Thank you anyway. The more we watch videos like yours will lead us to learn about those electronic components that are a better alternative to start discover and learn the real reasons of why the car refuses to start. My Corolla 1998 relay maybe the culprit also in my case. I found the contacts in it and also i could see inside its base with something like peanut butterry thing! Now, how am i going to purchase a new or even an used relay? First I have to learn about how to clear and wash away all that peanut butter-like from the contacts in its base! This is what Florida beautiful weather is doing down here! Melting everything! Many thanks again.
Thanks! I saw them on a ruined MR2 at the local junkyard and had to have them. That’s cool to know there’s another Corolla out there with the triangles.
Another thing you can check that is easy and people overlook as too easy is corrosion on battery terminals. I was ready to replace my starter too, but thought I would clean up the terminals first. Bammm. It started right up!
That was it for me. Turn the key and go and play with the terminals if you hear the fan or noises go ahead and turn the key all the way. The car supposed to start
Ok, so this is California. It is 100 most days now but I have to turn the key over and over before it starts up. I replaced that white ignition switch, with a junk yard part. Did not change anything. So where is the relay? Is it on the bottom of the key cylinder?
It’s right above the fuse box in the driver’s footwell, it’s the only purple relay so it’s clear which one it is. If I were you, I’d swap the relay, if it does nothing, double check to make sure the starter solenoid is getting 12v when the key is turned. If the solenoid is getting power and the starter is not engaging, try bridging the solenoid with a wrench or something, if the starter works, rebuild the solenoid, if it doesn’t work, replace the starter.
@@kylesjunkandprojects216 So, by this morning I was smacking on the starter with a steel rod to get it to start. I was convinced I needed a new starter.. But I went to the junk yard anyway, plucked out two relays, replaced my old one and Vwammo. The car starts great now. Do you have a video of Starter R&R on the 96 Corrolla? I can't see how it can be done without pulling the engine.
@@frankmoyer5822 I haven’t had to make that video yet since my starter is still working fine, I’m sure I will eventually lol. I’m glad you got your car sorted.
My 96 Corolla has a a 96 Celica motor 5,speed trani. When it is cold zmy Speedo takes a while to work too. I'm going to look for the relay. Just goa starter forgot to check that 1st. Too damn Cold 🥶 LoL
I just noticed that your car doesn't have any other badges except for the Toyota logo and COROLLA text on the trunk lid. Did they fall off or something? IDK, I just haven't seen any 97 Corolla without the trim level badge or the TOYOTA text badge.
My car is the CE model and originally came without a spoiler and a CE badge on the trunk lid, I found the trunk lid that’s on it now at the junkyard, buffed it and installed it, the trunk lid on the car currently is from a DX model.
I appreciate the comments, I’m not a mechanic, everything I know about cars I have learned on the internet, I’m not and expert, it’s just my hobby to repair things and my Corolla is my daily driver. It took me months to find the exact Corolla I wanted, this one is not for sale, but they are out there.

Where is the relay located
Love the MR2 Triangles. My parents still have those wheels on their Corolla as well from my old MR2. Super cool.

Good video right to the point We had this car forever with no problems and this was an easy fix thank you
Location of the relay would've been nice!!!
Why didn't you show how you got it out.
How did you get it out? And how did you put a new one in? Mine is stuck and I’m so confused
The relay is hard to get out, and at a super awkward angle, pull and wiggle the relay back and forth to get it out, it definitely takes some effort.
Does the whole thing come down or just the part the wires are connected to?
Get a skinny kinfe. And lightly pry while pulling. Be safe. And yo get into the relay. Same thing. Just be careful.
Where the relay goes????
What is the relay? Where is it located?
Where did i get those relay for Toyota corolla where'stay show me please
Where is the relay located?
Where is the starter relay? I have the same car with the same problem
I showed that in this video, I have no idea why I didn’t show it in this video lol

@@kylesjunkandprojects216 Well, so update: Car started great for a day, but now I'm stuck at 3AM, so it's definitely the Starter this time.
What is the name of that relay and what is its purpose in the car? I'm having same issue with my 94 Toyota Corolla.
It’s the starter relay. You can try holding the relay and seeing if it clicks when you hit the key, if it clicks, it’s good.
