The highly anticipated sequel, "Akhanda 2: Thaandavam," starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Boyapati Srinu, has commenced filming at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. This marks the first Telugu film to shoot at this significant Hindu religious event, capturing authentic visuals of devotion, including Aghoras, Naga Sadhus, and the massive gathering of devotees.

Producer Ram Achanta expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, "We are blessed to shoot at such a revered sangamam of three rivers." The production team, comprising a 20-member unit, is utilizing this unique setting to enhance the film's spiritual and cultural significance. The Uttar Pradesh state and Central governments granted the necessary permissions, acknowledging the film's thematic alignment with Hindu religious practices.

While lead actor Balakrishna is not currently participating in the shoot, the team has permission to film until February 26 and may include him in later schedules, depending on logistical considerations. The film is slated for release on September 25, 2025, coinciding with the Dussehra festival.
