I saw a great quote once:
‘Look at size zero runway models and tell me it’s not an industry ran by gay men.’
Because they’re all so slim, have no bust, are encouraged to have short or no hair. Highly androgynous.
two types:
slim no bust, twinks
and
hypermasculine men with huge muscles bulging out...
you gotta remember that original professional "body building" was invented in the late victorian era
where they get all these "muscle men" to get into a private room
take their clothes off
and "Get rated"
by other men...
think about that... who the hell would be interested in doing something like this in the late Victorian era?
other than closet GHEY aristocrats ...
Skinny is ok but absolutely no waist hip curvature and flat chest and flat ass, is grooming straight men to stop finding beauty in the curves a natural woman has. This way when gays get in drag straight men will appreciate gays.
Recently, when I see guys calling women with any amount of womanly features “fat”, I’ve started asking them who they find attractive. So far 3/4 all showed me women almost exactly like that. No chest, thighs, hips, or anything like that. Just a pretty face and long hair.
I think men are getting psy-op’d into homosexuality
@@newdivide9882 Been saying this for years, with the heroine chic body type being introduced in the 90s along with the shaved pubes on those actresses, have trained men's brains through orgasm to prefer, prepubescent/ adolescent male traits on a woman. Just a bunch of men having a giggle.
A right chuckle.
And taking the piss out of each other - it really was a lot of fun, in an uptight, insecure, sensitive world where fun has been sorely missing.
I’ve been complaining about this for almost a decade, glad to see others are sick of this.
A lot of this crap is slowly disappearing. Have you noticed how the feminists have almost stopped complaining about man spreading, and other things? Their fad is dying as they're exposed as cretins.
Not just guys tho, they should have discussed all the old ladies/moms being super heroes and badasses. Or the gross chicks in media presenting roles now. It’s not just guys that can’t have a role model, women too.
Paul Atreides is bad example to decry the current trend because his character is supposed to be small and thin, unassuming.
Also it's not actually about how man looks, but what he does, and Paul can hardly be called twink in that regard
I was going to say this also, I'm pretty sure he's supposed to be like 15 years old or something
@@Lord_Aussem He is, and he's described literally as "small for his age".
The book starts when he's sixteen I think, and ends when he's nineteen. @@Lord_Aussem
Next they'll be complaining that Harry Potter in the movies is short, skinny and has the body of a little boy.
Paul is supposed to be 15 in Dune.
yeah and his description in the book fits him well " a small build, with black hair, "an oval face", "long lashes", "thin nose", and a strong bone structure."
And well trained with weapons and weaponless combat. He’d be muscled at 15.
@@BalrogUdun You can be thin and still muscular. I believe the description is lithe. Really dense and agile muscle, ideal for combat.
If you look at WW2 training footage, everyone is thin and looks malnourished but they were strong because that's how men REALLY look. This beefcake look is modern.
My wife was literally saying the other day that the majority of the male movie stars today are not manly.
It's by design. The book After The Ball talks about this. It's currently out of print.
Same with male singers. When was the last time you heard a popular singer with a baritone voice?

This is probably why most young dudes switched from marvel, DC and Hollywood to manga and anime.
Last i checked, masculinity and heroism was still appreciated in attack on titan, one piece and other shows from the East.
Yes, but male characters in Japanese entertainment are not strong big macular men too.
@@dickiewongtk
Some are, in Fullmetal alchemist, grand blue.
I see your point but since japanese men are quite thin, they prioritize the message of "strength in knowledge, patience, honor, hard work and hidden virtue rather than boisterousness" because of it.
Still leagues better than marvel, DC or Hollywood imo.
@@dickiewongtk Japanese culture tends to hold technique and mastery higher than raw strength. The majority of shonen anime heroes are pretty cut, certainly in excellent physical condition, but you aren't going to find the huge, bulky muscle that you will find in American media. And let's be frank, being huge is not exactly practical anyways, there's a reason why they're called "glamour muscles," they're purely for show. Look at any of the top martial artists in the world and you'll see they're certainly muscular, but not THAT big.
That is not to say such things aren't anywhere in Japanese media. Baki, Jojo, and a lot of older anime that took inspiration from Hollywood macho films of the late 70's into the 80's have plenty of hulking dudes.

Lmao. Y'all just British looking to me, as an American.
Rest of the entire world sees you as Dillon Mulveyneys not lumberjacks.
None of the guys in Lotus Eaters are very masculine themselves though
Henry Cavill and Alan Ritchson are our models for what to have when discussing strong male protagonist
I'm looking forward to their two films releasing in the next 6 months. I've always thought Mr Cavill is greatly under appreciated, as he always gives his everything in each role. And more than that I think he is one of the few actors in the modern day that isn't some sort of narcissist, regularly showing his humility (which funnily enough seems to be a theme with actors permanently residing outside CA)
Alan ritchon? The guy who actually moans about the second amendment and calls for more restrictions, whilst playing characters who use guns

Twinks are player characters below the level cap who have gained the best powerful gear for their level with enhancements such as expensive weapon enchants, leg patches and BoE/BoP greens, blues or epics. Twinks are mainly used in PvP fighting and Battlegrounds.
People that play them are also actual real Twinks.
And they're usually sponsored by a high, usually max level, character of the same player, which is where the term came from.
Especially in the _World of Warcraft_ example, because the only way to acquire much of the gear was with a higher-level character's help... especially before you could turn off experience gain.
"Carl and his merry band of twinks"
Well that's what I'll think of The Lotus eaters as now.
Isn't it funny how toxic masculinity is suddenly popular again, just in time for the conscription call ups.
Heres the thing, chalamet actually works as a Paul Atreides for dune book 1, since he is barely 16-17 in the books.
However, he is a horrible fit for adult/old Paul we will see in future movies, and no ammount of make up is going to give him the phisical characterics that adult Paul has.
@flameguy3416 If they make the sequels, yes, but Paul doesn't become the Wormgod. His son Leto Atredes II becomes the Wormgod.
They are going to wait a few years before making Dune Messiah. TC will look suitably older by then. Paul Atreides is not a muscular looking bloke, that's just not how the character was written. TC is a good choice to play him. Zendya was bang average in the first film the rest of the cast were great
Should have looked more like a lightweight UFC fighter than a twink.
A humble move called 300 is the most amount of Big T energy I have ever experienced.
It's hard to go past a Bruce Willis movie for that pure T energy, although 300 was still pretty solid in that regard.
As a Greek it's a trash movie, yes I know it's from a comic.
I wouldn't call leather underwear Hollywood garbage "big T energy"
Big T energy is evident in good books of historical people that did something worthwhile.
No I'm not fun at parties, I never go 🫠
@kostasbiker9302 It's such trash...and yet, please don't hate me...I love it. Is it historically inaccurate? Oh, for sure. Is it dumb and shouty? Of course! But is it awesome? Yes!
I'm not allowed to use that word in a UA-cam comment, but I remember back in the late 00's when that term was used in the MMORPG community (particularly World of Warcraft) to refer to a low level character created on a high level account, thus benefitting from all the resources that player had accumulated and being able to get through early game easily. Then one day it was used for gay men, and the term disappeared from gaming circles entirely. And it always kind of stuck in my mind that the same word was used for such radically different meanings, and the thought of how they might somehow be linked making me somewhat queasy.
yeah, "my [youtube no-no word] character" has a much different meaning now, especially if you're on a RP server lol
Sorry to burst your bubble, but _WoW_ imported the term from the gay community, where it referred to a young man 'sponsored' by a more experienced member of the community. Hence its use in the MMO sphere.

This episode was a hilarious descent into mischief and madness! I really like this one-casual-day-a-week format where the Lotus Eaters get together in a bigger group, unwind and goof off like this, it's an absolute riot.
I can't really say I learned much from this, except that gay men steal from black women, but it was one of the funniest episodes of the Lotus Eaters yet - I really needed that! :D
Stelios uses all his allowed banter quota in the first 10 minutes, but good golly does he make it quality banter 😂
It’s really hard to banter in another language as you don’t have the same refrences growing up somewhere else but he does it really well.
The Plastic-Manifcation of Everything.
This whole segment is the meme of men getting overly shredded at the gym only to get the attention of other men whilst getting ignored by women.
Timothée Chalamet looks like a Moroccan rent boy. All the charisma and acting talent of a plank of wood.
Not even. In the book he can handle himself against grown and well built men. I assumed he was pretty strong and well bred... Kinda a point of the whole series
Come on who is going to kick Marilyn Monroe out of bed even today, unless I really am a dying breed!
To be fair, Timothée Chalamet’s appearance is actually a very good match for how Paul Atreides is described in the book.
You see Paul as your mind imagines him. Says more about your mind than the book.
He is described to have an oval face shape, just like his mother. His hair is also said to be black and curly which comes from his father, along with the "aquiline facial features". Overall yeah id say the actor is pretty faithful to the character in the book, i think his acting needs a bit of improvement, however. My opinion on Villeneuves adaptation is kinda mixed, im not really sure an adaptation was necessary or needed for Dune to begin with, but we all know hollywood will jump at the chance for easy money from fans of books/movie/shows, ESPECIALLY fans of sci fi/fantasy stuff.
@@templarroystonofvaseywow... What a statement. Capt. Obvious detected.
It’s because teen girls and younger women watch more movies and really don’t tend to be attracted to more rugged guys yet. This is nothing new. Look at Rudolf Valentino.

An episode DEEP in Irony. I don't think I need to point fingers here on the topic of "Twink".
With Paul Atreides, I'm a bit mixed. In the books Paul the book implies that he's very bishie. That said he's a remarkably charismatic and athletic individual, he'd resemble more a swimmer than a body builder, and considering he grew up on a water world and fights relying on speed it makes sense. Not full twink but still you get the idea.
Honestly the skinniness wouldnt be so bad if the characters werent written to be a paradoxical sjw.

"Carl and his merry band of twinks"
I'm not seeing the twink part.
As a woman, there was so much ignorance in this discussion, men still dont know what women want, or how to treat one.
I read Twink & I first thought of Shooty Gatwaa.
As soon as i see either teenagers or weak men as the protagonists i dont even bother because i know what the messaging will be.
i wouldn't mind, if they actually made movies of all genres
where you have masculine characters and effeminate characters
and just let the audience decide...
it becomes a problem where it goes 100% one way and the studios starts shoving it down your throat...
That zinger at the end was great!
Women undoing 'toxic male masculinity' when women still wear male masculine military style dress. HUH. That argument doesn't even work.
Depp was the Chalamet of his day, for good or ill Hollywood loves an "alternatively" attractive male lead. It's increasingly annoying.
Depp was masculine via tattoos and guitar and the facial structure. Before he went gay for Burton he was more butch than half the lotuseaters :)
True, but Depp can pull off playing an intimidating, full-grown man when he wants to. I will be surprised if little Timothy will ever be able to do that.

In fairness Timothee chalamet is a book-faithful Paul Atreides, but your broader point stands
Men can’t help it if they are built lanky, but they can determine the caliber of their character (which is more essential to enduring masculinity). Muscle mass will fade without artifice, but character is for life. The most reliable, masculine men I know are almost all lanky beansprouts, and most of the untrustworthy men I know are beefy.
For the love of all that is holy bring back Steve McQueen! Ok, rant over, thanks to Harry I finally know why Cavill has such small hands, in relation to his body (check it out for yourself, it does look odd) well, no steroids! Just 24/7 in the gym.
