- The “Key Casting Challenge” was started by Lucas on his channel Lundgren Bronze Studios.
After many years having fun learning and casting bronze jewellery I thought I’ll take up his challenge and have a go at casting a key that operates a lock.
Lucas is an awesome sculptor and makes some amazing videos for his channel showing his journey casting a variety of elaborate sculptures.

thanks Jim, I was dubious, but had to give it a go … I so nearly gave up, but then suddenly after enough filing it fitted the hole and worked. I was glad I chose a keyhole so close to my workbench … A car key would have been difficult … N

Hi Richard, after hours of fettling I was ready to give up but after a few more rubs, it suddenly worked I now have a shiny spare key for my workshop .. N
@@Nickscreativestuff We see movies where people sneak a key from some evil corporation to make a copy. It's obviously MUCH harder than that! I too like the word fettling. Fun watch!

Hi Aa, the Crucibles I use sometimes called a Scorifier are made from fireproof ceramics … N
It has been a long time since I cast it with sand. Now it has failed many times and it has lost its shape. There is always a part of the shape that is missing.
I do love Delft Clay such a quality product. I occasionally have troubles with it, but normally the successes far outweigh the failures … N
Will your clay turn into fine sand when it dries? Mine needs to be mixed with some water before it can be used.
Delft Clay is bonded with oil so it never dries out … N
