diet and lifestyle. Both offer medical support. Dr McDougall's programme is expensive but you are considered a patient of theirs for life once you have done it and can consult with them anytime, as far as I understand. I don''t know how much PCRM charges for appointments. If feasible, it might be worth contacting them to find out more.

      Yes, fruit can cause blood sugar levels to go up, unfortunately. I use a home monitor although I do not have diabetes. Any kind of fruit makes it go up temporarily. Use lowest glycemic ones like an apple, berries and stay away from bananas, tropical fruit. I eat plant-based and my blood sugar is ok on these meals - just make sure there is plenty of fibre in the meal - wholegrain everything, skin on potato, lots of cooked and some raw veg with each meal. If you can tolerate it, a tsp of cider vinegar in water before each starch meal helps lower the sugar. Keep meals small - we don't actually need heaped platefuls!

    I was on the Pritikin diet in the early 80’s. 80% carbs, 10% proteins, 10% Fats. Got scared because I lost so much weight. I was also a jogger back then and I wound up jogging 17 miles one day and realized my initial goal was 2 miles when I first started jogging! I decided to cut back on jogging and add some fat and protein back in the diet. Got back to normal weight, but I don’t feel like I have found my best diet and fitness routine yet. Hard to believe we should not have any meat or fish, even Jesus ate fish!

      Fat is addictive. Same with sugar and salt. Fat, even healthy fat, will give me another stroke as even vegetable fat thickens my blood. McDougall makes sense. I'm 80 and glad for each day I'm alive. Five days a week I swam 20 pool lengths until the vegetable fat I ate gave me angina. Fitness is not health it is just a part of health.

      Meat was different back then. Much less fat and no environmental toxins. Also unless you were rich you only had meat maybe once a week to once a month way back then. No one except "kings and queens" was eating meat all day everyday. It was way too expensive. Most hurts failed. Well documented

    What are free oils?

    • @Equinox1.5
      @Equinox1.5 3 місяці тому

      Oil in a bottle, as opposed to the oil contained in an avocado, olive, nut, seed, or whatever. Once the oil has been separated from its plant of origin, it becomes a 'free' oil, no longer accompanied by the fibre and nutrients in the plant. Dr McDougall was not keen on higher fat whole foods either (e.g. avocado, nuts, seeds, soya) but he said they were OK now and then. In his Food Poisoning Color Picture Book (free to read on his website), foods containing substantial natural fats are in the amber (caution) category but free oils are in the red (no) category.

I'm 80 and will not take ANY doc meds. All oils are bad for me. The best oils for me are those oils in green vegetables. Docs make money only from SICK people. There are no long lived healthy populations or cultures that ever consumed a starch based diet. The ones that did was because that is all they could get and their immune system was never strong enough to fix minor problems that arrived so their life expectancy was low. The cultures that had more consistent access to animal protein and fat had better health and were able to create the USA, build cars, airplanes and develop the zoom which the man in the video admires. The people who were able to create zoom, cars, airplanes, rollercoasters, Pertussis vaccine, cure for Pellagra, rocket ships, FM radio, microscopes, the discovery of Vitamin B5 (Roger J. Williams), zero of them ever consumed a starch based diet, Zero means none.

      Politely and kindly Stan, you are so far behind a robust science based approach here (the science which produced the wonders you also list here, btw) it's saddening to see.
      You (and Jenny here, as her comment falls into the same realm) may want to read the Starch Solution text by Dr M, or at least look through his long length presentations on YT on this (that reference the scientific literature extensively), and you may well be very surprised by what you find. I can promise you it's worth the time invested, many times over.
      By the way you write, you appear to be a newbie here and this is typical of many - that's not a crime of course, but you're (a) confusing correlation with causation, as well as (b) "good enough, for a time" type diets with the "optimum" for human populations.
      Good luck.
