Was ist seine wirkliche Bedeutung in spiritueller Hinsicht?". If you have your UA-cam in German, you should be able to see that on the description of this video.

That’s true. Blinded people are. But the one who gives sight explains the good life, in this way, ‘Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.’ ‘For everyone born of God overcomes the world’ and death is seen by many as a rebirth into a better world. Thus the way of the Jesus is just.

This is fantastic explanation of Animism and explains perfectly why I turned to Paganism and spirituality after 28years of being an Atheist (or at least Agnostic).
For me, religion has taken a form of a complete appreciation of nature and the world and the ecosystem and my attempt to reinsert myself in it and very mindfully take actions that I know will cause a ripple effect in both my own life and the lives and spirits of everything around me. The idea of gods to me is a way to channel my appreciation but the core reason I have begun to follow the ancient traditions is the very act of appreciating and participating in the ecosystem that surrounds us. Where modern religions think towards the future at the expense of the present, I want to be present at all times.
    Thank you for your video!

This was awesome. So many great points and it truly only scratches the surface. For me, I think mass production has destroyed the connection we once had to material objects; the importance of an object in regards to harboring the essence of its creator/maker. I'm not sure if that feeling falls under animism, but it feels like it fits.
I personally do not worship a deity since walking away from Christianity. Why replace one master with another? For me, the Norse deities fulfill a communication need by personifying spiritual responsibilities or human nature. For example: My role in my family, my daily responsibilities are personified in Frigg. My hunger for knowledge is personified in Odin. My connection with the spiritual realm/world/plane is personified in Freyja. I do not worship them but rather acknowledge the personification of something that is rather difficult to sum up without their personified names.
I apologize if this sounds like the ramblings of a crazed individual. It's quite hard to put into words what one feels spiritually. Thus the personification of these things through deities. They make it easier to discuss the spiritual aspects they represent. :)

I left Catholicism years ago, and at 23 I have never stopped searching, especially in the stories of my ancestors and my family. Even as a kid, I always hated church, and said that I only felt God in nature. Finding this interpretation of the myths, understanding animism and it's truths, is so profoundly fulfilling. I am slowly but surely learning, and sharing these principles with my family to help them follow with me into the woods 😁

    • @aumatomos7811
      @aumatomos7811 3 роки тому

@God of the Eternal light. Yes connected in three ways. body, mind and spirit. Reality is AUM_ "A=outer aspect of physical, U= inner aspect of thoughts/ minds and M=undirected aspect of the witness spirit, pure awareness. Silence before and after is the fourth state, brahman" - upanishads.
Reality could be divided into underworld, middleworld and upperworld also. These three meta states are always present and inherited in all life. So its dance of energy and information (Brahma, prakrit) and consciousness (shiva, purusha) . Mind is the "between state", the meeting point of living and nonliving, balacing and supporting "the dance," (vishnu, citta).
So you could say brain produces the consciousness, but looking at unicellular organisms and bacteria they react, communicate, breath, reproduce, eat, attack and defend, learn and evolve. All this without brains. Consciousness is everywhere. Energy, space and information is everywhere.
      Tree, seed, life.
      Matter, laws, emptiness or chaos.
Ice, water, water vapor. In the end all these states are h2o.
This is why in good spiritual system all three realms should be covered.
Kriya yoga has three actions for three realms.
Ashtanga yoga has 8 limbs so, 3 methods for body, 3 for the mind and two for the "spirit".
Jains, buddhist and even Jesus (quite similar to kriya yoga)
Had practices for these three realms.
So moral life, action, healthiness, learning and training.
Controlling breathing, senses, focusing the mind and destroying obstructions of the mind.
These two realms in balance make way for experiencing the third realm of spirit and true meditation and samadhi more likely. When you let spirit shine even little, it will destroy illusions and these cyclical patterns of the mind. When many individuals practice this and it will be collective effort, feeding itself and it will spread, then earth will be better place. This is why Jesus said put new wine in new vases. this is what happens when "seeds will land in fertile soil and produce harvest". This is what Jesus meant when he spoke about kingdom of heaven being amongst us or inside us. This is why jesus and the father are one and we are one with jesus.
I hope this made some sense im still figuring out how all religions are connected and if some have insight into how shamans travelled between realms i would appreciate it. Didnt they get remedies and cures for the body from underworld ? Did they get divine inspiration from the upperworld ?

This is really what I've been looking for. While it seems like most pagans come from a deity-centric point of view, for me, I approach animism as the bedrock of my paganism. I have never believed in gods (whether I desire to or not), but I cannot deny the depth of wisdom contained within places rich with life, such as forests, rivers, and oceans.

At the start of the video, I thought: "This had better be good!" At the end of the video, I thought: "That was very good."
I think you explained it as well as it could be explained in words in that amount of time, and you tempered well the inevitable feelings that arise from knowing these comparisons. To be honest, more words over more time would not necessarily help much, either. You could describe examples, but it must go soon to direct experience to be really learned. Even to sit and watch the lifetime of a single campfire with one who knows its kind is some help.
This is a bit of telling, perhaps: A while back, I was discussing functions and perspectives of the practitioner with a senior occultist/witch. I compared ceremonial/spellwork/high magic with what I do (approx):
"When you do a spell, you start as yourself, you strive to maintain yourself, and you expect to remain yourself throughout, and still be yourself at the end. This power of self is the essence of the practice, and the magic you do is to help yourself or your will for others in the world in some way, guided by your own wisdom. This is how you wield power, and why you (must) always seek more of it.
"When I go out, the first thing I do is essentially lose myself into the environment, and I don't expect to be the same self when I return -- I am not trying to remain 'me'! -- and what comes back may not be quite the same creature as what went out in the first place. I trust the power of Nature to make me what she wants me to be, to wield her will by her own wisdom. Then, as long as I am seeking after what she wants of me, it is her will and her power that must be reckoned with."
Also, when talking to theists (including pagan priests & practitioners), I have sometimes described the relationship like this: "You give offerings and rituals to your gods, to ask for good luck or fate in the hunt, or to fish, and sometimes they can give it to you. I ask the Forest, and I ask the Lake, and they give me what they can spare of the bounty they have, and they direct my ways accordingly. I go without guarantee of what I will receive, only that it will suffice."
These things are not a matter of humility or arrogance -- for either can lead one astray. It is a matter of how the magic flows. It is not a matter of holiness or profanity, nor even of knowing and remembering -- for such things are but whispers on the winds, subject to overturn. It is a matter of communion, of Becoming where we are. To some extent, and when done well, it is about finding the world where the possible has become the inevitable, the art of Navigation.
Thank you for being you, and for your good work. You are a boon to the tribe :)

Interesting that you asked that. A friend just sent me something that confirms what I suspected: Egyptian-Arab historical accounts of the 15th century tell us that during the 14th century people still made offerings to the Great Sphinx (mostly peasants), hoping to control the flood cycles, for successful harvests. But a Sufi Muslim named Muhammad Sa'im al-Dahr was outraged by this display of devotion that ended up destroying the nose of the Great Sphinx (I suspect for the reasons I've expressed in this video - to "kill" the spirit within and so it wouldn't be able to take action on the phsyical plane). He was executed for vandalism.

I myself was taught and am an Animist as an Old Crafter. Many in the Neo pagan culture have a hard time understanding this, or even the reconstructionist pagan cultures because they themselves are religious. That's for them, and that's fine by me, but as an Animist we don't worship but rather work with these entities. As a magical practitioner of the old kind we work to re-come to the foundations of our ancestral understandings of the universe. It's not easier, but it works more smoothly being a magical practitioner since we don't have religious taboos that we have to fight with, but rather understanding natural taboos and how they function and in some rare cases broken to get the effect necessary in our magical praxis.
Keep up the good work explaining these older beliefs and customs, it seems to help people broaden their own understanding, and it gives someone like myself another mind to point to when people ask me if their are anyone else that explains this.

indeed it is. It's a whole other way of thinking :)

    • @MerianyaS
      @MerianyaS 5 років тому +2

My husband and I were talking about this just the other day. We both agreed that the concept of monotheism sets its practitioners up with a sense of utter absolutism that can only ever lead to conflict, as each person is certain that their own belief is the only right way of believing. It leads to bitter splits in a society, not just between different religions but within the religions themselves. Thus we end up with Catholics and Lutherans and Baptists and Pentecostals, etc. who, despite all being Christians, are at odds with each other nearly as much as they are with Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, etc.
Polytheism, on the other hand, allows for a lot more "wiggle room" in how one interprets and interacts with spiritual matters. There is a lot more opportunity to try to find commonalities between the gods that different people worship. Obviously it doesn't always happen that way, but it's a lot easier to find common ground in a polytheistic mindset than there is in a monotheistic one.

Kinda like living in a space, and in this space the people you are surrounded with are your family, or others family. The only difference is that to those of us who live in this way of being, our family are not just people. They are plants animals, and even certain objects, and others are respected because they are possessed of the divine light. So we make that effort to show care and protect our family members and maintain relationships. Many times there is a story as to why, and because of it, we respect the tradition and the relationship is mutually beneficial. A good example is Hawaiian people and Kalo, our brother or Uncle. We care for him and his children and they feed us. The relationship is mutually beneficial, but it's not just because of that its because Kalo and his family are our relatives.

Brilliant video arith varger!! It is time we discarded abrahamism as it truly does no benifit to us or the world around us.
Nature is divine and the ultimate creator, the English worshiped nerthus / frigg specifically as she is the mother of all and the qualitys we wish to embody will be found in all the noble creatures of this world such as the boar, the bear, the eagle and the wolf.

Yes down with the 3 headed hound of Abraham. So vile those desert religions. Of those 3 I would have to say Christianity is the most sinister. Christianity was and is a slave driving, brain washing, culture destroying political movement

'It is time we discarded abrahamism'; I don't see this happening in the state anytime soon. Abrahamic religions live off of fear. It's breaks people's spirits and tells them they are nothing and need a god/savior to realize their full potential, and the US *thrives* off of fear, especially in politics.

Mate I think we discarded “abrahamism” a long time ago. Christianity, when it first came to the British isles, was actually a religion of the poor and downtrodden in society, as opposed to the elite priests of the old gods, but the pattern of history repeated and the elite priests became Christians. You know what’s god is worshipped by the elites today? The Market. I don’t think god holds as much sway as you seem to think. “spirituality” (including all these pagan revivals) is actually quite popular in the uk, but it’s all very artificial seen as we know fuck all about the gods we once worshipped.

    • @warboats
      @warboats 3 роки тому

@@phillipjordan3013 a lot of these old pagan cultures literally kept slaves. Christianity was,in the beginning, an emancipatory movement first adopted by the slaves and the poor, before it was taken up, out of necessity and fear of the masses, by the rulers of these pagan cultures.

If more people would take this spiritually to heart our world would be a better healthier place. Instead we are killing the planet over wealth. If there are no bees we die! There’s a spiritual realm where we go to and our ancestors reside. I know my father is with me and watches over me. I had to seek a shaman over a life threatening health condition. She told me my father was right next to me and that I would not die…although I was given 3-4months to live and told to get my affairs in order by the doctors. I followed her advice on cleansing my body and becoming grounded with the natural healing power of the earth. Well that was 11 years ago, there is definitely “something” to the old ways that we have ignored or were never taught. Thanks Arith for this video.

'Animism' the way you have explained made me very happy because I have been searching for 'meaning' and 'purpose' of life and role of 'spirits' which are also called 'aliens' to give modern look.
You have given a clearest picture of 'life' and 'spirits' which is my destination in my personal 'life'. I am thankful to you for this favour.
Only today I happened to see your video in 'you tube'. So I am late to comment on your video.
Now as on date, that is October 2023 and the date 17, we are seeing wars on two places between two on each side. So total 4 countries are involved. It is not that only two countries are involved, in fact many more countries are behind each country. Thus it means lot many countries are at war.
War is other name for 'distruction'. Already lot many countries are at war. Where we are heading to? Earth, nature, animals, plants, forces of nature like water, air, soil, sky and ground all gets polluted and may loose their calming and soothing nature.
I look towards to you to do something to stop these wars and destruction by explaining evils of war in your videos. Thanks.

I've long been describing my beliefs as Animism rather than just Polytheism, since this is by far the most accurate identifier as to what I actually believe. I prefer the approach of Animism also, as it brings a sense traditions that are living, organic, continuously unfolding - ancient at the roots but having living buds, blossoms and leaves.

Oh yes, I said that in here and it was the slip of the tongue. I said most pagan deities were once humans who stood out, hence the cult of the ancestors, but right after that I said the gods are our direct descendants, and what I meant was that WE are their direct descendants, hehe. But then again... many gods came after us, human beings, so in that way they are the descendants of some one and will become ancestors :P but yeah... in this case it was really the slip of the tongue. What a shame :x

I'm not sure if you are at all interested in post structuralism; but I thought give your interest in Animism I thought you might be interested in Jane Bennett's Book Vibrant Matter, which argues that it is more philosophically correct and adaptive to understand all things (including inanimate object) as processing agency. I'm personally really happy to see the ideas of animism slowly returning to the world through a verity of vectors. Thanks again for all of your thoughtful commentary I'm learning a lot and discovering deeper ways to think about my own practice.
