Aksh shares his experiences taking finasteride, a popular hair loss drug, and the persistent side effects he suffers after discontinuation.
Post-Finasteride Syndrome is the current term for a rare syndrome of devastating physical, neurological, and sexual side effects that persist and progress after stopping finasteride. The condition occurs primarily in younger men who have taken the drug to treat hair loss. There is currently no effective treatment for this disease.
PFS has a disastrous impact on patients, their families and their friends. It often causes disability, isolation and suicide. Every person is valuable, and everyone deserves to make a fully informed choice with their health.
More research into Post-Finasteride Syndrome is desperately needed. Learn more about and support important new scientific research here: pfsnetwork.org/donate

Finasteride shouldn't be on the market. No matter how small, the chance of persistent debilitating side effects is unacceptable for a cosmetic treatment. It's ridiculous that patients are not even properly informed about the potential to develop devastating side effects that are untreatable and for all we know can be permanent. I have had side effects for 14 years now.

Since it gets prescribed via dubious websites these days like peppermint dragees, my personal expectation is that this will happen to thousands more of young men over the next years. Unfortunately I don't see any way around this. There won't be a landslide but a slowly growing number of reports which will finally force authorities to act.

@@MrCaradrasi have NEVER met Anyone that can tolerate Finastride. It makes everyone ill. Even though I didnt get PFS it did damage to my ejaulate pressure and while on it. I thought whats the point of sex, then during sex it just went soft. Never happened before. I felt depressed about life. Its absolute posion. Men need DHT like we need to breathe air.

I was on the fence about finasteride but after finding this channel and hearing these testimonials, I’m definitely going to pass. I feel for you guys. I was injured by a different medicine 10 years ago so I’m very skeptical of medication which is why I checked up and found this site.

Same here. Luckily a GP I consulted here in the UK said that he would strongly not advise taking finasteride due to PFS and negative affects of reducing DHT for brain health. I was all set to take it if it were not for him, and then finding this channel.
Like you I had my own health problems caused by medicine which is why I am now extra cautious.
I hope Mike and you guys who are suffering experience some improvement in your symtpoms as time passes by and new drugs are found which may help.

Thank you Mike for sharing your story. You are the most severe case of PFS I have ever heard of. It is truly amazing how variable this disease can be. I am terribly sorry you have to go through this. It is a very evil and corrupt world that we live in where an FDA approved drug is capable of causing such extreme human suffering. I am also a very severe case and can relate to a lot of what you said. Every day for my is like being tossed into a torture chamber and there is never any reprieve. Never in a million years could I imagine that a commonly prescribed drug tolerated by many could cause so much neurological and physical destruction to a select few. I feel like I am living in an alternate reality. That reality being the absolute depths of hell. You are right when you say that nobody could ever come close to imagining what this is like without experiencing it first hand for themselves. I hope you are able to find some improvements. You are extremely strong and resilient for going through what you have. Thanks again for your contributions to the community.

Mike describes the lack of pleasure/reward feelings so well. I had the exact same experience. Almost impossible to describe. This is nothing like low mood at all. It was like having cognitive abilities wholesale ripped out of my mind.

Hey Mitch, I love the work you're doing. Maybe you would be willing to do an interview for our page? We are a community of medically injured folks, mostly of whom were poisoned by MRIs with gadolinium contrast (the contrast dye is a toxic heavy metal that can kill and maim patients but of course, patients are not told this beforehand). There are quite a few people with PFS who end up getting doubly-poisoned by both finasterid and gadolinium. Please reach out if you're interested. Hopefully, we can avoid some PFS sufferers from getting gadolinium poisoining, as well.

This is all so sad. It sounds just like benzo withdrawal where people suffer on them then suffer for years after getting off. I've personally been harmed due to a clueless doctor and now my doc wants me on finasteride for hair loss from being on testosterone therapy for 4 years. I'm a post meno woman. I think I'll pass and just go bald!! Prayers to u both! I have lost all trust in the FDA esp. These last two years.

    Hi Mitch
Any feedback on Dutasteride. Is it also dangerous??

    • @Systemlord30
      @Systemlord30 Рік тому +1

It’s a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor, same as finasteride. It has less side effects but doesn’t mean you won’t get PFS! There’s no such thing as a zero risk 5 alpha reductase inhibitor, even accutane has risks.

    • @tropin_tropin

Some men are self conscious about losing their hair, but please, you don’t need to be. As a woman, I can assure you, women don’t care about men’s hair. Many, if not most, women find bald men sexy. It’s a sign of healthy masculinity.

After all the pfs testimonies, I think a hair system is best. Rather deal with maintenance and tape than side effects
