  • Howdy! I am Christi from Little Salty Homesteader, and in this video, I am starting seeds for my 2025 Spring/Summer North Texas Vegetable Garden. Today’s seed starting is peppers & eggplants!

    I am using the Foxfarm Ocean Forest. It worked well for me last season. Remember to set the lights about 2 to 3 inches above the plants to keep them from getting leggy. If the leaves turn down, the lights are too close. If leaves reach upward, the lights are too far away. Most people have the lights too far away. Good tip on removing the humidity dome after seeds germinate. Many people leave it on and get fungal and bacterial diseases such as damping off because the air is too humid. I do not have a heat mat but probably should, esp for peppers.
