My sons gifted me a Yaesu FH-2 remote controller for my Yaesu FTdx10. I already had the one that came with my Yaesu FTdx5000MP, as an included accessory. In this video I unbox the FH-2, explain its usefulness, and I show it in action.

Yearly S7 (Executive) members can receive one menu optimizations PDF while yearly S9 (VIP) members can receive multiple menu optimizations documents, plus my FT8 configuration guide for either the FTdx10 or the FT-710 AESS. I have used one forever. Love it. It sure saves your voice chasing DX or POTA/SOTA.
My FTdx5000 came with one. But they don’t include it even with the FTdx101 now.
Thanks for the video Doug. I have had the remote for a few months but have not used it. I think it's time to open it up : ) Thanks, Jim
Glad you liked it James.
I use my FH-2 with my FTdx101 and before that my FTdx3000. It’s great for CW and SSB contests. I have standard info in the different memories and I just press a button, it saves my voice and speeds up CW contacts as well.
Indeed, it’s such a great tool.
Hi Doug,
Bought my FH-2 from AliExpress when they had it for $45. I like having five memories each for CW and SSB. 73 WJ3U
Don, that’s a great price.
Brilliant explanation might get one for my FT2000 looks more than just an extension of the numeric key pad
Great videos . De M0JFE
Glad you liked it, John. 73, Doug
Great information, Doug. 73!
Thanks, Wendell!
A simple but effective device. Other companies might have charged a lot more than Yaesu do.
It is indeed handy. I could use the menu to transmit the messages but pressing a button is much easier.
I’ve been using one forever during my POTA activations with my FT-710

It sure makes operating a breeze.
Thanks for the video, what do the other buttons do?
You can use them to record the messages. Don’t worry. The manual explains it.
Hola.... Acabo de comprar uno, y no se muy bien para que. Una pregunta.... ¿En un FT 891 se puede usar como teclado numerico?. DE EC7AA.
The FH-2 is used to trigger the message memories. Five TX messages can be stored in an FT-891. You can store 5 for CW and 5 for voice modes.
It's so weird that a keypad like this cannot be used to enter frequency directly.
The FH-2 only has numbers 1 through 5, corresponding to the 5 message memories. However, if you tap the last 3 digits in the frequency display, you get an onscreen keypad, for direct entry of frequency via the touchscreen.
Gee, I always thought BK was “Break”
Ha!
