Hello Todd, I'm a locksmith. What you did, is exactly how you fix this problem with Schlage keyless entry locks. It's not a super common problem, but it does happen with these locks. There is a small tab on the back of that plastic part that sits in the spring coil. It can slip to the wrong part of the spring, causing the lock to malfunction. I generally take the plastic part out and inspect it for damage, and reinstall it if there is no damage, and the lock is fine.
This seems to be an issue with these types of Schlage locks. I just replaced my BE365 after 6 years of use because it was doing the same thing. Would not lock when you enter code. I wish Schlage would address this issue!
I did go with the BE365 again. I mean it worked flawless for 6 years with heavy use daily. My door isn't aligned so great so I needed a dead bolt that I could turn manually rather than those auto locking deadbolts. The BE365 was the only option unfortunately. I'm hoping I can get another 6 years or more out of this one 🤞
Any updates on this lock please? I already bought and my return window from amazon gone. Schlage is very good brand but worried after watching your video, much appreciated If you could update the status of this lock please?

My door took us 5 min to open each time we came home and this worked!! Thank you
That might be a little frustrating! Good luck getting it fixed!
This just happened to me after my walk and I'm locked out of my house. It rained today and I didn't know this was an issue. This is some bs
Why are you pushing the Schlage button first? I just enter code coming and going and turn thumb turn. Works fine.
Is there a part II?

Yeah, I'm ready to replace it with a different brand and model. Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Try the one without the turn deadbolt on the outside
Usually due to low battery
what was the outcome with Schlage was there a fix?
Thanks. Mine is currently doing thus now
I'm impressed.
PEBCAK?
Tons 'a fun spending time fixing crappy products.
Thank you!! This worked 😅
Agree, both impressive and disappointing. Good effort!
I commented too soon. Good luck Tuesday.
