What is going on at Mount Mayon is quite interesting. However since I was unable to verify the exact specifics, I outlined each possibility. I still am a bit suspicious about the presence or absence of lava, however. As for why I uploaded this video so late, there was this weird UA-cam glitch that demonetized entire channels for no apparent reason. I waited for that to be fixed before uploading today’s video.
Wow. Yesterday while uploading a video on my laptop, drinking morning coffee, and listening to music on my phone through UA-cam, I clicked on a Phish song and this pop up comes up over the screen, all white, stops the song from playing. It said that a video I made reading a scientific study about a bean from the NIH's site was removed from UA-cam as medical misinformation. This message literally says "your content (the name of the NIH study, but not the rest of my video title with my name) has been removed as medical misinformation." So I did laugh at the time but was also quite pissed. I appealed it and it got denied faster than a human could have watched it. I actually got a response from UA-cam on twitter and they asked for my video link but it's not there anymore so I uploaded it onto Rumble and sent them a link to that. Imagine right now, the UA-cam twitter support team watching me read an NIH study... on Rumble! I can now at least watch and comment on videos and play music on UA-cam but I'm still banned from uploading for a week. Also I can't upload onto bitchute but I think it's there problem, so I guess I'm a "Rumbler" for a week now! Maybe my channel was affected by what you're talking about but my channel isn't monetized right now, UA-cam has monetized my channel and demonetized it for times since 2010 and never sent me a check
I'm catching up on vids,,but yes,, quite a few have been de- monetized.. sad,,but unfortunately true,,too much police -ing,on information...truth hurts, and the only way for them, they,to retaliate,,lol . ty much,,
PHIVOLCS is notoriously unreachable with their communication channels except for felt earthquake events where they provide a hotline. They need to be in contact with the public more.
@@SpaceLover-he9fj Not really due to that. There are quite a number of studies publicly available. It's just that there is little funding for the study of volcanoes aside from the most active ones.
Good work bro. Proof that networking together as a community accomplishes things volcanologists could only dream of 20 years ago. This will definitely contribute to improving early warning capability now and for the foreseeable future.
I can't stop watching your videos!! So great work! Coukd you tell us why are there so many volcanoes and craters in both costs of the Red Sea, and the sismic activity of the area? Thank you so much for your work.
I think he partly explains it in his video called The Active Volcano in Saudi Arabia; Harrat Rahat. The Red Sea is an extension of the East Africa Rift Zone.
2:33 what imagery are you using? I would assume that Sentinel or Landsat would work reasonably well as they are both multispectral 10 m and sampled every week or so.
Mount Mayon is an active volcanic mountain located in the Philippines. That I have to put this here... Makes me shake my head at all the wonderful work you did.
Just the look of it I feel like that if it does have a serious eruption it could possibly be a Mount saint helens eruption. Also I wanted to ask you if you could do a video about the eruption shown in the rings of power show on Amazon? Mainly focusing on if it’s at all realistic or possible to course an eruption like that.
Very good, I like the informed speculation. Every time I asked...however, likely because, but what if, your answer to my comments came right after. Thank you for making me feel I have a grasp on the subject. In the last 3 years I've learned a lot about a subject that is dear to my heart. Thanks for being here, and sharing. 68 on my birthday!!!
I was full concerned with taal when phivolcs recorded their PH level as 0.76, whilst feburary was at 1.56 PH level. although alert level 1 was recorded at taal during this time, whilst during 2021 (when the PH level was counted) Phreatic explosions only happened during July 1st, (even if it was alert level 2) what was the cause?
My mother-in-law lives in Legazpsi, I asked her if all is safe. She laughed and said worry to much and then complained no grand-babies. So guess it's normal to them.
I know it's old very cool if you made a video on how the Mark West Creek and summit county went from almost dry to flowing after the earthquake in Santa Rosa. That seems really interesting on how that happened
although they aren't connected, I still think that this is an ideal topic to discuss for as i noticed that during the regime of taal's activity, the frequency of eruptions for mayon/year is decreased significantly. it seems that mayon is following that trend again because during the consecutive series heightened unrest of taal volcano by 1965-77, mayon on its part only erupted once in 66'.
Yesterday I saw a simulation on UA-cam of the formation of the moon when a Mars-sized object struck the young Earth. According to the simulation part of the earth along with part of space object flew off the somewhat enlarged earth to form the moon. The question I hope to have answered is: is that Mars-sized object now known as Thetis and do any remains of Thetis exist in the Earth’s geologic record. If so, where? I think the simulation came from NASA.
The Theia hypothesis is the current working hypothesis for the generation of the Earth-Moon system. The impact is very early in Earth's history and would have melted whatever solid surface existed before the impact. Any mantle/crust Theia would have had is now mixed with Earth's mantle, and any core (iron-nickel) that Theia had is now merged with Earth's core.
I would have thought that because of the low number of earthquakes, that there would not have been much activity as I would have thought that the pressure would still cause earthquakes
Just hiding spoilers for The Rings Of Power below the expand, but I have a question … … … … … Do you have thoughts on the plausibility of the events triggering the eruption of mount doom as depicted in the show? A dam is breached and the reservoir is channeled to empty into the magma chamber (?), resulting in an explosive eruption. I see a lot of people saying “oh that’s totally unrealistic” and it’s certainly not something that has ever happened to my knowledge, but I see you talking about water being a component that adds to explosively, so if we suspend the disbelief about setting up this sequence of events, if you did manage to flood a chamber with that much water, would it explode like we see?
I think it’s plausible. Mgma interacting with water can produce several types of volcanic eruptions, including but not limited to Phreatic, phreatomagmatic and Surtseyan eruptions. One eruption from the Taupo supervolcano, the Hatepe eruption, was very violent, partially due to water interacting with magma!

Sounds like a normal day on UA-cam to me. Glad you weren't effected

We are graced to be in the loop of geologic science as it happens. Thanks.
Yeah
I once had a trip to legazpi city long ago when the mayon last erupted. The glowing red lava is so beautiful to look at from afar.
It gets even more beautiful when Mayon has a lava fountain.
PHIVOLCS is notoriously unreachable with their communication channels except for felt earthquake events where they provide a hotline. They need to be in contact with the public more.
Very true. Maybe that’s one reason why the volcanoes of the
Philippines, except for a few, have almost nothing known in their history?
@@SpaceLover-he9fj Not really due to that. There are quite a number of studies publicly available. It's just that there is little funding for the study of volcanoes aside from the most active ones.
OK, but I still think the somewhat numerous volcanoes in the Philippines need more studies.

I really like your videos, can you do a video on the Navajo Volcanic field? I dont see any vids covered on the field. Its super interesting.

Is there a possibility of Mayon’s summit lava dome collapsing?

Why are you repeating something we were already told? 🙄
Finally! Fresh lava is so much better tasting than the stale stuff.
I thought perhaps the Mayon volcano burped and brought up some old stuff.
Either way lava is very spicy and can burn your tongue so enjoy it in moderation😝😝😝
Stale stuff can include rhyolite, in a way. That definitely isn’t tasteless!
Very beautiful volcano. Thanks for sharing. 🌋🙂

Apparently the volcano on easter island erupted, causing a fire. But other sources say it was arson. Can anyone find any information on this?

I wonder if there are Old Volcanoes in New York State?
There are. The ones I’m immediately aware of are flood basalts in the SE corner and older hotspot chain volcanism (both long extinct) in the east
