Saluti carissimi! Maurizio.
My dad had a 78RPM record of this song on one side and the song 'ANNA' on the other side. It was one of my favorite record and I would have listened to many times when I was growing up, now as an old man I have tears in my eyes when I hear this song. I don't understand a word of the song, but I feel the song talking directly to my heart.
@Disney Fernando: How coincidental...my family and I had the 78 as well. I loved the song before I knew others would perform it. I found the MGM 45RPM later in my life in good condition, and it's been a prize possession. I also have several versions of Anna, all instrumental. Now I want to see the movie, but haven't found it yet 😁. But I will. I was one year old when it was made.
@@gravityrules, Nice to know somewhere in the world, there is another person who has a similar experience growing up. I want to see the movie too. The smile on my dad's face when I showed him this song was priceless.🙂👍
@@gravityrules ua-cam.com/video/w_OdmateqyU/v-deo.html If you understand Italian, the full movie is here. I have go home and watch it today. Even though I don't understand Italian.
@@DisneyJF I always wondered what the instrumental "weird introduction" was all about. This leads me to wonder if she is a nun, and the song may be a memory of her past. I guess the intent won't be known until the movie can be seen. I haven't yet seen a synopsis of the plot...I'm still looking. Thank you for the stroll down memory lane 👍🌹.
Congratulation..Tres bonne initiative.. La belle et grande actrice Silvana Mangano et la belle chanson italienne: N´oublier pas...... Merci beaucoup...Je traiterai d´ubiquer le film.
Non Domenticar, Don't Forget, by Galdieri & Redi: For fear of oblivion, you can erase from your heart. All the love I had for you.... But don't forget that I loved you so much I have known how to love you, do not forget And of this love a special memory belongs to you Don't push it away out of your heart If they separated us, the wings of fate I'm not to blame and I will always feel close to you Don't forget that I loved you so much Maybe in this heart of mine you could still find so much love!
This is actually the voice of Flo Sandon's (plural!). Sandon's dubbed both of the Mangano vocals in the movie, ....and what an amazing voice to perfect the visuals. These music interludes are the height of postwar Continental glamour. Hypnotic footage !!
correct - a misprint on Flo's album was continued by her - she would have known - while born in Italy - her family was originally from America - and she seemed to speak english serving as an interpreter with the US Army Corp stationed in Rome
Thanks very much for posting this. I'm a fan of this song - request it every chance I get from live jazz bands :) Although I'm not familiar with the movie, it's b/w has a magical quality no longer found today. Thanks again!
It was fantastic to see this after all these many years. If you look closely,at the very last shot in the clip, the very pretty waitress in The Blue Grotto Cafe, is a very young SOFIA LOREN! She is on the very far right side of the screen. Her beauty is unmistakable even at that early age! She's only about 17 years old in this film, she appeared in it right after she finished shooting Quo Vadis for MGM.
Thanks for posting this clip. I'm a great fan of Italian movies, old and new, but the 40's and 50's were no doubt Golden Years for the Italian movie industry. Both the less known "Anna" and the famous "Bitter Rice" should count among the Top 10 Italian movies of all times - if you ask me :-)
By the way Flo Sandon did very well out of that movie, everybody knew she did the dubbing (almost all Italian movies including Fellini's were/are dubbed) tho Silvana Mangano also sang fine. Flo's LP record with Domenticar was the first Italian LP ever to sell 1m in Europe and 10m worldwide.
Don't forget that I loved you so much, I heard about you on Tuesday, don't forget. Now only one memory of this love belongs to you; Don't throw it out of your heart yet. If I separate us, if I take away the wing of destiny, It's not my fault, no, and I will always feel close to you. Don't forget that I loved you so much, Maybe in my heart you can still find lots and lots of love
@koolinthefann I bought the Original MGM Record in Berlin. It's a Record rom 1955 and only two tracks have been released. A Side: Rhumba Anna, B Side: I loved you (non dimenticar).
wha??!? I've seen this movie a thousand times I love it but nowhere in any version I saw was this song included!! wonder why it was cut? for release in the US?? very strange but very interesting I am dumbfounded to see that this was in the movie what a great and exciting discovery but still wondering why it was cut; length? or some other reason? does anyone know please tell me dying to find out! and of course we know it was dubbed but so great to see it after all these years
Concordo.
Absolutely mesmerizing. I loved Natalie Coles’ version but this one is very incredible with FANTASTIC cinematography ‼️🐈⬛🏴☠️
Una delle più belle canzoni italiane che racconta la storia di un cuore lacerato da un amore scomparso.
Concordo.
Fantastic Silvana, bellissima e bravissima, Sivana.

El eterno Vittorio.....
The Brazilian rhythm begins to be born in Europe with Bayon(Baião) de Anna(El Negro Zumbon)...
This song was popular, in English, in the USA as well.
This nightclub looks like the most elegant joint on earth in this clips, doesn't it?

The voice is more beautiful than Sylvana's looks. And here she is again with Vittorio Gassman, like in the Bitter Rice (where they dance too).
