That's what I was thinking. In a pot that big I would have added at least 4/5 wicks. Marantas are really good growers and I feel they need alot more water then what one string can give
The plant will not decide how much water to take up and live unaffected. It could just be sitting in water if you use too much water once it's had enough which can lead to root rot. I like self-watering pots too but that's not how plants work.
I'm pretty sure you want the wick to be longer and travel through more of the soil

Please show us how this plant looks in a month! Im thinking more wick may be needed
Absolutely love your idea. The cleanest and easiest I have seen so far.
How does this water the plant? The wick is so small
Using a dollar tree plastic bowl is far less expensive as that target bowl is $25
Great idea! Thank you for sharing
Awesome 👍
For me self watering pots are a must for my marantas.. Didn't realize how big they can get. Thanks for this diy inspiring me thinking out of the box 🪴
OMG…love this idea!!
That’s look sooo good!
We’re did you purchase wicks ❤

FABULOUS!
Nice one! Love that's a diy, now I can do the best with some second hand pots
I love it!
Very cute 🥰
Dude! Super brilliant
This makes no sense. The whole wic cannot be in the bottom. No way to get the plant the amount of water needed
Exacly my thoughts
Es una excelente idea, funciona? Alguien lo ha probado?
Same
Lo quiero probar pero que tipo de hilo y en los comentarios dice que el hilo debe ser más largo y más largo entre la tierra.
I think it's never going to work but you do whatever you whant i guess 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks Beautiful lady
I love the idea and look but you should have looked farther for plastic or ceramic pots. No matter how well you sealed them wood will deteriorate. 🪴❤️
I've read from experts that self watering pots are not a good idea to use. Just sayin....
