My friend repeatedly told me he didnt care to listen to Kaleo. I refuted - they're so talented. Time passed, he talked shit about my love for them. He went to a music festival with his girlfriend (now wife) - said their favorite show from the whole festival was these guys..and specifically mentioned the cover of this song. This band is special.

This morning, my daughter introduced me to KALEO. Holy b'jeebus, holy dear mother of gods beejeebus. Their cover of Cher's "Bang Bang" just topped my love of Nancy Sinatra's cover, and I have immense levels of adoration for her cover of the song.
If I had to describe the mood of this cover for pairing with a screen scene:
It hits that sweet spot when all my precious '70s rock gods and '80s glam hair bands went early-'90s gritty - the sort of song backing a drunk-n-dirty revenge f_ck up against the back wall of a side road dive bar, under the cover of thunder and sheeted with driving rain, then walking away demolished though resolute in the knowledge that you've leveled several lives to utter ruin.
I never had that one; I came really close to it once, but I walked away. This cover lets me feel as if I'd stayed.
I always thought the original was Nancy's!
For me, this is the best version of this beautiful song. And what I love the best is the drama he does almost at the end of the song, screaming due to the pain he feels to have been abandoned
