      if u watch what Margito did post fight in cotto fight he was hugging people, celebrating, had his arms around people and didn’t look the least bit concerned. Even the referee raised his arm up with the wrap on. I find it hard to believe that no one noticed it was loaded. I don't like margarito at all. But it wasn't proven that he cheated against cotto. Margarito beat him fair and square.

    Thanks for making a Miguel cotto breakdown. I been asking you tubers and hoping there would be more on Miguel cotto. He is my favorite pro fighter and I was bummed out when he retired, I still felt he has more in him and I am an amateur boxer myself for about 13 years and I started watching Miguel cotto fights as a film study because my style is similar to his. I always thought of Mike Tyson as my all Time favorite but as I watched cottos whole fight career he became my favorite fighter and I learned alot from his fights. I use alot of things he does even if I have to do it "my way" because my style may be similar but no 2 fighters fight the same. So alot of what he does I learn ,practice, and molded it to my style. I've been all over UA-cam looking for all I can learn from him. Not much is out on him except I have found his whole career fight by fight Playlist uploaded to UA-cam so that was a game changer for me I could pull up every fight pause, rewind, and forward the videos as I needed to to film study.
    But by film studying his fights made him grow on me and he became my favorite fighter.
    Thanks for the awesome video

    Outstanding breaking. As a very dedicated and serious competitive boxer that trains relentlessly (that is me), I consider Miguel Cotto as the best Puerto Rican boxer of all time
    🥊💖🇵🇷. I agree that Cotto’s victories against Zab Judah and Sergio Martinez are two of his greatest fights. Also, he outboxed Shane Mosley as well. In my opinion, Miguel Cotto’s victories against Judah, Martinez, and Mosely are his best performances. Since I’m a southpaw/switch hitter boxer, my favorite Cotto victory was against Zab Judah. When Cotto put Judah against the ropes, he would switch to southpaw and land vicious body punches on Zab Judah. Thank you for this excellent breakdown. 😎🔥🥇

    I’ve always felt Ryan Garcia should look to train with Cotto at some point. Not that they have similar styles but both fighters best punch is the lead left hook. Ryan could improve his jab and footwork but most of all learn to keep that chin tucked by mimicking Cotto a little.

    • @JazminDiaz01

      @domtoretto5887 10 місяців тому

      To be honest I feel that cottos style differs from that of Garcia by a lot. Also that left hook is something that Ryan Garcia uses too much and he should rather train on being just as good with his other punches and fundamentals over all.

      @@acetofresh1 well yeah, I own well over 8000 fights on dvd and a good 2000 vhs, gave up when UA-cam was in its second decade. Still I own fights that may never see the light of day again maybe. I adore the old days when boxing became huge and carried on like that until this day. The 20's up until ww2 were great, my 5 favourites being Joe Louis, ike Williams, Archie Moore, sugar Ray Robinson, gene tunney, the archie Moore v Yvonne durrell fight is in my top 10 fights of all time. Watch these men and realise how great they are, gene tunney went 68-1, a great mover with good skill and reasonable power, at the time he was a new wonder. There are many other greats like dempsey who were superstars of their time who would draw huge crowds, dempsey done a one hundred thousand outdoor fight in the 20's. I could go on all night but hey. Please checkout these lost names. I have many fights from lots of careers, my favorite vids to Watch are that of the old black and white days, it started over 40yrs ago where my grandad would get me to watch boxing with him and showing me some old footage on old replays on vhs. I am 44 in October and I honestly pride myself on my knowledge and hugely respect the sport. I even drank in the pub of the great Bob Fitzsimmons in Helston, the 1st middle lightheavy and heavyweight champ and it took 108yrs to replicate and done by the great Roy Jones Jr by beating ruiz. Damn I'm banging on but yeah I have rare fights, like Jorge paez coming into the ring in a wedding dress. Hahahahahaha. Peace mate.

    Cotto wasn't knocked out in the Olympics and especially not in the first round. Just lost but got his revenge by the fighter quitting in the pros against him. Great video by the way. Thank you because I feel that most boxers today more than likely don't use or even know cotto because of how strong the boxing culture can be, borderline racist especially with fans, but guess I'm lucky to be puerto Rican but also love and respect boxing so much that I still use floyd as my overall way of boxing and fighting, but whenever a dude wants to get funny with me, I switch to cotto and it's amazing because I quickly shut all their efforts down by staying tight, blocking all those shits and making it seem like they're nothing while literally just intimidating them with my cool presence and the cotto style alone is enough to intimidate any fighter to the ropes because it's efficient in not wasting energy, beautiful defense and amazing acting(poker faces). Cottos face is not the face you want to have in front of you when you're on the ropes. I'd rather have Tyson or GGG, but cotto is so smart that you know he won't be wasting shots and anything that touches you will hurt. Cotto vs Sosa is a great example of that. Because if you watch Floyd vs Sosa you see a different look in Sosa. Also, he had the most dangerous left to the body the world has ever seen. Tyson was a monster, but cotto didn't have to try too hard, but if he did, you could basically kiss your liver goodbye. The attitude he uses to hit you with that hook is the attitude all fighters needed to have for ALL their shots.

    Round 9 vs Mayweather is never talked about and it was the round where Cotto really hurt Mayweather. I always thought that if he had followed thru he might have had a chance of beating the MoneyMan.

    Thank you so much! boxing life guidelines for looking out for my own favorite fighter Miguel cotto, one of the best if not the best! I truly believe in my heart that they are very underrated for some "odd" reason! anyway I'm not going to get into that right now... I would like as a Puerto Rican myself who had a couple of amateur fights to take my hat off to you for shining a light over Miguel cotto look like lol m on and his exciting and illustrious career I just subscribed to your channel and gave you a thumbs up with a like God bless and Godspeed to you and yours🎉😊

    Cotto was the only boxer to give a tough fight for Mayweather. I believe that if he just kept throwing power punches to Meyweather esp when his back was on the rope he could've won that fight.

      If the fight happened prior to the Margarito assault, Cotto would have won.

    If he wasn’t forced to drain himself to 145 and STAY at 145, cotto would have stopped manny Pac-Man in 2009. The reason they forced him to that weight is because they knew what would happen if he rehydrated. Floyd Mayweather Jr said out of his own mouth that this man was the toughest and craftiest man he ever fought. A man who forced mayweather to actually adjust to adjustments floyd made mid fight.

      The Margarito assault/loss was a setup by Bob Arum for Cotto to be at a disadvantage at negotiations with Pacquiao. Arum was the promoter for both Cotto and Pacquiao. An undefeated No.1 pound for pound Cotto would have never had to go back down in weight against that steroid using midget. He would have beat the brakes off of Pacquiao.

    Top 3 of his generation, just behind 1. Floyd and 2. Pacquiao.
    Can't even imagine how much better we would have been with proper coaching right off the bat, no severe car accident destroying his Right arm and lastly, not getting beaten down by Margaritto's loaded plaster-paris gloves.

    4:26: HOT TAKE: Cotto Would've beaten Pacman if he went with Steward earlier instead of Santiago. Steward gave him a very good footwork and started to jab a lot more. Also, Cotto was rumored to be dehydrated at that fight.

    • @MrEliasdl
      @MrEliasdl 8 місяців тому

      He was a greater boxer than both. Bob Arum just couldn't get over his beef with Mayweather for leaving and chose to elevate Pacquiao by derailing Cotto.
