- Ok, this redone version of the song "Prince Igor" contains only the Russian chorus with Sissel, apart from the end when Warren G raps a bit...
And again I've added English subtitles with the song for those of you who want to know what she's really singing about...
I don't understand Russian either (even though I'd love to learn it, it's such a beautiful language), so I got the translation from this website: lyricstrue.net/...

Interesting analogy BTW: Tarja Turunen from Nightwish was also being made fun of because of her heavy Finnish accent. Like, how can you forget her outstanding lyrical soprano and delivery, and just focus on some minor mispronunciation? WTF is wrong with people.

I don't know where I'd heard this tune somewhere but it had been stuck in my mind for nearly 7-8 years. I tried asking so many of my friends about it but nobody knew. Then suddenly one day after just waking up I turn the tv on and there it was playing.
It was Michael Palin's 'around the world in 80days' or 'North to South' documentary on UK History tv. Michael was talking to a Russian historian who was talking about some great composer called Alexander Borodin. :) :) 8 YEARS!!!!

Some years ago, I heard a radio broadcast where the background for this tune was told: Sissel was on her way home from a US-trip when Warren G heard the rumour that she was in NY.
He called her manager who asked her to take a taxi to the studio. On the way she asked the taxi driver if he had any Russian colleagues - and of course he had. She then asked a Russian taxi driver to spend the day with her - learning her to pronounce the Russian lyrics correctly.

This song was originally a classical piece by a Russian named Borodin. Prince Igor was a historical/mythological figure, there were several of these songs called the Polovetsian Dances from the Prince Igor symphony. This was #2, IIRC
