Fire is so unpredictable, it’s amazing how under extreme duress these men perform their jobs and come out alive. God bless our FDNY and all firefighters.

To me it's sad and so scary seeing an obviously well kept home, then at the stairs and on up...nothing but flames! I shudder to think had there been someone trapped up there! Thanks to those great First Responders for giving us a glimpse into their world!

GUYS, PLEASE STOP GOING INTO THE FIRES WITHOUT A CHARGED LINE!!!! THERE IS NO NEED!! Why go to the gym and work out so much if you can't drag a charged line that can save your life. Great job fighting the fire, I don't mean any disrespect, but please start being more safe with your interior attacks. AND PUT YOUR AIRPACK ON, THATS JUST DUMB, GOING IN WITHOUT IT

I've been doing this 44 years, and I can honestly tell you I can count on ONE hand how many times I did an initial fire attack with a charged hose line from the street to the seat of the fire. I don't care how well you physically train or how pumped you are it just makes sense to get the hose to the fire, charge the line, and advance on the fire. Take say a 2 1/2" line empty it may weigh about 10 pounds give or take, but when charged it can weigh TEN times as much. At that point it is VERY difficult to move without enough manpower. Unless you are softening the target prior to entry to cool gases then an uncharged line is easier to work and get the job done, and save lives. As for the air packs yes put them on EVERY time.
