These Fetts are pre-production and as you say are in their own category! Plus the Fett coolness factor makes the rocket Fetts very desirable! Great analysis on your part!
Thank you for watching BOE!
Some really out of this world prices for some real 💎 gems 👌 Thanks for the updates 👍
Thanks for watching Scott
Rocket Fetts are recognized by people who don't know Star Wars. It's in a different category. This example may have been bought by a non-collector as solely an investment piece.
Great point!
LEGEND.🌟.
My only surprise is that it took this long for SW toys to cross the million dollar threshold when so many other collectibles are already there. We'll see 2-4 million hit in the next few years. Great video!
I could definitely see the Gus Lopez collection having a few items that cross this thresh hold too
Big boy money for sure!
Thanks so much for watching 👀
I was actually going way above price points i was comfortable with. I thought that would make me happy to own certain star wars stuff. That wasn't true. I found out i get great joy finding corky and far less expensive star wars stuff. That helped me find a sweet spot.
I usually take the same approach. Occasionally I will spend some big boy money, but the vast majority of my collection is $500 or less (many a LOT less than that) and it is perfectly fine for getting enjoyment out of the hobby.
@ActionFigureGrader I litterly just purchased a 1977 Star Wars electronic promotional toothbrush that still works. That's corky and interesting. Pre Kenner Star Wars toys. That's what I mean by corky.
@@BirdsR Quirky, I think you mean! Awesome!
@@ActionFigureGrader definitely
I figured, eh wth. You only live once and decided to snatch this up!😉
Nice win! Lol
While it makes for a compelling story for average collectors, I agree that it won't have an effect on 'lower tiered' collectibles. Why drive a Lexus when you have a Bugatti in the garage? If I still had any genie wishes left, I would prefer the original L-Slot prototype. We still have our dreams.
Totally agree
@@marcdavidgarcia2448 I'm concerned that it will have an effect on the lower tiered collectors. As stated in my previous comment regarding Jeff Jacob's collection hitting the market. Will there be an influx of buyers that drive the graded market up and now it becomes a hunt for the NM items that haven't been graded at a decent price to ultimately just get them graded. The CIB auctions are concerning because it is happening right in front of us. AFG has covered this in detail. My belief, and I may be wrong, is that people are overbidding because they are buying based on the name.. Even Jeff's items go really high. It's like buying a shirt from the Ralph Lauren store in a fancy shopping area or finding the shirt 2 miles down the road at Marshalls for have the price with a label missing. The people that go to the fancy store are going to keep paying whatever the price tag says out of convenience and sense of security. 🤷♂️
I was following this auction very closely, but never a potential buyer. You can see where this figure came from on Ken Goldin's Netflix series, "King of Collectibles: Season 2, ep. 7, A Messi Situation." The seller was in Hollywood, FL, although not sure if that was the actual owner? Anyway, Goldin is similar to CIB in that he has a deep well of whales who can afford these items, so I don't see this translating to the lower markets. I agree with the comment below that the Jeff Jacob's sale will be the ultimate indicator. One interesting thing of note, if you look up the serial number on CGA/AFA, it says that there are in fact only 2, but they list an 85+ and a 90. Therefore the 85+ was not the highest graded example. Maybe the AFA 90 is in George Lucas' vault? 🤔
Great video as always!!!!
Great insights, thank you!
I think it’s obscene that something like this can be so expensive but if you can afford it then fair play
Yeah we all have different budgets, I suppose lol
I would like to know the age of the person who bought it. As these collectors get old, collections will come to market, finding people who are interested in the products will eventually wither away.
Thanks for watching Vader
John, great analysis and it brings up a lot of questions as well? Will Jeff Jacob's auction be the ultimate indicator for the market? Will it bring record prices and bring the action figure market into the same stratosphere of baseball cards and comics, expanding the market as you said to essentially people that want to invest outside of the stock market? It will be interesting to see what will follow. Having worked in private clubs for a long time, there are a lot of people that are looking for the next big thing that have made their fortune. Hopefully it doesn't push us newbies out. Some of us just got to where we can have some fun and not window shop. Thank you for the video.
Appreciate your insights, Aaron
Hi Action Figure Grader,
From my point of view and this is just my personal opinion. It's just madness. That is a sum and an amount of money that normal people can never earn in their entire lives with their manual labor. Or the other way around, if that amount of money could completely change the lives of people, then that's just not okay.
Thank you for your background information. It was again very informative.
Greetings from Germany.
Regards
Marc
Art sells every day for 10x this amount.
It seems like a lot of money for a toy
Almost any amount of money could help someone in need so really all collecting is unethical. (Unless perhaps if you're able to use collecting to make a profit which is then donated to charity.) And I'm not passing judgement on anyone, apart from myself. If I'd donated all the money I'd spent on Kenner and TVC to a charity, I'd probably feel more aligned with my values...
JFC lol
Thanks for watching Mike!
is this not the same fett that sold for 500T not long ago? if not you would hope if you are the buyer that the item is not a fake
No, this is not the same one. The item is definitely legit - he has shown it many times in the Facebook groups dating back to when he acquired it 15 years ago or so.
@@ActionFigureGrader yes just looking at it I could not really tell the differance and this is definatly an item for the super rich
I don't know AFG
Thanks for watching!
