i recently bought this laptop and i have to say, it rarely heats up or has any noticeable fan noise. only when im gaming or doing something thats a little performance heavy do i start to hear some fan noise, other wise its been a pretty satisfying purchase so far
I don't get why they don't put these displays on gaming laptops? Its perfect. Gaming laptops can easily drive a 120hz panel and have the cooling to back it up
I bought mine to edit photos in lightroom and photoshop and I always use standard mode and there is no fan noise whatsoever. Obviously if I change to high-performance the noise is very noticeable. I'm very happy because in lightroom, the denoise functionality would take me 20-30 minutes on my older PC and now it's just 5 seconds on a 62mpixel image with 120mb. The image quality in unmatchable but the screen is reflective but not a deal breaker. The keyboard, I would have preferred they didn't had the num pad because it would make the keyboard bigger and anyway, who uses the num pad? Overal, im satisfied with the laptop.
You shouldn't be editing any visuals on a lit room, flat or gloss. Ideally you turn off everything and start editing at a comfortable screen brightness.
Asus has OLED which is awesome. I've used Both of them, But I would buy ASUS for the OLED. Why? Because, the picture is very clear and you don't get tired, I mean your eyes

Hi, I have a samsung galaxy note 10 lite phone for about three years and it has burn in problem in screen so I can see ghosted icons. is this problem also happen with oled screens on laptops or it has been fixed. thank you for your videos
so my 2024 g14 with 4060 is getting 10025 in timespy. When you ran Timespy on this, was it at "turbo" with everything routed to the dedicated GPU? is that even possible to set? this is on sale for $1200 right now so it's tempting. Also microcenter has the 4070 variant but with IPS 240hz screen for $1250. I'm going back and forth on the new G16 vs giving this a chance because I'm ready to move on from 14". edit - notebookcheck got over 10k on their 4060. Maybe they spec it different in Europe though
Just bought a Vivobook, that has RTX 4060 + i5-12450H, and 16" IPS display, not OLED, but it was on sale for 999€. Great review, and hopefully that i5 runs a bit cooler, if it has the same cooling mechanism as yours. Just waiting my better half to steal that thing from me. 😂

For example 13100 i3 13400 i5 13700 i7 13900 i9 But that’s just 13th Gen. what about a 10th generation i9 versus a brand new 13th gen i5? Well. The new i5 OBLITERATES the 10th gen i9. 13600 is a much superior cpu to a 10900. So generations matter much much much more than the “i” in front of the CPU. - Now… what about inside one single generation? i5 13500h vs i9 13900h? Well the 13900h has more raw power sure, but it also runs much much hotter, and consumes more battery. So a thin laptop with a 13900h (vivobook) will not be able too cool a 13900h. Whereas the 13500h will cool properly. As a result they may actually perform almost the same. When I CPU gets hot its performance goes down dramatically. Just putting the “biggest” CPU in to a laptop is actually often a really bad idea. This is why AMD laptops are preferred by me over Intel: they run cooler (aka better) and have superior battery life.

(And a full size SD slot would be a cherry on top). I was considering the Asus Zenbook and Dell XPS 15 but not in love with them. So many people are praising Mac, that I'm now looking into a refurbished 15 inch MacBook Air, 16gb RAM, 1tb SSD, M2 of 2023 which costs around 1500. My 4060 is only 75W. To be honest, the performance is still not enough. But if this GPU exceeds 100W, the current heat dissipation is definitely not enough, but if the heat dissipation is increased, the volume should exceed 2KG.

DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE! ASUS knowingly had manufactured a defective design After only 4 months,the computer's hinge has broken. They will repair under warranty, but it must be sent in. If you can afford to be without the computer for a month, go for it! But know that you will have to get it repaired within the year.
I own this laptop and I have to be honest, that level of fan noise can only be expected when running in performance or unlimited mode. From my experience, you rarely even have to turn that on and can have a still relatively cool experience playing games at about 60-70 degrees on the CPU and 80 degrees on the laptop with only a couple of FPS difference between the modes. Perfectely acceptable imo. If you can, maybe try it again but switch it to normal standard mode.
Did he turn on the Mux switch? I have the same laptop but I have a lot more fps than he does at for instance re4 remake with the same settings. Hell, I even have more fps in Alan Wake 2 than what he had in RE4 remake. With high settings, that is why I'm asking.
In case you were still wondering, I go into Task Manager any time the laptop boots up, and end "Asus Optimization". You can set Asus Optimization to not boot up on start, but it resets anytime you update drivers or anything, so I just go to Task Manager.
7:33 - the reason why Vivobook has less heat pipes is TDP of GPU. In Asus it's 60W rtx4060. And in ThinkBook it's 130W rtx4060. That's why the difference is so dramatic - Thinkbook has much more temperature to disperse

As per multiple current search unless you're wanting to spend on the Ssus Pro studioart, even the Lenovo Legion Slim is heavier. Ther rise a version of the Yoga Pro that does had DGPU though. It's been driving me absolutely bonkers trying to decide.
(0:40) The K6604 has a much better cooling system than the K6602. Actually, these are two different notebooks with different chassis. The K6602 cooling system is a joke for such powerful hardware. I have an older model with the same chassis - ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED, 5800H, and no discrete GPU and I love it. I think this chassis is not suitable for discrete GPUs. I'm considering getting K6604 or ThinkBook 16p G4. The K6604 has an incredible OLED screen and better better-looking keyboard (as for me), but the ThinkBook has better overall quality and two m.2 slots.
The problem with noise, you can buy a headset from 2e to cover your back. And try 2560×1600 in your game, by quality you won't notice much, but it'll definitely boost your FPS. The screen is the sell here!

Yes it’s noisier than the legion and the zenbook. The cooling isn’t that beefy so the fans need to go to keep it cool under load. The fans aren’t an annoying sound but they are active
I have my eye on this laptop for that mouth watering display, but disappointed about the cooling. The 13500H + RTX4050 is available for about 1250$ in my country, perhaps the cooling would suit the reduced performance? By the way, Asus doesn't make the oled displays, these are manufactured by Samsung.

Does this had black crush at 120hz and also in discrete GPU mode compated to hybrid mode . Does this auto hybernate while gaming. These issues are reported by many.
I'm new to PC gaming so I don't know the ins and outs of what I'm talking about... But this has been my experience with the laptop: I haven't noticed anything funky with the blacks at 120hz personally.. I've definitely never experienced the MUX Switch screwing up and going from Discrete to Hybrid, however the battery will give you less overall power supply than having it plugged in so there is a performance dip on battery I've noticed; and the laptop is already underclocked/low power supply so it's noticeable especially if you're pushing the system with the graphics you're outputting. There might be a separate setting somewhere that switches to the Intel Iris Xe GPU when on battery, but I can't remember for sure. The auto hibernate is very real, I panicked when I realized it did that Lol But it's easily fixed by opening Task Manager and ending "Asus Optimization". You can set Asus Optimization to not boot up on start, but it resets anytime you update drivers or anything, so I just go to Task Manager. I also keep it on a fan pad because it does run hot, and the extra bit of constant airflow does seem to help, at least a bit.
I am hesitating between 15 version of this, 15 is 15'6 inch 16:9 display, and this 16 inch 16:10 display, which one I would go for I'm not sure still, what do you suggest?
So many complaining that this laptop display had crushed blacks in Discrete GPU mode and even in hybrid mode at 120hz its showing weird black crush. I had this model and it too had. I gave it for service but it didn't resolve. Did Asus rectified it? Does the model you reviewd had this issue?

How does it compared to Lenovo Thinkbook 16P Gen 4? They have the similar specs, except for the OLED panel. You praised the keyboard, speakers on both laptop. Some comparison would be nice.
the thinkbook has a really nice IPS panel, but its an ips panel. so for those who prefer oled the ASUS is better, for those who want a IPS the thinkbook is better. that is preference. id say the asus is better. in all ways, the thinkbook performs much better, and runs significantly cooler. you can check out my review of the specific model and check benchmarks including gaming. the thinkbook has a better keyboard (although both are quite nice) a better glass trackpad, all metal chasis, really the thinkbook is a significantly better laptop, what the ASUS has is the advantages of a truly superb screen. otherwise its not able to compete. in the end it depends what you are looking for.

This won't work on Linux, it's an important caveat, i had a LOT of problems, from the thermal sensors not working, to the Wifi not working, a lot of things don't work on Linux. With this machine you're chained to Windows. If you're a programmer this isn't for you, this is meant for modellers and designers, for programmers the best laptop is a Thinkpad. The OLED display looks really nice but i've heard a lot of points against them from other programmers who prefer IPS. The points are that OLED drains battery life a lot more than IPS and there's a risk of burn-in which requires special software to mitigate which might not be available on Linux. The i9 is incredibly fast and i do get desktop-class performance, but it drains the battery incredibly quickly and heats like a vulcano lol and so it's not a worthwhile tradeoff for me and the i7 is still the laptop CPU i'd prefer. So if i were you and were doing it over again, i'd get an i7 Thinkpad with a nice IPS display and 16-32 gigs of RAM

Hi everyone. I have the exact same laptop and the keyboard is always a bit hot in the area of the Enter key no matter what I do. The processor may be at 1% and the GPU at 10% and it still gets pretty hot. Anyone else has this problem or is it just me? This is just to add to the conclusion of this video, that this laptop runs very hot.
This thing looks absolutely amazing for its current price point for an oled with a 4060, right now nothing out there comapares if you can get it for 1300 usd. If you dont want oled you can do muchhh better. But expect to be paying this premium for this screen. Cooling issues, youll need a cooling pad for gaming then your set.

Which model did you review, I was looking at the ASUS K3605VV-ES96 if it ran hot as well while not achieving full performance.
If it has a 13 900 H, you’re gonna have some issues with temperatures. Ideally you would shoot for 13 500 on this chassis
such reflectivity makes it only useful with the lights off during night time, forget about editing stuff with all reflections on screen

You can’t really undervolt the h chips. That’s more of a hx feature

The K6604 has an incredible OLED screen and better better-looking keyboard (as for me), but the ThinkBook has better overall quality and two m.2 slots.

The problem with noise, you can buy a headset from 2e to cover your back. And try 2560×1600 in your game, by quality you won't notice much, but it'll definitely boost your FPS. The screen is the sell here!

Yes it’s noisier than the legion and the zenbook. The cooling isn’t that beefy so the fans need to go to keep it cool under load. The fans aren’t an annoying sound but they are active

I have my eye on this laptop for that mouth watering display, but disappointed about the cooling. The 13500H + RTX4050 is available for about 1250$ in my country, perhaps the cooling would suit the reduced performance? By the way, Asus doesn't make the oled displays, these are manufactured by Samsung.

Could the S15 OLED with the same CPU but no GPU yield better results in thermals and fan noise ? It's at 959€ right now (~1040 USD) (i9 13900H / 16GB DDR4 / 1TB NVMe / Intel Iris Xe iGPU).
i dont have it, but i think if the same cooling system is used it will be still pretty noisy.

Should have tested the games in other resolutions than what the display comes with. 4060 isnt made to play games at high resolutions.
Yeah use the native higher resorption and then use DLSS when needed. Don’t change panel resolutions, it will look like crap

I'm new to PC gaming so I don't know the ins and outs of what I'm talking about... But this has been my experience with the laptop:
I haven't noticed anything funky with the blacks at 120hz personally.. I've definitely never experienced the MUX Switch screwing up and going from Discrete to Hybrid, however the battery will give you less overall power supply than having it plugged in so there is a performance dip on battery I've noticed; and the laptop is already underclocked/low power supply so it's noticeable especially if you're pushing the system with the graphics you're outputting. There might be a separate setting somewhere that switches to the Intel Iris Xe GPU when on battery, but I can't remember for sure.
The auto hibernate is very real, I panicked when I realized it did that Lol But it's easily fixed by opening Task Manager and ending "Asus Optimization". You can set Asus Optimization to not boot up on start, but it resets anytime you update drivers or anything, so I just go to Task Manager. I also keep it on a fan pad because it does run hot, and the extra bit of constant airflow does seem to help, at least a bit.
I am hesitating between 15 version of this, 15 is 15'6 inch 16:9 display, and this 16 inch 16:10 display, which one I would go for I'm not sure still, what do you suggest?
For productivity and just general use, the extra height can be very nice.😊
So many complaining that this laptop display had crushed blacks in Discrete GPU mode and even in hybrid mode at 120hz its showing weird black crush.

The fans are noisy when doing heavy workloads. They aren’t an issue otherwise

How does it compared to Lenovo Thinkbook 16P Gen 4? They have the similar specs, except for the OLED panel. You praised the keyboard, speakers on both laptop. Some comparison would be nice.
the thinkbook has a really nice IPS panel, but its an ips panel. so for those who prefer oled the ASUS is better, for those who want a IPS the thinkbook is better. that is preference. id say the asus is better.
in all ways, the thinkbook performs much better, and runs significantly cooler. you can check out my review of the specific model and check benchmarks including gaming.
the thinkbook has a better keyboard (although both are quite nice) a better glass trackpad, all metal chasis,
really the thinkbook is a significantly better laptop, what the ASUS has is the advantages of a truly superb screen. otherwise its not able to compete.
in the end it depends what you are looking for.

This won't work on Linux, it's an important caveat, i had a LOT of problems, from the thermal sensors not working, to the Wifi not working, a lot of things don't work on Linux. With this machine you're chained to Windows.
If you're a programmer this isn't for you, this is meant for modellers and designers, for programmers the best laptop is a Thinkpad.
The OLED display looks really nice but i've heard a lot of points against them from other programmers who prefer IPS. The points are that OLED drains battery life a lot more than IPS and there's a risk of burn-in which requires special software to mitigate which might not be available on Linux.
The i9 is incredibly fast and i do get desktop-class performance, but it drains the battery incredibly quickly and heats like a vulcano lol and so it's not a worthwhile tradeoff for me and the i7 is still the laptop CPU i'd prefer.
So if i were you and were doing it over again, i'd get an i7 Thinkpad with a nice IPS display and 16-32 gigs of RAM

Hi everyone. I have the exact same laptop and the keyboard is always a bit hot in the area of the Enter key no matter what I do. The processor may be at 1% and the GPU at 10% and it still gets pretty hot. Anyone else has this problem or is it just me? This is just to add to the conclusion of this video, that this laptop runs very hot.

This thing looks absolutely amazing for its current price point for an oled with a 4060, right now nothing out there comapares if you can get it for 1300 usd. If you dont want oled you can do muchhh better. But expect to be paying this premium for this screen. Cooling issues, youll need a cooling pad for gaming then your set.
