Faszinierend, das für Uher Report Monitor Geräte, die mittlerweile über 40 Jahre alt sind, noch solche Upgrades gibt.

Many thanks for this review of a device many people have waited for. Especially smart is that all of the recorders functions can be used without limitations after installation which also doesn´t leave traces on the REPORTs exterior. Great Swiss engineering!

Thanks! I was really sceptic at first, really! it's something so useful i Just can't understand why It wasn't reviewed by anyone before. Btw i think that now an SOS(sound on sound) mod feature it's the only thing that the uher 4000 lacks to be Just perfect!

@@tedmazzone what do you mean by that? With a mixer and some routing sos is possible, no?

@@johannes7421 I mean “sound on sound” recording technique directly on tape. Basically, with this kind of machines, to record means to erase the previous recording. The erase head is indeed placed just before the other two heads. So when I talk about “sound on sound”, I mean to record a melody on tape in the first place, then record a second one on top of that without erasing the first recording. That is possible only bypassing the erase head. Btw, out of curiosity I talked about it with SDS, seems that placing a bypass switch is not an easy task, so they suggest to place a small sheet made of plastic(to use like a shield) near the erase head to avoid contact with tape. The space between the head and the metal frame is very small, so I’m still guessing what kind of thing I could make use for. Any kind of suggestions are welcome.🤗

@@tedmazzone haha, great! I was about to mention the same thing. I contacted sds and asked for a way to bypass the erase head and received the same answer. 🙂
I don't have. a uher yet but I think about it. with a mono machine like the Uher 4000 RM sos would open a door to layering sounds ITB. have you tried it yet? does the bypassing/blocking of the erasehead work for you? no slightly erasing? Ulrich mentioned that I have to replace the. heads housing to get shield where it best suits its purpose… guess you already done it. a small piece of plastic card should work, he also mentioned.

@@johannes7421 it generally works, but i'm trying with different kind of plastic to get the job done the best way..... As long as i find something efficient and easily to find, i will share my experience with you
