That’s why term limits and the DOJ needs to indict corrupted justices. This court should be dismissed and replaced with legitimate justices that have nothing to do with Republican political parties or issues.

It's absolutely mind-boggling when a court screws up big time, and let's not forget those cheeky prosecutors who conveniently hide evidence from the defense. The result? An innocent soul gets slapped with a life sentence or, worse yet, gets the ol' "oops, sorry, we actually got it wrong" execution treatment. And when they dare to appeal, the court has the audacity to shut them down, saying, "Nah, you ain't goin' nowhere, buddy." Guilty or innocent, off to the slammer for the rest of their natural life. Seriously, can someone explain how this passes as justice in any civilized society? It's as baffling as a penguin wearing a tuxedo in the desert.
And hey, Supreme Court, I'm talking to you! You should be blushing like a tomato and thinking about a career change. Those judges of yours need to be given the boot, pronto!
Now, let's get real for a moment. As a Black African, this hits close to home because our community bears the brunt of this generation's genocide. It's like being the main course at an unfairness buffet. But hey, we won't let that get us down. We'll keep fighting for justice, equal rights, and a world where courts don't act like a circus. Stay strong, my fellow warriors!

This is what worries me. If Trump can get his trial or appeal ajudicated with a conviction but SCOTUS can basically declare him innocent in one form or another no matter how much evidence is presented. This case right here shows why Trump wants to be tried in front of judges he appointed. He knows these so called legal minds will set him free. Even if convicted these judges will allow him to run for president therefore giving himself a pardon.

An EXCELLENT example of why: when lawyers get it wrong ON PURPOSE 😜 or by omission or ineffective counsel should be subject to accountability…examples but not limited to- immediate sanctions & review of their law licenses! In the positive efforts of non-profit organizations such as Equal Justice Initiative, we rarely hear that prosecutors or public defenders are held accountable for deeds or misdeeds. The system/apparatus is clearly broken when SCOTUS refuses to be held accountable and rules that attorneys & judges actions are final w/o punishment or correction for those LICENSED & EDUCATED to know better. 😳

The supreme courts doesn't matter if they never had jurisdiction in the first place. Don't argue if the conviction was right or wrong, prove they never had the right to make one in the first place. If it's a supreme court decision without jurisdiction, then you take it to the UN. If spoken to them about matters of such. The Jurisdictional issue is the great thing about law as I can almost guarantee they never provide evidence they had any. With that being said, the chilling effect is vast and far reaching. I remember when i was in college a professor said, "No one ever said the justice system is about justice."

awful decision. Thanks for your very clear outrage. There are plenty of procedural barriers the court can use to make life hard (or impossible in cases of death penalty) when there are prosecutorial/judicial errors or other causes for appeal, but outrage is right when the door is completely closed. I don’t think guilt or innocence is the issue - -that’s an issue of judgement. It’s about fair process! People deserve a fair trial. We need to fix the whole system - where the bill of rights has effect, rather than just a head nod and a chuckle. Lives are on the line.

What a pack of lies. Habeas Corpus is for constitutional issues not statutory issues. This was a statutory issue, not a constitutional one. He had already had a statutory appeal and it was turned down. What he wanted to do was keep appealing the same thing but using different avenues in the courts to do so. Allowing this would mean prisoners could just keep appealing their convictions over and over and over.
To appeal for "actual innocence" needs new evidence. There was no new evidence.
At the time of his conviction, and his appeal, mens rea was not necessary. it was a strict liability crime.
If you want to be mad at something, be mad at the outrageous sentence he was given for the felon in possession in the fist place. 27 years!

The law states "knowingly commit" And there was no proof he knew he was facing felony charges for a previous issue. The supreme Court erred in their ruling as it was simpler to go along with what was wrong than to correct the injustice rendered. The sad part he has no other headdress than to seek clemency from a politician, state Governor or President.

First, I'm not a lawyer. I'm a social scientist. So....I think I understand how this looks. This means that a person convicted of a crime loses the right to challenge improper sentencing. But, sentencing standards are set on the federal level. This stands as a violation of the maximum sentence set for the judge by federal law. If a judge can violate the maximum, does this mean that a judge can override a mandatory minimum? I'm asking because I really would like to know.
