Compared to the Play Arts Kai one, I'm going to have to say the SPRUKIT looks better in terms of proportions and how accurate it looks compared to the Chief in Halo 4. Spartan's (especially Spartan 2's) aren't smaller and slim looking like that.
Well worth the $55. This is the best Master Chief figure I own.

I been so busy building Gundam kits that I didn't even know bandai did this. I just bought one off amazon. Maybe bandai isn't so bad after all. I would love to see more level 3 Spartan models from them. I love a master grade or even better, a perfect grade

yup he is one awesome figure the good thing is that you can paint all the parts if you want is just a very good figure.

The leg joints on mine broke and had to put a paper clip to hold the legs together. The wrists are loose as well. Use carefully.

Customized mine, made it look great. Get some black shoe polish (the thicker one in the tin can) and cover the parts of the armor with it and use a decent amount using a small paintbrush. Then, wipe off the shoe polish with a paper towel. What's left should stay in the cracks and give a nice weathering affect. Then, go back over it all again with more shoe polish, this time only a small amount so it has the weathering in the cracks and lines and then the smaller amounts of polish on the rest of the armor. For the nicks and scratches, use a silver sharpie and cover small corners and ledges in the armor. Do this throughout the whole thing. Once the sharpie dries, go over it with some shoe polish to the point where you can see it still, but not as much. For the big scratch in his chest, I filled it with black sho polish and went over it with a layer of sharpie, but leaving small gaps where you can still see the black underneath. What you get is an awesome master chief fig that's better than the play arts kai ones imo and less expensive. Check my instagram @how_to_marvel for pics.

Now that you've seen what Bandai can do with spruce kits, do you think you might be tempted to buy some Gundam kits?
I think you'd be impressed,especially with the higher end models, but even the high grades are good too.

Agreed. The Real, High, and Master Grade kits are entirely worth getting. Amazing Kits, but no good as toys or action figures.

I love these SpruKits Chiefs, they are awesome if you're willing to paint them. I did and mine looks really cool, I'm thinking about making another and adding a cloak like from the Halo 5 trailer.

I got it today for 5 dlls,
I actually bought because first it is a model kit from bandai, second is master chief , third is almost 9 " tall and finally I'm want to get into gunpla and finally build a Perfect grade Gundam.
Just wondering, did you have any issues with the shoulder ball joints being kinda loose? Mine don't seem to be very sturdy, and it make me wonder why it wasn't made as just a peg. Great kit otherwise, beside for the half molded visor I got lol

Lvl 3 Sprukits Are Always Better Just More Complex With More Pieces Your Welcome ;)
You should use both because there are just some things that don’t go well with either, no matter what kind of thing your doing

How much are your customs
This is surprisingly stellar for a model kit, and it bums me out that it has better articulation in some areas (elbows, for example) than most figures. :/
I will probably pick this up and give 'er a paint job, the quality is a lot better than I was expecting.
Edit: The silver sticker under an orange strip of plastic is genius, for the visor.

As a Gunpla modeler, seeing the fairly standard Gunpla articulation applied to action figures like these is great.
If you really want to see some thing with even better range of motion look at something like the Master Grade RX-78/2 version 3.0.
Its articulation is like this but even better.
i know, but this one is specially since it isnt actually gunpla. dont even get me started on the strike freedom. i cried when i first saw that big guy.
There should be a level four or something because I know this one has lots of pieces, but its lacks of detail in paint.

he's roughly 1/9 scale since he's a human...the mecha are WAY bigger irl so at 1/144 and 1/100, it's not even close.

Do you plan to get the level 2 of the halo figures? I managed to get all of them and their not as detailed but are still really nice figures. What other figure kits bandai made besides halo master chief?
This Master Chief figure comes from the Sprukits line, which include Superman & Batman.
Other lines include Gunpla (arguably their biggest), LBX, Macross & MG Figurise (for some anime characters).
i did a video covering them from new york toy fair 2014. just search for that.
I want this guy, but my local store's shelves are clogged with level 2 Batman.
I have the level 2 version and I only have 2 nitpicks, first, the size and 2, if I rotate his waist the crotch wants to detach, but hey what can you do...
Actually ther isn't any problem by itself, but I mean that the difference of size between level 1 and level 2 are not very big, but the difference with level 2 and level 3 are huge. I think that the level 1 are in scale with Marvel legends and the sort, but level 2 are not in scale with anything actual. They are in scale with the old Toy Biz toys and that, so I think it could be better if level 2 would be in the 6 inch scale instead.

arrrrgh I don't even like chief that much. I have other kai spartans, I would value the play arts over the kit since they have real nice paint jobs but this is almost as good because building is mad fun. articulation seems a tad better than the less smooth rubbery joints we get with most figures. awesome vid.

What's the scale compared to marvel legends?
Well this figure is over nine inches tall and marvel legends are six inch scale.
The level 2 version might be what you're looking for they are around the same height as marvel legends. They are cheaper with a little less articulation but still fantastic.
Level 2.... I'll take a look. Over nine inches? That's probably bigger than a WWE action figure and the size of a Joe. Thanks guys!!

I'm actually disappointed at the $60 version of this. I was really hoping for this to be the Master Grade counterpart with better color accuracy (I have the $20 version, and it feels like a 1/144 High Grade), but it looks like Bandai just upscale the thing with better articulation. This is kind of like a 1/100 No Grade, but more playable and fun to build. This is definitely more geared to children but shouldn't be diss by the model kit community. I would give the Sprukit a chance.

I think it's unfair that armored or robotic characters get better figures since it's easier to hide articulation.
Unfair isn't really the right word. It just makes sense that figures with armor would have better covered joints.
Although the Gunpla(Gundam) models are articulated to the point where they could be considered action figures I disagree that they are. Highly disagree in fact. They are not toys. They are buildable, opposable statues for display purposes only. At least for those of us that build custom painted ones according to our own designs. For those of you that simply build them and put no more effort into them I can understand you considering them to be toys, but for those of us that put forth a lot of effort in making custom parts and paints for them they simply are not. For us they are mire like art than anythung else. This is just my personal opinion though.
