Yep I noticed a bunch of stoneflies on the rocks and the trout weren't biting. I switched over and put a Pat's rubber leg on and caught fish right off the bat. Thanks for this tutorial
Very nice Tim, think bass will love them as much as trout do! I use this method to put legs on my ant flies. I glue on heavy thread legs and then coat them with a bit of UV resin to stiffen the thread and hold the legs in the positions I want. Hank
EveR since I started tying this pattern a few years ago, it's been a top producer in my fly box anytime I'm fishing water with stones. Also, really liked the legs idea with the Bondic. Cheers
For a virtually tack-free and affordable resin, try Solarez. It comes in thin, thick, and flexible formulas and is available through Hook and Hackle Company and I believe Feather-Craft. You do have to apply resin and deal with a separate torch, however.
Great step-by-step video, love the use of easy hackle pliers for doing the lead wraps, great idea,I coat the hook shank with flex-seal before I tie my lead on seems to hold it in place better.
Really clever idea. I did discover however you can't do this with silicone legs. Probably should have known because I use silicone spatulas for glueing up woodworking projects. Still, great idea for other materials
The resin and torch are combined in one pen-like tool, which is very handy. It is called Bondic and is widely available both in brick and mortar stores and online.
Would a traditional "hot glue gun" be enough to hold the flexi on there? It's just for the initial hold job, and seems like a more economical approach. (since I don't have the uv glue)
I don't understand the point of tying in the antenna the length of the hook shank, and the tails half the length. On the natural, the tails are longer. I did notice you trimmed the antenna at the end, but still at least as long as the tail. Wouldn't it make more sense to get the length of the antenna right from the start?
Great video and instruction. Thank you. I will tie some up using this method. Unfortunately, I do not have UV light but will try with superglue instead. Thank you for posting

Guide style is the way to roll here. Thanks TLV.
As a new fly tier, your vids have made the learning curve so much faster and less frustrating, not to mention less expensive! Thank you
Seriously I have spent so much money because of you😂. Fly tying is so addictive.
I hear you. $5 here $10 there.
Yep. More than 70 bucks to tie a copper john 😐
There are lot of good tying chanells, but your is the best for any grade tier. Thank you very much for all your effort and work.
Best and easiest way to tie this fly. Thanks!!
Tim thanks for this video. I love the technique for the rubber legs!
That is a really awesome fly! I can see this working for some wasp flies.
Thanks for the awesome new way to tie in thelegs!
Really like the UV idea for attaching legs, I can see myself incorporating this in other designs, thanks for sharing this.
That's a great tip for tying the rubber legs, thanks for that.
I've never seen such a method. Cool!
Wow! Pretty slick. Much better than cussing at the rubber legs! Thanks.......
Nice video! I always love the fly tying videos! Keep em coming!! And keep up the good work

I tie a lot of flies with rubber legs and I like the uv glue trick. Thanks.

The UV resin is an awesome technique.
Absolutely ingenious way to secure the legs!
Nice one good , like the way you do the legs
Really clever idea. I did discover however you can't do this with silicone legs. Probably should have known because I use silicone spatulas for glueing up woodworking projects. Still, great idea for other materials
As usual, a great video. If I need to learn how to tie a fly I always return to your channel. :)
Splendid video, as always!
Can you tie a bumble bee? I enjoy learning from your video since you say everything you use an give tip since i am new to tying
That is awesome!
Very easy pattern. Tell about your resign and UV torch setup, please!

Thanks! Will give it a look.
Tim, what is the UV applicator/light you use in this video?
Where did you get your UV torch with the cement on the other side? I cannot find one like that.
Very SWEET !
If I don't have the UV resin and torch, could I use drops of zap-a-gap instead?

What kind of bobbin do you use?
Half Hitch Mag by Rite Bobbin. Tapered stainless tube, nice weight in hand and adjustable thread tension, works great.
+tightlinevideo thanks!!
That pen that you use is awesome!!! Where can I get one? I cant find it anywhere. Thanks for the video.
Ace Hardware had one the other day
Great idea except my Life Flex leg material won't bind w if cement. I'll try real rubber.
Well I'll be darned...not buying these when I go out west this year lol
Thanks a lot. Good video.
i have met the guy that made this fly. he lives near my uncle.
muito bom..
Awesome 666th like 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Great video and instruction. Thank you. I will tie some up using this method. Unfortunately, I do not have UV light but will try with superglue instead. Thank you for posting
This is like common core math why are you making such an easy fly so complicated
