Good information for entrepreneurs not us employees ,sometimes we work hard and not get rewarded people taking advantage of the current job market crisis to exploit us.

I think we forget that people learn & reform. Those we get rid off do sometimes learn from that bitter experience & grow to become better people. Therefore, your competitors are not necessarily getting a bad performer but a refined performer.

It is old school corporate America. We have evolved from that. The no longer fitting element is someone we missed to engage in our change of direction. This is what we are accountable for when leading an organisation. We have to be accountable for leaving someone behind or for having mistakenly hired someone who was not right for the purpose. Firing is more of a shortcut and not a proof of taking responsibility for our own actions.
After all, it's just a matter of leadership style.

      Tania Good Morning
I delight in another perspective you present. Vusi did make a point that you must engage with such a person(s) prior and avail whaterver interventions. However your point raises awareness that we are accountable at Inputs points prior parting ways. In a way Accountabillity to all points. Your point calls on commitment and know results you want upfront. Thanks

Hi I admit that I went to the motivational programs that you offer. I am very happy because I met you via the Internet, I benefited a lot because relationship marketing is new to me as a practice for me. I work as a teacher, but the world of marketing amazed me, for me

Great advise on moving people on bra Vusi. It should probably be prefaced by going through a process to understand the reason for non performance and some coaching. We don't want to send the message that we are crap managers, but we will fire you for it.

Especially if their values and mission are aligned. The person that you are letting go is not necessarily a bad performer....could simply be a case of misalignment of values and direction.

We can’t determine that thinking it’ll make it worse if they move over. They will only tell of your strategic operations and sales to your competitor.

You could equally be exposing yourself to stronger competitive forces Vusi. I remember how Strive Masiyiwa ventured into mobile telephony. It was because he was regarded as no fit to the strategic direction of Zimbabwean's Posts and Telecoms. By letting him go the PTC created monster competition for their organisation. My view is that you need strong and divergent leadership....out of the box and sometimes unorthodox leaders who are brave enough to challenge the status core..and divergence should therefore be integral part of that healthy mix.....not just yes yes man.....be interest to know your thoughts on that need for balance to sustain and at times reinvigorate growth.

    Dear Mr. Vusi
I dare to call myself your budding prodigy. It is always an opportunity to learn something vital wherever I tune into your podcasts.
Today’s lesson is particularly vital because it takes root in the scripture, “Bad company corrupts good manners”. It’s really good to see and know that we need to treat organizations in like manner.
But there are a few statements you made on this episode that I believe to be quite questionable.
You said and I quote, “You’re only as good as your last day, your last performance, your last performance quota. You’re only as good as last deliverable in the organization”
Pardon my arrogance, but permit me to disagree. What happens to every other day you put in effort, commitment and skill? What happens to all the achievements made directly from your actions?
How can someone’s last day dictate his or her eventual legacy?
    This question deeply troubles me.
I actually delayed sending this comment in for an entire two weeks, and then coincidentally your next podcast was on FEAR.
