かつて、霊峰の麓に折り重なるように広がる古き良き村があった。
その村の中心には、神秘的な力を宿す古絵巻が祀られている小さな神社が鎮座する。
封印された絵巻には、伝説の鬼神「閻魔」が宿っていると囁かれ、禁断の力を求める不届き者が後を絶たない。
月詠神社の末裔である白狐一族は、代々この絵巻を守護する使命を受け継いできた。今代の守護者は、麗しき少女「焔華（ほのか）」。
焔華にとって、侵入者の排除は造作もない日常。手慣れた仕事の１つのはずだった。
ある晩、雷鳴と共に謎の侵入者が神社を襲い、古絵巻の封が解かれてしまう。
封じられた鬼神との出会いが、少女の未来を大きく変えることになるのであった────。
