@@JohnCena-um5uo Reiner didnt die but people actually held him accountable for his actions. Annie never was even yelled at lol. They talk about Marco with reiner but levi doesnt bring up his annie murdered the levi squad like come on
I loved this episode. But it's also the same ep where I started to hate Annie. She really doesn't care about anything, but herself. And personally it makes you kinda side with the Yeagerists, because it's hard to justify anything Annie's done. She starts off the story killing the scouts and then comes back years later to do the same thing. All those people the main cast killed helped Annie when she was literally killing them and enjoying it.. Now we're supposed to side with her because her Dad may get crushed..FOH with that logic.
Yeah I felt the same way watching, way too hard to justify main cast actions when they turn around and betrayed their main friend and all those who died for no reason lol. They sided with the same people who invaded the walls and killed all their families only to side them in the very end.
Im so glad Im not the only one who felt that. What Eren is doing is wrong, but he’s doing it for good reasons, but it’s ironic how many people who cheer for the alliance are talk about Eren killing civilians forgive Annie for all the death that she’s caused, and said she would do it again, killing their friends and their comrades, just to see her father. Which is fine for her, but it makes her selfish, and not much different from Eren.
@Isaiah Wood67 It's no excuse for poor story telling and subversion for the sake of subversion. It makes no sense for the cast to back Eren into saving Eldia and his friends from the entire world only to change their minds on a whim to further the plots sake. You could actually just skip the first 3 seasons and be back to square one with this shitty writing.
@Isaiah Wood67 Why is this even a debate? Most people agree 139 was one of the worst chapters in all of AOT but you are somehow defending a nonsensical conclusion and I could give a dozen reasons as to why none of these characters motivations line up with their goals in the past 80 or so episodes.
@@MrZulgen You're wrong in your second comment. Not a single one of them ever wanted a rumbling of the entire world. Show me where they ever said they wanted that, I dare you. Armin SPECIFICALLY said he only wanted a mini rumbling of MARLEY their ENEMY! That's why he even freaks out when he sees eren used all of the walls titans instead of just one small section of the wall. Nobody has ever flip flopped about this. You're free to feel however you want to feel but if you start giving reasons that are factually untrue you're just going to look dumb. At least think of an actual argument man. It's not everyone else's fault or problem that you cant keep up or follow along with a story that's been explained every step of the way 😆 Are there issues with some parts of the writing? Absolutely! But what you named is not one of them. Nobody ever wanted a mass genocide of the ENTIRE WORLDS population, like you cant actually be this dumb. You're probably just an eren simp that thinks theres nothing wrong with a mass genocide of the entire planet & nothing wrong with killing billions of innocent people. Eren shouldve just wiped out marley with a mini rumbling. His friends wouldnt have even tried to stop him if he did that
Gotta love how Magath tells Yelena "I'll keep breaking your arm until you tell me" while he's covering her mouth and she can't talk. Also why would Yelena know where Eren is going? She was blindsided by the rumbling and wasn't really an ally to Erens plan, she was in on Zeke's plan.
She told eren where military bases are in marley so that eren would target them first when he did the partial rumbling. She was on board with the partial rumbling
From start to finish I absolutely hated this episode. If Connie was friends with Samuel and Daz, he would've shot them once. But no he put 2 bullets in Daz and 3 bullets in Samuel. What about there Daz and Sam's parents? Connie has to tell them he killed them. What then? And Levi has nothing to say to Annie after she killed his whole squad? Really? I am legitimately sad, because this was my favorite anime, and now I have to hate it.
exactly, it's this shows strength (formerly), levi at least reacting to seeing annie back or mentioning the levi squad is essential to realism, which this show used to do, now it's hyper focused on moving the plot in a certain direction which hinders these scenes from happening and it ruins the immersion, the one thing that should never be ruined
So Armin the genius could forsee the supposed importance of saving Falco, but couldn't understand how his actions make it fundamentally impossible for them to defeat the yeagerists without killing?? 🤡🤡🤡🤡
he knows that he probably has to kill them but he doesn't want too. armin has known these guys since boot camp from years ago. imagine having to kill your friends that you grew up with having shared trauma with trying to save the world from titans and losing countless friends along the way. to decide to kill your friends for the good of all mankind is a harder choice to make then we could ever possibly understand
Noone goes to war wanting to kill. This goes especially for Civil Wars, wars between your brothers. Just look at how Ukranians view the war with Russia; a tragedy. Ukranians don't want to not only see their kin die, but for their brothers to die as well. But they know they must because of their state. And the same goes for many Russians who were sent into war while being told they were heroes only to find out that they're not
@@aaronezzo3846 ofc Armin doesn't want to but if it had been some nameless soldier, then no one would care becos at this point in the story, while millions are dying in the rumbling, there's no time to waste. Yet, the protagonists, who are supposedly desperate to stop Eren, also want to take their time to do things "the right way". Once again, Isayama wants to have it both ways, like he did for this entire final arc. The gang all know what it means to stop Eren. It's not the sort of thing you'd do on a whim. Except, the story makes it seem that way & I'm not buying it becos I've read 100+ chapters of this shit & I know they're not fools. Fair enough if this moment added to later scenes. Like, if it immediately forced them to realise that they wouldn't be able to reason with Eren or if it gave them the resolve to kill Eren without hesitation... But no, instead they keep hesitating & pondering every hard choice. Just so Isayama can tell us obvious shit like "Racism is bad kids!". Or, in this case, to repeat well established ideas, e.g. the world is cruel. Fair enough if it were executed well but this was just terrible. This confrontation should've happened after the coup started & before Marley's assault. Imagine how much more impactful this would be if Daz & Samuel were in the restaurant scene with Eren & Floch. They'd be no need for half an episode debating morality, again. Armin & Co would've acted on a better plan and while they killed their friends, they could briefly hesitated. Or reflect on it after they got away. Something similar to when Hanes got killed. But no, Isayama was too focused on making sure the reader knows genocide is bad... Despite putting on his efforts into make this scenario in the first place 😑. Which is probably why the strategies & battle logic goes to ass.
@@freewyvern707 no one? The Romans were hyped up and even cried when Caesar said he want to conquer Gaul and retake Rome.
They also didn’t put the little flashback of Sasha showing the scouts the meat she stole when Samuel said “we were supposed to expand land and eat meat together.” It’s a little thing but it woulda put a little more emotion to the scene.
I was so disappointed they didn’t put that in honestly it would’ve made so much more impact to the audience since samuel was only in that one scene pretty much lol
It doesn’t feel realistic why kill your person that’s protecting your home place yet you’re teaming up against the enemy while killing your own people and the execution was ugly
For me it's the other way around. I first look at a story from a writing standpoint, which DOES have an objective merit (miss me with that "art is subjective" argument, psuedo intellectuals). If the writing is objectively bad, which in the case of AoT's final arc, it is, my suspension of disbelief gets broken, and as a result I can't get emotionally attached at all. But I've realized that most people don't view stories in such a way, which makes it easier for them to accept anything no matter how bullshit it is.
How’d an old lady manage to defeat an armed soldier? Also the Ackermans ain’t shit anymore, none of their fights are as legendary. I mean mikasa’s fights were never all that but Levi’s fights were iconic, I miss wit * when I say Ackermans I’m referring to mikasa and levi

I am so glad I am not the only one who felt that the recent episode were trash not only animation wise but also story and the character development. How does Reiner and Annie know how to use the odm gear so well without practice for years. And the two yeargist who Connie killed were so stupid. This is such trash writing as the mangaka rushed the whole ending.
Well the best comparison i could give you for Annie and Renier using Odm gear is like getting on a bike for the first time in years. You already know how to ride it
@Manvëru If they were going for an AoE, I think the writing would have been improved. Think about it, are we expecting the same man who wrote this to write an original ending that is coherent and true to the characters? After portraying the alliance as the undisputed good guys and the jaegerists as evil stormtroopers? Making Connie out to be sympathetic after killing his friends in cold blood when he didn't have to? I don't trust isayama to write an original ending after writing the alliance the way he did with no changes. He clearly wants you to root for the alliance and for them to defeat big bad eren
Ngl, the animation is kinda lacking. It looks too plain to watch compared how it look in the beginning of S4 Part 2. It looks like their out of budget now for this show. It was watchable at AOT S4-S4 Part 2 beginning part. The rest just made me sleep. It’s fine, since I already read the manga. I know how it going to end.
Thats what i thought. The way titans are animated by WIT hit different and they actually feel big. Here in S4 the titans just feel like normal people who just got sized up. Mappa still doing a great ass job though
Argh! Only 2 episodes left and they said that the anime will only go until chapter 130 of the manga. Which means 9 chapters will be either animated into a movie, or they’ll rush the ending like the promised neverland season 2. Either way, it’s not looking good in the next 2 weeks.
This was all pre-planned.....im not sure how the 9 chapter would fit into a movie and I also think there are gonna be some changes in the ending .....don't hate just my opinion

I don't think you are a griefter, you probably are genuinely having a bad moment watching the show. Most of the reaction is "this character is not doing what I want him to do, it's trash writting and everyone who disagree, simply doesn't want to admit it".
@@yoush3599 Great advice ! I will do that ! Was killing poor Sam the only possible option ? Certainly not, but it made sense to do it in context, still a brutal thing to do tho. This was a situation of intense emotional stress for Connie, he also needed to act fast because a battle is going on and the stakes are absurdly high, litteraly the fate of humanity, we also know the guy is very emotional and not a rocket scientist, so it's likely he will go for the fastest and easyer solution, he could also be impulsive because of his current mental state. But even leaving that out, what other options can you actually think of ? They can tell Samuel to run, but there is no reason to think he will stop figthing, so he would likely turn against them or get flattened by a titan anyway. They can knock him out, but what next ? They can't move him because they are surrounded by Yeagerists, so they would have to leave him next to the plane they need to protect and a bunch of explosives . They can try to capture him , but can they afford to watch a prisonner when there is a battle going on and both Armin and Connie will be needed ? Saying "they didn't have to kill him" is factual, but it's really implying "it make no sense to kill him, it's dumb", which is wrong.

It is so crazy, to see peoples’ vociferous support of the genocide in this story. The reactions to the show, have become a meta commentary. This is exactly what Isayama is warning us about, which is why everyone is so angry, because they see themselves exposed and critiqued. Really wild stuff.
But both sides are trying to genocide eachother? If eldia doesn’t genocide the world, the world will genocide them. This isn’t about doing the right thing, it’s about survival, the alliance is literally fighting for the genocide of their own people, you’ll understand once you see the ending of the manga.
Isayama is an idiot. He wrote a story where genocide is literally the only option your heroes have. One mishap in terms of passing the Titan powers forward and the Eldians are under the forced peace of the first king. Unable to protect themselves from the world that's trying to genocide them. He writers a totally unrealistic situation where its either be genocided or commit genocide. No in between. And when readers go "I mean its literally their only option" that's supposed to be some sort of commentarty?
@@onepiecefan74 To say that the author is an idiot is not fair. I believe there could be a peaceful alternative to what's happening in the latest episodes, but both sides have been hurt so much that they can't forgive the other. I find it quite realistic, because that's how traumatized people operate after being oppressed for so long. They might get defensive and destructive in order to persevere themselves. And I think the extreme situation AoT's characters are put in allows us to understand this concept better.
@@littlejarofhopes It's not realistic at all, every character in the Alliance helped Eren with the 80/20 plan until it actually occured and then all of a sudden they regret their decision. Unless you are thinking that they knew that Eren had a plan to peacefully end the war which to me sounds unrealistic given the themes and nature of the show.
You had no prob enjoying Floch executing someone for badmouthing him, but have a problem with Connie shooting Samuel for shooting first??? Make it make sense
I understand that you didn't like the episode and I think it's totally normal but I also noticed that because you didn't like it, you even complained about things that had no reason to be criticized.
Because it's a different context and perspective......Connie could not kill Falco who he barley knew to save his mother, but can kill Samuel and Danz who he knew for years. He could have disarmed and knocked them out instead.
@@EdwardTheMedievalist The same can be said for your comment, different contexts and perspectives, if Connie had killed Falco without thinking it would have been weird. Connie was definitely going to kill Falco, but he saw Falco as an innocent child and that made it difficult for him, but it wasn't going to make it impossible for him to kill him. By the time he killed the 2 teammates he was in a quick decision situation, he had no way to fight the 2, Armin had already been shot, and in fact his teammates shot Armin very easily too, however letting knowing that Armin can recover but that was an attitude that already showed that they were not about to negotiate. Onyankopon's line when he was going to be killed by the Floch is the one that best describes the situation, the Yeagerists are a bunch of Xenophobics that don't differ in any way from the people of Marley who were oppressing them. It is clear that if the world were dominated by just these people that nothing would change, the war would be between the Eldians of Paradis themselves. Just like the Eldians were already fighting each other for the power struggle of the Titans and destroying the world until the king collected them all to Paradis. If everyone in the world were exterminated the dispute would be internal, for the power of the Titans. My English is terrible, I'm learning.
Killing billions of people is bad but did we forget why Eren did it in the first place? The world was gonna declare war on Paradis and want them to extinct anyway, thousand of years Paradis Eldians were locked inside a wall and fear of Titans that the Marley created. Spoiler: Idk if you read the manga but there's a panel where Eren apologizes to Ramzi because he knew his gonna do something terrible and that an innocent child such as Ramzi will die, he felt so guilty.
Lmao he says it isn’t justified for Connie to kill one guy (while that same guy’s friends is ordered to kill Connie’s friends) but completely justify Eren slaughtering billions and thinks he should end the world . 💀

I don't think the idea of the alliance is bad at all but Isayama could have handled some things better, like Annie's story. In the end the alliance logic is basically Eren's logic and that's what Isayama wanted to portray in my opinion: characters that have a goal in their mind thinking it's the right thing to do but they also have to do terrible things to accomplish it. So basically everyone wants the end of this cycle of hatred: Zeke and Eren think that it's only possible if one the sides perish. Zeke wants it to be the Eldians while Eren the rest of the world, and they do terrible things to accomplish their goal, because they think it's for the best. Armin and the others think that there could be a third option which would be possible without killing a ton of people even though it's a far more difficult route (the partial rumbling), and they do terrible things to accomplish it, like killing their comrades, because they think it's for the best. It's the same thing.
Not trying to be agressive; The reason the alliance is straight up stupid, is because of them trying to halt the Rumbling. Once it began, there is no stopping it without even worse consequences than if it kept going until 100%. The extra manga pages prove it. If you stop the Rumbling after it already reached the coast (which is inevitable, stated by the show itself), then the whole world would hate all of them even more than they already did, team up against them, and ambush Paradis. (Going by the Manga's) 20% has enough force and resources (and more people) to win a war against the Island, because the power of titans has been taken from the eldians. Also nobody is going to suddenly be friendly with Eldians (after their homes got destroyed) because of Armin claiming that he and the other cringevengers killed Eren Yeager. If Eren completes the Rumbling, than he can free Ymir and safely get rid of the Power of Titans (so there would be no fighting over titan powers and children eating their own parents anymore) Honestly the alliance getting so much love from the audience sickens me. I wish Isayama went with AnR, took down their Plot-Armour, and made the choice to choose the realistic ending, which would have been the cherry-on-top for an amazing show. It is pretty sad how the whole 'Eremika shipping' fanservice thing ruined the whole ending.
It's funny how Yelena talked about the idea of saving the world allowed them all to justify terrible actions in the last episode. And they spend this episode killing and betraying their friends with the same justification.
Right, except what they're doing is morally justified in the name of fighting genocide. A lot of what they do is terrible as Yelena highlighted but that's kinda the fucking point
Queue Connie back to the first episode of this season saying how he's tired of being betrayed by his friends. The Alliance are clowns, but Connie is the whole circus.
Also remember when he got angry after finding out what happened to his village and swore vengeance on whoever did it at the end of Season 2? Then the mf never interacts with Zeke 🤡🤡

This is a bit stupid logic but when they say it's flying boat they are thinking it's a boat with flies. So what they thought they have to do to make sure is just to detach the plane to safe space and fly to collect the others or something. Which is ofcourse ridiculous to hear for some who knows how planes work. What makes it much more stupid is that people like azumabito engineers and onyakopon is are the critical role players in making boat fly. Yeah engineers didn't get to meet scouts but atleast onyankopon should have made scouts aware on how plane works and need fitting and inspection before flying🤦♂️. So, from the start they never had chance to sneek out the plane, the best they can do is to reach the plane without getting suspected and protect the plane till the opposing party is wiped out which is what happened.

Annie gets such a huge pass from everyone on the show, she could probably just walk past the Yeagerists and they wouldn't even mind.

and how lame writing is done here
I loved this episode.
It's not everyone else's fault or problem that you cant keep up or follow along with a story that's been explained every step of the way 😆
Are there issues with some parts of the writing?

Really? he knows that he probably has to kill them but he doesn't want too. armin has known these guys since boot camp from years ago. imagine having to kill your friends that you grew up with having shared trauma with trying to save the world from titans and losing countless friends along the way. to decide to kill your friends for the good of all mankind is a harder choice to make then we could ever possibly understand

You already know how to ride it
Annie and Reiner were top 5 best in their class + they're child soldiers from Marley so its really not that surprising.
The ODM gear is a nitpick. Everything in your comment though is spot on.

Eren succeeded the Rumbling and killed avengers
@Manvëru If they were going for an AoE, I think the writing would have been improved. Think about it, are we expecting the same man who wrote this to write an original ending that is coherent and true to the characters? After portraying the alliance as the undisputed good guys and the jaegerists as evil stormtroopers? Making Connie out to be sympathetic after killing his friends in cold blood when he didn't have to? I don't trust isayama to write an original ending after writing the alliance the way he did with no changes. He clearly wants you to root for the alliance and for them to defeat big bad eren

Think harder before commenting. Why would Connie possibly kill Sam? Think about it.

Pretty sure everyone except the Yagerist is against the genocide in the story. As for the fandom - yeha they are a bunch of psycholaths
@@littlejarofhopes It's not realistic at all, every character in the Alliance helped Eren with the 80/20 plan until it actually occured and then all of a sudden they regret their decision.
Not trying to be agressive;
The reason the alliance is straight up stupid, is because of them trying to halt the Rumbling.
If Eren completes the Rumbling, than he can free Ymir and safely get rid of the Power of Titans (so there would be no fighting over titan powers and children eating their own parents anymore)
Honestly the alliance getting so much love from the audience sickens me.
@@DazzerHgnZ3004yet what are the yeageeistvfighting to prevent.
The genocide of their own people. Funny that.
Queue Connie back to the first episode of this season saying how he's tired of being betrayed by his friends. The Alliance are clowns, but Connie is the whole circus.

Ot was better in the manga coz u could see every page in detail, here it's quick cuts with badass music booming lmfao
BTW have the alliance come with a plan yet or or is it still "geNoCiDe BaD" 🤣 ffs this arc is so dumb!
9:15 music choice is trash in theses scene and this not something heroic moment friends and comrades are killing each other it's not heroic it's tragic and horrifying. At least they had basic sense for these scene.

alliance logic:
eren destroying the rest of the world = wrong
the whole world destroying paradis island = understandable
Since when did they ever say the whole world destroying paradis was understandable? Only ones who have shown thinking that was the royal family. They just wanted the rumbling strong enough to deter them from attacking instead of wiping them out entirely jesus people.
@@johanfrere1461 its not dumb its based on their own views not your selfish POV which I actually would want if I was them I would let Eren destroy the world because its the easy choice.
Just for a example: The whole world = 100.000.000 people / paradise Island = 10.000 people. Form the whole world 99.000.000 people are innocent and have nothing to do with it while from paradise island round about 8.000 are soldiers, militaries, politicians or potentially a danger cuz of the turn into a titan. If u see there NO diffrence, i cant help u.. than u are lost.
and thats not even the alliance logic. Everything the scouts where fighting for, was to find the outside world. And NOT to destroy everything. Conny wants to get a soldiers to protect kids and innocent people. Armin is just smart and uses his brain. What would change this, killing the whole world ? Right, a short period of peace. Not more. Do u think this is worth it ?
Chosing erens idea of the world is the dumbest idea ever by floch and the jeagerist... and the fanboys to. How naive people are to believe this would change the everything for ALL time.
@@JT-yl9yt when you say, “deter them from attacking”, who’s “them”? Because the whole world is Paradis’ enemy, so if the Rumbling never happens, then Paradis is getting invaded by every country’s army. Are you suggesting they make the Rumbling strong enough to take out Marley’s military force? Well if that’s the case, then they just proved Marley right: Paradis is bad we must destroy them, then they still got to worry about the rest of the world destroying them.
