I swear FromSoft picks people with the best laughs to voice their characters. Also, I really don't get why Siegmeyer is bummed out about not having plans or being helped or whatever. He's obviously a capable knight. He got to Sen's Funhouse, through Sen's Funhouse, through Anal Rodeo, etc. I doubt he's stealthy in that Onion armor of his, so he had to at least fight a few enemies along the way. The player is just helping him out on occasion, not holding his hand through the whole thing.
From what I remember, the whole deal is that he came to Lordran to create his own adventures, but he keeps getting stuck. And when you save him time and time again, he loses hope in himself. And in Lost Izalith, he makes a last ditch effort to try and sacrifice himself to let you escape the chaos eaters. Then you save him. He loses all hope in him being capable, and goes on one final adventure to Ash Lake where he goes hollow...
@@maxwelldavidson4157 well that but also i think he wants to have a "true" adventure and actually do it himself his purpose was like you said to create his owns adventures so with the fact that he loses hope and that he doesnt have a purpose anymore or alteast what he believes he goes hollow
"Oh, father... Dear, Father..." The way she talks, the lamentation, the crying... No matter how many times I go through this scene, it always makes me sad.
@@anonanon6764 all undead are fated to hallow. Even if you save him he will eventually hallow. This is why most characters in ds1 hallow at some point of their quest line.
That... that was an adventure, happiness, character development, anger and action then finally suspense and incredible amounts of sorrow. My heart has truly been ripped apart by this good boy, no, this great boy!
I was always suspicious of his "daughter". You only go hollow when you've lost purpose, Sigmeyer had plenty of it too. Also why did she kill him in the first place, turning him undead? Maybe she came to finish the job?? On the other hand, the player basically rids Sigmeyer of every chance to be a hero, so it makes sense for him to finally go hollow after hearing his wife's last words. Plus that last line where Sieglinde cries over him sounds pretty genuine. I wish FromSoftware published books detailing the whole story of characters from a first person perspective (the person being the character). It would be so interesting reading the whole story behind why Sieglinde killed her father in the first place and what drove him from his home, causing him to be absent during the death of his wife.
Holy shit. I just thought of something. What if Seigmeyer sacrificed himself for his daughter as he constantly offers to do for you and she blames herself for it? Jesus. Just the IMPLIED story made me cry.
@Alec Anything's possible I guess. But the fact that they are at Ash Lake would lead me to believe that might not be true. That area is relativity passive compared to the rest of Lordran. The only real threat is the Hydra which is pretty avoidable. Although you do bring up a good point because the dialog can DEFINITELY imply that. Perhaps she blames herself for when he first died and became undead. Now she blames herself again. There's so many possibilities with this story it's really amazing.
Yeah, he's just hollow at Ashen Lake. I meant when he first died. His first death was to protect his daughter. Maybe he didn't want her to find him. That's the reason for his adventure. He wanted her to remember him as a hero. He could give a damn about the rest of this quest because he knows he's incapable of fulfilling it. He's here to give his life for those who can and serve the greatest purpose he can serve and finally rest in peace as an honorable man, unless you don't let him. Unless you make a distressing damsel out of him in his own afterlife. SIEGMEYER, I HAD NO IDEA. T^T
The one line that bothers me is "he will cause no more trouble". It could just be a joke like "oh my father is always getting into trouble" but it sounds serious like when someone is executed and they say "he won't be causing any more trouble". That line is made even more conspicuous by the next line "it's finally over". What is the IT that she is talking about? If IT is simply her father's life then it seems strange to talk about it like it's a bad movie. I wish I could just believe it was a sad story between a father and daughter but Sieglinde just sounds so suspicious to me.
I think "It's finally over" meant her troubles with the journey of her mother's last words hindering her. I do know what you mean, though. She did sound like an assassin, but without a clearer line of motive, there's no way to know for sure. Maybe you're right. Maybe Siegmeyer was a criminal in his last life, but he failed to die for good. Maybe his suicidal yearning for redemption is what drives him to sacrifice himself for your linking of the flame. Maybe he betrayed the faith of his wife and her last words were spiteful of him. Maybe Sieglinde whispered them to him and the fact that he'd never be heroic was motive enough to lose his sanity and hollow. Either way, god DAMN.
When I first played this game I knew of solaire and loved him but honestly the meeting of siegemeyer just made me love him a tiny bit more than solaire 😅 “Still closed still closed, hmmmm” is really cute honestly.
Thank you for uploading this. I’m on my 3rd playthrough and damn I missed this quest line again at Sen’s fortress (last time I missed it at Anor Londo). Perhaps I’ll just settle with the assumption that Siegmeyer is alive somewhere in my playthrough;;
I...I juste killed him... Siegmeyer I'm so sorry I tried to help you against those monsters ! But my weapon...I didn't want to hit you it was an accident ! It's too late now...I would do everithing to bring you back... And what will you daughter think ? Should I even tell her ? Could she forgive me ? I'm so sorry...Sieg...My friend... ;-(

I was merelly a boy when i played this game,after 10+ years, i tear up when i see his quest.
It’s just not fair. I just wanted to be his friend and go on an amazing adventure with him.
The ability to sleep standing up is impressive
