- First Sunbreak run! I didn't think I would start with Furious Rajang, I found him pretty hard at first, with not much openings, but after practicing I started to get the hang of it with Spinning axe and Guard 5.
I still have a looooot of farming to do, as it seems like a lot of CB's are viable depending on the match ups.
I went for Kushala CB here, it seemed like a nice bet.
I don't know if the build is optimal yet, still have a way to go.
I'm quite happy of this run tbh, I'm showing off the new spinning axe moves, that air dash is such a nice addition !

Damn your use of Air Dash is actually so good. I've been struggling to use it (I also hate wasting the phial in SAED-style gameplay), but it seems super useful for Spinning Axe.

that wasn't a guard point, it was the slikbind skill
Uh what? Kahlan clearly blocked the roar at 3:24 with a guard point. I'm no speedrunner but I know the difference between a silkbind skill and a guard point.
@@jayday3818 then why did one of the silkbinds got consumed with the block? You can see the second one getting regenerated and then used on the blocking
Holy carp you're right! That's weird. I guess it was so fast the whole animation didn't play. I kinda want to rescind my compliment now...
@@jayday3818 There's a new ability, it wasn't counter peak performance if that's what you though. But this user utilized it very well!

I've played every iteration of Monster Hunter since the original on PS2, I love CB, and this video has multiple interactions I didn't know were possible before watching. Great skill shown. Congrats and well done. You've definitely got a new sub in me.

Damn man that was satisfying to watch. I just reached Furious Rajang tonight and fought him with the Aurora Somna CB.
How happy were you when you realised you can Spinning Slash with Air Dash? That blew my mind the first time I did it by accident!
How do you feel about firing pin? Personally I like it, but you need to run condensed element on one or both of your bars to really get value from it. Being able to use ready stance and quickly swing out your axe to pop them is pretty neat too. Almost makes me want to run Focus so I can double slash faster to build it up.
Also, kind of a weird interaction I noticed, if you go from a bar with Spinning Slash active, and swap to a bar with Element Slash, it'll actually have the sword powered up. And vice versa, but you need to have your axe out when swapping from Element > Spinning, otherwise you lose it (obviously). Know of any other weird quirks that are worth knowing? Took me a while to figure out how Air Dash worked in terms of aiming the phial explosion. Kinda bummed you can't aim 360 and you have to rely on timing to fire it forwards or backwards, but eh, still fun!
What do you like running on your B Wirebug skill? I have fallen in love with Ready Stance (despite how much I hated it in the preview video), and run Axe Hopper on the back bar since that extra motion value and closer phial grouping is just so damn nice... Counter Peak has served me well but the lag on that thing is too much...
I love charge blade so much, so I'm sorry for gushing and asking so many questions. I hope you put some build videos together soon, really not sure which elemental or raw axes to build yet. I kind of got through the story with Kamura tree and then swapped to Malzeno since it looked so damn sweet. Currently running the Ibushi Narwa armour hybrid that benefits from Stormsoul.

Glad that you enjoy the spinning axe as much as I do. The air dash is a lot of fun to use, quick reposition and increased motion value on the axe.
I don't really like firing pin to be honest, I don't find it very efficient.
your shield bash can put firing pins if your shields charged ,so you can just put a couple on the head while you are setting up your phials for savage axe then proc them but its definitely better for saed axe hopper play style
@@kahlan-mh2774 From what I've seen it seems like firing pin pairs very well with chain crit where you use slash into shield bash to both place pins and to build chain crit for the SAED so you get the buff on more than just the last two phials.
Ayy my CB goat posted a run! Quick question. As im still learning this weapon is elemental phial viable for savage axe? I feel its more optimal for SAED but i only know savage axe style so far lol
I think now in Sunbreak, they give you a lot of element/spinning options. It's very viable, especially with chain crit that increases both your attack and element, I think it's always worth to go with the element CB. But you wanna use element phial CB for SAED and use the impact phials with added element for spinning axe.

I was wondering if lunagaron could compete vs daora's cb doing the same job, but then I saw the stats and it all makes sense now.
Maybe the lunagaron is better if you have bad charms but that ice element on the daora it's nuts

what is this kind of quick guard that uses a wirebug that you are using when you cut? Is that "ready stance"? I am not super familiar with the axe mode, I usually use SAED. Is it to cancel and restart the animation and do more damage?
Yes, that's ready stance. It's a great addition to axe mode 😁

So for Savage axe you want an elemental axe with power vials if I see that right? Already put together some ele vial sets, but this looks like a nice change of pace.

Spinning axe refills phials, unlike Iceborne Savage Axe where you lose em over time. The caveat is that you lose spinning axe if you switch to sword and shield or sheathe your weapon.
I should note that it refills phials ON HIT, btw

After the jump from MR4 TO MR5 I seem to remember, you can't miss it it's after dtory stuff where the entire town wants to talk to you again.

@@kahlan-mh2774 was just gonna say this looks like the first actually doable build lol, tha kd for that man! (I'm getting the same rough numbers as you do atm but with the final bosses CB(ugly) and life drain from some of that armour, so yours looks like the comfier build) :D

Can't you use one of Rajangs thunder attacks on the wall bugs so the wall bang would give free thunderblight? Or would that be too cheaty?
so i love using charge blade as well with the spin axe....but ill be honest i dont know how you are doing the quick guard thing in the middle of the spinning. Like where you spin with the axe twice then it looks like a charge/guard position, then go again....yea please let me know how to execute that. much appreciated.
it’s element discharge II (double horizontal swings) cancelled into ready stance (the switch skill that replaces cpp/hopper), looped into itself

I agree actually, was the same in Iceborne imo. But in sunbreak CB is less sluggish so you can punish him more, even tho I think he has less openings.
there are way lesser openings now but its fine for now I guess

Newbie here I have 2 questions if anyone could answer my doubt.
1. 1:04 How can it gain phial during spinning AXE mode?
2. 1:30 How can it maintain spinning AXE mode after ready stance?
1) you can build phials during savage axe when you hit multiple times with the spinning axe
2) you can maintain savage axe with a ready stance by following up with elemental discharge I or II
1. When using savage axe/ condensed spinning slash, every 3rd hit in axe mode gives 1 phial stored. 2. Ready stance gives options depending on the mode used before, if in sword you can slash or morph, and if in axe you can morph, or go into element discharge 1 or 2 depending on if you input a direction with the button, therefore he cancels the end of discharge 2 to repeat it. Since he never leaves axe mode, the pizzacutter never ends
question, does guard 5 on cb give you guard 7 with charged sheild and guard point?

Sunbreak monsters feel larger in general than Rise, like everyone got a size buff
