YES! My husband and I are gamers and love playing stuff like Minecraft with our 3 kids. Sure, we don't play games anywhere near as much as we did when we were younger. But we still love it when we get a chance. My parents were into games too (back when you had to go to actual ARCADES to play games 🤣), and when I was about 6, they bought me an NES. One of my earliest, happy memories is playing Duck Hunt with them. Games aren't for everyone and it's ok if Ben's not into them, but for some of us it's definitely great family bonding time. For me, it's even really like a tradition.

You can enslave villagers like the sub-intelligent digital life-forms they are and force them to breed in a dungeon to make more slaves so that you can force them to work on your farms for efficient production and cheap slave labor. More slaves will produce more deals to sell you magic books that can enhance your weapons to be more powerful in combat. You can also burn down forests to get rid of shade for demon filth and listen to environmentalist furries cry salty tears at your based crusader gameplay. However, this is still a videogame and you are probably better off cleaning your room and/or meditating or doing something else productive.

My kids dragged me into minecraft so I could play with them, I love crafting games. I spent 3 or 4 days learning how to play and ended up teaching them how to farm and built a castle.
Exactly what happened to me: my kids begged me to buy it for the Xbox 360, and then I started playing it with them, and then when they went back to their mom's....yeah, I ended up building a castle, making a portal, and fighting zombie pigmen for days on end.😓

Ben, as a person who grew up with this game, I can confidently say this game was one of the greatest forces in developing my creativity as a child. This game is incredibly deep, and there are a million different ways to play. I would strongly urge you to really learn this game and introduce it to your children; make a world where you guys can work together to build something beautiful. Build a big castle or city, whatever you want, but think of a project that will take months. As a kid, to be able to do this with my dad would have meant the world for me. I cannot emphasize enough the positive impact this game had on me.
I would even venture to say that its the only game which actually has been not all negative for me- like shooters & fighting games are cool but this game actually builds creativity & goalsetting skills- you bring meaning into a world without it, its a great analogy for real life.
The redstone is also quite good at helping develop basic analytical skills, as long as you use Java Edition, the Bedrock version's redstone is a bit too unstable in comparison. Education Edition is also pretty neat.
Agree with other comments - what they need is Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles and Jordan Peterson in separate rooms with headsets on and they all play Minecraft on a server, each with their own running commentary in between trash talking each other. I kinda wish he’d have been shown the actual parameters of the game. It’s quite impressive what people are doing. The things KIDS are making. The first time I ported into my nine year old nieces world, I was stunned by her level of creatively and planning. She was literally zoning areas and pre planning her base. She’d build these red stone machines. All the sudden these inanimate blocks would come to life in these elaborate machinery. She did weirdly learn quite a bit of chemistry, and knew basic things like “melted sand makes glass”. She learns from it, she has become wholly patient from it, I see her and her friends acting politically in making decisions for the group, and learning how to share goals and help their fellow man. All of them coming together to build diamond armor and donate items to someone who had someone grief their whole base. It’s a cool game. A really cool game.
The technological ceiling for Minecraft is insane. Even without modding, the freedom the command system gives lets people do pretty much anything, so long as they can find code for it. It's such a great tool, schools are even using it via the education edition, though, I can't claim to know how effective such learning is

You can enslave villagers like the sub-intelligent digital life-forms they are and force them to breed in a dungeon to make more slaves so that you can force them to work on your farms for efficient production and cheap slave labor. More slaves will produce more deals to sell you magic books that can enhance your weapons to be more powerful in combat.
You can also burn down forests to get rid of shade for demon filth and listen to environmentalist furries cry salty tears at your based crusader gameplay.
However, this is still a videogame and you are probably better off cleaning your room and/or meditating or doing something else productive.

My kids dragged me into minecraft so I could play with them, I love crafting games. I spent 3 or 4 days learning how to play and ended up teaching them how to farm and built a castle.

Ben, as a person who grew up with this game, I can confidently say this game was one of the greatest forces in developing my creativity as a child. This game is incredibly deep, and there are a million different ways to play. I would strongly urge you to really learn this game and introduce it to your children; make a world where you guys can work together to build something beautiful. Build a big castle or city, whatever you want, but think of a project that will take months. As a kid, to be able to do this with my dad would have meant the world for me. I cannot emphasize enough the positive impact this game had on me.
I would even venture to say that its the only game which actually has been not all negative for me- like shooters & fighting games are cool but this game actually builds creativity & goalsetting skills- you bring meaning into a world without it, its a great analogy for real life.
The redstone is also quite good at helping develop basic analytical skills, as long as you use Java Edition, the Bedrock version's redstone is a bit too unstable in comparison. Education Edition is also pretty neat.
As a man who loves Minecraft as well… it is his opinion at the end of the day :.(

I kinda wish he’d have been shown the actual parameters of the game. It’s quite impressive what people are doing. The things KIDS are making. The first time I ported into my nine year old nieces world, I was stunned by her level of creatively and planning. She was literally zoning areas and pre planning her base. She’d build these red stone machines. All the sudden these inanimate blocks would come to life in these elaborate machinery. She did weirdly learn quite a bit of chemistry, and knew basic things like “melted sand makes glass”. She learns from it, she has become wholly patient from it, I see her and her friends acting politically in making decisions for the group, and learning how to share goals and help their fellow man. All of them coming together to build diamond armor and donate items to someone who had someone grief their whole base. It’s a cool game. A really cool game.

The technological ceiling for Minecraft is insane. Even without modding, the freedom the command system gives lets people do pretty much anything, so long as they can find code for it. It's such a great tool, schools are even using it via the education edition, though, I can't claim to know how effective such learning is
