great video. Just a quick tip. When editing start or end points you can hold down the SOURCE pad to make the EDIT 1 dial move in increments of 100. That'll save you a lot of headaches for when you want to make finer edits. Also when pressing the SPECIAL button you can make bigger incremental jumps (theres also the - and + buttons to move in single increments in both modes)
Hey Kevin, I made a review and tutorial of the Sampletrak on my channel and instead of trying to describe how the memory card works, I shouted you out and linked people to this video since you since have already nailed it. I used this video myself when I was learning how to do it, thanks dude✌
Thanks for the tutorial. I recently got a SampleTrak ST-224 in very good condition. The only problem I'm having is importing the samples. I thought that I may have received a defective SmartMedia card, but after purchasing a second one and testing it out, it seems like my sampler is the issue. Whenever I try to import a sample, it takes a very long time and I either get a 'SMPLFL' message or 'Cd Err' message. I have reformatted my cards several times and and using the proper naming conventions for the files as well.
One thing I noticed is when I tried to import newer samples I would have that problem. That is because the samples were a higher bit rate than the sampler can take. They were Probably 24 bit. Although It would load up the sample as static. I got around that by converting them in Adobe audacity to 16 bit 44.1 kHz.
@@interrorgationstudios Thanks for your reply. I made sure to get the 3.3V version before purchasing. I believe the issue is what @Kevin Flowers stated. The bit rate of the samples I was attempting to import was likely too high.
I just got my zoom Sampletrak and the pad assign seems to not work. I followed all the steps from the manual but still won’t assign. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hey. I bought an ST-224 recently. The 4mb smartmedia card that came with it works fine, and is read as 'card 2' on my sampler. However I bought two more smartmedia cards, both 3.3v, one 8mb and one 16mb and neither will work on my sampletrak. The sampler recognises them just as 'Card--' but I cant record any samples onto them etc. Is this because I need to get a card reader and name the cards as per the naming conventions you mention in your vid, so the sampletrak recognises it? Or is there a way for me to do this without a card reader? Thanks
Do you know if those other cards have been formatted? Perhaps that would clear things up so the sampler could read them. You may have to use a card reader with a computer to accomplish that.
Once you have resampled and put FX on etc etc in the ST-224 ...Can you export them back to the laptop in WAV format so you can edit them in the laptop ? BTW Great video
Thanks for this. Just got a sampletrak the other day and after reading the manual I was looking for confirmation that this still works since I read on some older forums that it didn’t. Do you happen to know the max size smart media card the sampletrak will take? The manual says it can hold up to 99 samples using this method, but I’ve read elsewhere have read that the max size is 16mb cards. Unless I did my math wrong I don’t think there is anyway you could fit 99 samples on a 16mb card even if they were all drum one shots. Thanks again.

@Michael Heath are you using smart media card 3.3V or 5V ?
The correct smart media card is 3.3V the 5V will NOT work.

@@michaelheath1194 ok , yeah unfortunately these old samplers are great , but lots of issues. I hope you can get it to work good luck!

When you hit the button is the display at least showing the pad banks to assign a sample to?
I can't get my samples to load.
IS IT BECAUSE I HAVE TO SAVE THEM AS 01, 02, 10, 13, ETC
@SaintThomas13 yes I believe so

I'm not sure if you can save files on the card as a .wav. when I've saved files, they have a different format.
Hello. Do you know if Zoom ST224 recognizes 32, 64 and 128 cards? Thank you.
I'm not sure. I tried looking it up in the manual and couldn't find anything. perhaps you can find it. zoomcorp.com/media/documents/E_ST224.pdf

Not sure of the max size card, but I've been able to use 16 mb cards no problem.
