      CherryCyanideHD my brother had a 1972 Plymouth Cud’a 340 c.i. in 1975 and our cousin had a 1970 Chevelle SS 396.

I was at a Caffeine & Octane yesterday and there was a '70 Nova 396/375 , 4sp with 15K MILES - family car. The guy's uncle bought it new, he died and it was store in the grandmother's barn for years. He wasn't sure of the rear end ratio, "pretty low, rpm 4K at 70". Had a book with window sticker and best of all the speeding tickets his uncle had gotten when driving the car. Absolutely incredible.

I had 4 door versions of these cars at different times and they were both great.
You couldn't kill the Dart -- bought it new and finally sold it with 125k after the auto transmission got cranky. Slant 6.
Bought the Nova for $1000 from a little old lady in suburban Chicago who'd only put 30k on it over 6 years. I drove it another 70k over the next 6 years, by which time the body was rusting away, the windshield leaked, the knob on the shifter fell off, several heater controls had snapped off in the cold weather and the trunk started to smell bad because the emergency blanket and towels back there would soak up the roadspray that came in thru the rust holes. But it would not die! Sold it for $200.
The brother/ sister act is truly bizarre. But I love the groovy send-off party.

My mom bought a new '75 Dart Sport off the showroom floor. She also thought about buying a new Plymouth Arrow but the rest of the family voted it out! (so glad we did)The Dart was the fastback model like the Demon. It was loaded. Had a 318 and a 4-speed on the floor. No console, but bucket seats. It was black with a black interior, half vinyl roof and had a flat black stripe the went down the side and over the roof. It had the Rally Wheels. I remember the right side torsion bar became weak or something and the car always leaned to the right. I also remember the "check EGR" light would flash every so often. In 1980, my friends and I skipped school on St. Patricks Day and went into the city (Cleveland, Ohio) for the parade. We drove the Dart. I remember doing 110 mph down I90 with 5 of us in the car. It was a fun day. I miss the Dart. We sold it a few years later..I wish I knew what happened to it

The spring pin was already broken. He had it fixed but the shop recommended multi leafs with the reinforced center mounting pin. He did so and drove it until the trans went out in 83. Other than that, it was a pretty decent car. I worked at a spring/chassis shop in the late 80s, and we still saw Novas with broken pins come in.

    MOPAR ALL THE WAY BABY!!!
53 AND SINCE I LIKED REAL CARS ( 8 YEARS OLD)
45 YEARS IVE BEEN A BUYER, RACER, AND BUILDER FOR BIG BLOCK , 727 TORQUEFLIGHT , 904, 340 AND EVEN A STRONG 318 BUILD ( 450 HP) NO KIDDING. WHEN I WAS YOUNG, 318s were bulletproof engines that were great for daily driving or 275,000 miles or more! Not racing.
Now, the last 10 years or so
They have builds as much as 525.
I dont, not sure about that but 450 is strong and 1 that i built, the first 8 yrs ago has hit the 1/4 1000 times and its a great daily driver to.

I really enjoy these old videos.
I've noticed Dodge brags how they have full instrumentation on their cars, which is how it should be.
But sometime between then and my 2010 Challenger RT Classic they lost their way. My RT Classic has limited gauges, which has always bugged me as a major cheap out.
True, ownership isn't the same. But legacy should remain.

Certain dealers offered 383 and even 440 Darts and Dusters in 70, like Grand Spaulding in Chicago, after Chrysler officially dropped those engines from the factory option list. They also offered 6 pack induction through certain dealers through 72 on 340s. What I will say is that SB Novas handled quite well with the optional HD suspension package.. so much so, that they were the cars to beat ( in their class) in MSP tests through 79.

The Dodge Demon could also be bought with a slant 6 as well . I looked into those not long ago because I had a chance to buy one that was a drag car from the 80s set up with a full tube chassis tubbed & had a built 12:1 413 max wedge with a Dominator & full race prepped 727 that was running in the 9 s back then all engine no power adders & I found out they could be optioned with a leaning tower of power or the hillside Hemi lol . It had wheelie bars on the back but you could see grind marks in the lower rear bumper from it doing wheelies without the wheelie bars lol . The guy wanted 5 grand for the car but it was pretty rough from sitting a lot of years in a barn so I had no idea if it even ran or if it was actually a real 413 Max wedge engine or not being this guy did a trade for it to restore another Mopar this guy with the Demon had . Had no title & was strictly a drag car pretty much & I wanted something I could pro street & drive on the streets & Hiways so I passed on it !

Was a falling down junk in 5 years. Traded it for a 76 swinger. The 76 was one of the first with catalytic converter and was way worse than the 71. All the rust and a crappy running engine. Chrysler legacy.

Greg the Hemi dart could only be bought for drag racing as a factory drag car special order only that couldn't be driven on the street because it was a full 12:1 race Hemi & the car came with no title or a VIN number ! It even came with a decal stating competition only ! They did have a 440 option as well that was done by another source for Dodge but we're very rare & you could buy the 69 383 Dart GTS which are rare as well ! I know someone who has one a 383 4 spd car that's restored in very nice original condition ! Those Hemi Darts & the 69 BO29 Hemi fastback Barracudas were the very first factory drag cars built & were a terror on the drag strips back then but I think they only made about 50 of them if I remember most being sold to factory race drivers & some dealerships that raced . They have there own class for those very same cars now with some of them running low 8s old school carburetors & manual transmission which is neat as heck ! Check them out on UA-cam here in the SS/A & SS/B classes if I remember or just type in 68 factory Hemi Dart drag car or 69 BO29 Hemi fastback Barracuda & stuff will show up !
