Great to see an award winning photographer only manage to take two photos on one day in a winter wonderland. This sums up photography for me - no matter what your skill level, there are days when it just doesn't work! We beat ourselves up over not getting portfolio shots every time we go out, but sometimes it's the experience that counts. If the shot isn't there, then it isn't there! It's about going out again and having another go on another day and not self-criticising too much.
A little bit of a cliff, it's not dangerous, just a little awkward, says the former climber. 😀😀 A.G. and a coffee...great way to spend a Sunday morning.
I admire how you take your time and your calm appreciation of what’s in front of you. Your approach and style - i think I can improve by adopting that. Thanks
Thanks, Adam. Not so much for the photography this time, but for showing those youngins that we somewhat more tenured folk have what it takes to trek uphill through knee-high snow to get that shot.
A few weeks ago it snowed a lot for the first time in many years where I live. The feeling of being the first to walk on a trail of fresh snow is captivating.
I live relatively close to Niagara Falls and I enjoy the challenge of finding nontypical photographs and compositions there. I look back at those photos from time to time and reflect like you did here. When I head there to either just enjoy the day or take advantage of the possibilities of capturing something interesting, it's always worth the trip! Endless opportunities are there due to the weather here!!!
Awesome winter landscape Adam! I live in the U.P. of Michigan, and we got about 15 inches in the last week or so. Our forests looked like that for about 3 days before we had a couple 38 degree days. Thanks for another great video!👍
shooting in winter scenes is definitely challenge. some days it feels natural, other days like swimming in mud. I've found here in CO that shooting in the winter requires some kind of color for my images to feel interesting at all. The image at 14:30 is a great example, where the tree trunk has some nice color that separates it from the snowy / grey around it. So many times I think I found a great composition just to realize there's no color to really hold any interest
thank you for the amount of work you put into your videos. I went in the snow the snow last weekend and it was difficult getting around. This inspires me to get out again
Thanks Adam, I didn’t realize it snowed that much on Vancouver Island . Thanks for the vlog. You looked warmer than Hardcastle….who was standing in water this week..13 degrees🤦♂️🤦♂️
Nice isolation of that tree at the summit where you were "perched" on the edge of the cliff. It's hard to keep your footprint trail out of a composition unless you're very methodical about seeing the composition way ahead of time and avoiding any place that you think will be in it, especially hard if you're walking up to a composition from behind it then focusing back towards the direction you came from.
Beautiful image @ 08:03. I'm a bit surprised you didn't clone out your foot prints. It was funny. I saw the Delica and clicked on the thumbnail, thinking it was Heaton's van. Then, the voice came up and I thought, "Wow, he must have a cold." I finally figured it out. Thanks for the content.
Great images! Haven’t had much snow here in northern Ohio { barely 17 inches for the season). Most melts the next day. Not much opportunity for any snowy scenes.
Hard to believe we are on the same continent. Here in Missouri it's 73 degrees F. today, first part of March it should be 20 degrees F. and 6 inches of snow. Probably going to be 120 degrees in a few months.
The two shots from the prior year's trip are fantastic , in my opinion ! Beautiful stuff as always . Noticed you aren't using drone footage as much as you used to ?
Adam... Have you tried the Third-party 'Laowa 17 mm f4 Zero-D' GF-lens yet? I have it, and it's great, but I hardly use it, as I finde wide-angle to be far harder to photograph with, than the longer focal lengths... The 32-64 GF, or the 100-200 GF lenses generally deliver for my uses.
That fancy shmacy new tripod head you have the Cube Arca Swiss ton of titanium with mega adjustabliltiy and heavy camera stability.... does it have built in pan positions ? For USD$1600, I'd hope so. lol that thing looks so solid... I live down the street from RRS, but I'm lusting pretty badly for a new "ball head"....

Absolutely love your tree picture - the reddish colour of the main branches near the base and the darker cloud as a backdrop.......just love it.....
*That* is what I expect Vancouver Island to look like in February-March

Going through hard times in life and your videos are just healing. Thank you!
I do like the rich colours of the trees in such environments. Reminds me of our snow gums here in Australia.
Definitely a winter wonderland! Excellent outing and images!
Many thanks!
I had exactly the same day yesterday here in Rochester, NY. Hard to find clean compositions but a magical day in the woods.
That's a lot of snow for your area. We got hit with a lot here in Southern Ontario last Friday too but we get it here. Lovely images. Love those trees
As Gavin can attest, 15 to 20 centimeters are a good number in a variety of situations.
A 2 for 1 Episode is always great !!
Beautiful work as always, mate. Loved it.
Thank you! Cheers!

Another beauty Gibbs.

So beautiful with snow on the trees! Thank you for the video.
Thanks for visiting
Agreed...snow filled woods are wonderful, but also 'impossible'. And you got to break trail!
Love the video as always. Looks gorgeous in the snow.
It really is!
@@QuietLightPhoto I'm actually heading to Olympic National Park in about 2 weeks hoping for some great weather then!

So true that though you may be surrounded by beauty it does not mean there is an image there.

Great content as always! Thank you for the effort involved in creating such a wonderful video. Cheers!
Much appreciated!
Wow mate, so exciting you finally got some snow. Now you can stop complaining 😂❤❤❤
You got that right!

Great video Adam, great shots. I always like snow shots and these are great. Thanks as always.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great photos! Thank you for your content. It's been an inspiration to say the least...
Great to hear!
Speaking for myself, I particularly like that photograph at eight minutes, in the video, Liked
Pretty amazing how quick the weather comes in. Way to work with what you get.
Thanks 👍

They're are not footprints, they are prints made from the snow falling off of the tree. But yes it did cross my mind, thanks!

You're getting more snow than us in Nova Scotia. When are you moving here?
hmm, well I like winter but not six months of the year
@@QuietLightPhoto Nah. It didn't start till late Dec and I think it's officially over next week.

Yeah it’s a bit of a weight issue
Thank you for braving the weather. Q: when you go out photographing solo - Do you let someone know where you are?
Usually, yes.
Definitely should have a pair of snow shoes …

No I haven’t tried it. I’ve been using the 20-35mm and love it. I’ll probably sell the 32-64mm
👍

You can purchase the head with or without a beard panning ability the one with of course costs more
❤❤👍👍👌👌
It's a Delica. You don't get stuck as long as you apply common sense !!
Being that the GFX100 is 100mp don’t you find that the computer Boggs down when loading the raw files?
No not at all
How can you tell when more MP are too much for your computer. Want to buy new camera but not new computer also. Guidelines?
I'm no computer whiz so I can only tell you what I have. 2020 iMac 3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7, 72 GB 2133 MHz DDR4.
Hopefully you did not leave shovelling the driveway to your lady.......:):):)
What happened with the dog ? Was he with someone?
Yes a lot of folk walk their dogs up that way
