Back in the day, when there were very few Aires in Portugal, Luz was one of the few to offer full services. Mostly, we wild camped by the barragems (dams). We have stayed at the campsite in Serpa many times and enjoyed the restaurants in the old town. There is a lovely craft shop there where we bought little sheepskin booties for my grandson and a decorative plate for the wall. We also visit Castro Verde often as there are great bustards on the plains near there.

Hello Angie, Luz was a lovely find and such a nice aire, it's lovely of the locals to provide the facility, shame to see in these areas where mororhomers have absolutely taken liberties and treat them like campsites or have full time residents living on them, suprised there not being taken away to be honest, the lack of respect is sad to see, on a positive we both feel this region of Portugal is one of the best parts of Portugal 🇵🇹 🙂

Hello Peter, it is a shame the UK's local councils don't realise the benifits of setting up Aires in struggling towns and villages to help the local businesses, instead of trying to take money at every opportunity without really offering a great deal in return, that's my rant over for the day lol 🤣
