- Charlie's final appearance, Max meets with Charlie for a final time and offers him money to never contact Jack again. Max threatens Charlie he will have a visit from some violent thugs if he doesn't agree to the arrangement. Charlie tells Max deep down he has nothing, and leaves for good.

Really sad Charlie's now left! Going to miss him. Great final scenes though and a fitting conclusion to see him finally get his son back. Can't believe Max has forced him to cut off all contact. Poor Dot will think Charlie's just like his dad.

We need a backstory into Maxs time at prison! That way we can fully understand how he became so evil! I bet he got involved in lots of prison fights. At the end Max was 50% close to breaking down so maybe something awful happened to him in prison!
alexloukopoulos You are right the writers are not explaining why Max wants revenge. We know he did not kill Lucy Beale but the writers need to do a better job explaining his motivation.
Hes not eveil he got betrayed by his so called family and friends so hes getting revenge thers no back story to it

SilentKiller55 does that mean Matthew is gone for good too? I mean there's really no reason for Matthew's reappearance since his dad's with him gone forever, and his mother's dead. Perhaps years later, he goes to find his grandmother like Bradley did and reunite lol, if dot's still alive. But I'm glad charlie got what he wanted and is far away from walford with his son, i liked his character from the off and I wanted him to be happy with Ronnie so bad, but they fucked that up and I stopped watching, haven't picked it up since but I'm vaguely aware of what's going on now from watching clips and reading things. Max deserves to be evil after people who knew that bobby killed Lucy stitched him up. Hmu when max goes after the beales. But I'm glad they didn't kill charlie off or anything, the cotton clan lives on in Matthew so they really could have killed charlie off, but I'm glad they didn't. I liked his character too much to accept that. I also loved Bradley back on '06 but they fucking killed him off, no hope of him coming back, and that fucked me off cos there was nothing more epic than Bradley and Stacey's relationship. Stacey and Martin can fuck off, they don't come close. Bradley is Stacey's epic love and always will be. Anyway lol, I'm ranting but yeah glad charlie got his son and sailed off towards the sunset. Ronnie fucked his character up in a way, he was completely normal and relaxed before her. But they also were so cute together, and yes he made a couple of mistakes with Roxanne and shit but still. I've really gone off Max in recent weeks. He has been a weasel and has done Jack dirty. Yeah I know Max feels betrayed by Jack for trying not to prevent him going to prison, but he was the main suspect and nobody would've thought that he wouldn't do it. Eastenders are currently portraying Max as a hardman, which isn't all that believable as I've never seen the evidence of him being a tough guy.
I get that Max would want to take revenge on Ian & Jane, maybe even Jack and his daughters, but why the Vic? Mick and then lot didn't do anything to Max. In fact Jack didn't really do anything either ... which is kind of the reason why Max is taking revenge on Jack. He turned his back on him

That Max Branning is such a bully, just like Phil Mitchell but worse. Funny enough, Max and Phil are both bald though. Other difference is Max is slimmer where as Phil has a beer belly.
